I hear you sister. Not all of us can just "give up" a dreaded job. Too many people counting upon us going to the salt mine.

That was me until I quit my commercial sales job and started servicing pools.

My biggest life regret is getting a masters degree from a private university that I didn’t need. I could have learned everything on UA-cam. Can’t turn back time, but I can serve as example for others to NOT do something because society expects you to.

It's getting hard out there, some jobs change, management changes, and pay isn't keeping up, let alone getting better as I get older I'm not keeping up.

I dont hate/dread work. I'd just rather not go. I'd rather sleep in and play video games all day instead. However, i enjoy not being homeless, my new house, and my new car. It's a hard problem to reconcile.

So do I. I worked as a secretary at the company for 4 years, and a year ago I got my part-time job in graphic design, making national day flyers and stuff which I love so much. But then, 3 years later, my boss changed my part-time job to writing stories for websites like the activities of the company which I hated. Not only that, my boss always gives me sudden jobs that I've no idea about or what I'm going to do and that makes me really burn out every time I come home. 😮‍💨

Great advice I just made that leap of faith leaving my hospital system and now doing travel nursing. I’m so happy I did I talked myself out of for 2 years due to fear and the what if’s but I finally said what am I doing here. I start in two weeks and honestly I feel a huge sigh of relief. I hope she takes your advice ❤

I hate that for her. Thank God that I like my job! I would rather love/like my job and be poor than hate my job and be rich.

Husband is self employed so I’m working a very low paid retail job that is draining me but it does give us our health insurance benefits at a good price so I definitely feel so stuck there so we receive that which helps.

Other jobs also provide insurance benefits. Try to find an opportunity that you will enjoy, which also provides what you need.

A lot have been fitted with golden cuffs. Veey few people are willing to lower the lifestyle for more freedom to change jobs. They are stuck financially in the trap or the benefits/ retirement have in which the golden hand cuffs are silver 🔗 ⛓

I know this exact feeling because I’m in it right now. I switched jobs last year to a new school and I realized it’s a terrible fit for me. I am much better working with high school students but right now I work with elementary and middle school students. It’s so draining mentally for me and I’m doing everything I can to find a better job.

I work full-time overnights in retail and part-time as a substitute teacher. I want to leave retail, but I can’t tell if teaching is what I truly want to pursue. Got any advice or thoughts?

@@OneSmileAtATime. subbing is a lot more challenging than being a consistent teacher. Students view subs and teachers in a different light unfortunately.
It’s all about figuring out what age group is easiest for you to lead and manage and relate to with your curriculum/ teaching style. Keep subbing and maybe start looking for a long term sub situation that will allow you to create consistency with your students. Start asking yourself which age group you want to impact.

That is me. It’s a huge corporation and every day is just a big mess, and no one helps train you to learn the skills needed. You’re just left to figure it out on your own, and they put in you roles that don’t even fit your skills and abilities which adds even more stress.

That's how everyone feels at work LOL that's why they have to pay us to be there because it sucks and it's depressing going to a job just to kills your soul that's a fact Hobbs and I are 40 I do in-home caregiving and he works for the Post Office the only way we get through life is that we take an international trip every year you always have to have something to look forward to and that you're working towards I always have to remind myself I got to keep going to work and dealing with this crap because it's going to allow me to take an epic vacation lol

That's sad though. I don't like my job either but I also don't suffer because of my work. I would probably go nuts if I had to do it more than 30 hours per week though because I have little energy due to health issues. What helps me is having a life outside of my job and a rich imagination that allows me to tune out the BS at my job.

You're trading your passion for glory. Watch Rocky 3 and learn the lesson from it. He loses the heavy weight championship of the world to a young hungry fighter Clubber Lang. When he regains his passion for the sport, he wins it back after hard training and sacrificing his entitled lifestyle. Give up the glory entitlement, rethink, revise, redo and move forward like Rocky. Its better to lose the glory and go out of life a winner than a glorified loser. His wife Adrian says "so what if you lose? At least everyone will know you're not a coward and you gave it your best shot! I/you can live OK with that. Teddy Roosevelt said (para-phrased Its better to try and not succeed than to be a gutless coward who settled for medriocrity and never tried at all." I know I murdered the quote , but that's the essence of what he said. Just because you're 40 doesn't mean you have to throw in the towel and settle for a un-fuliling lifestyle. I quit my job at 50 and found a better path to move forward. And I did it gain at 60. And I'm doing it again at 69. You can be whatever you want to be if you don't trade your passion for glory like Rocky in Rocky 3.. Don't sell out to the man like Tom Selleck and the Fonz Henry Winkler(total scumbags). "Trying to sell Grand-Ma's house to the bank and screwing over her estate so kids can't inherit the house. No vacation is worth a job that makes you fell miserable and kills your soul.
