Usc went 1 and 2 in the open 400... this was an underwhelming race for them. Ucla is coming off a school record... expected them to take this... Arizona state impressed 👏 a did not expect them to take the crown... did notice that 3 of the open 400 runners were in Arizona state yellow tho
UCLA's #4 made a classic mistake by trying to catch up immediately before the back straight. He should have waited until the final turn, drawn up close, then try passing the ASU runner in the home straight. Back in my day it would have been USC up in the lead and everyone chasing them as they were always loaded with top sprint talent 100m-400m.
@@kenmcdaniel6913 Next time he'll be ahead of Robinson when they make their last baton pass. This is still UCLA's to lose in the big event coming up, the Western Regional, when they send their A team.
I don't think so. When he got the baton, he was behind. He had to catch up to the leader to ensure that he would be competitive. If he had waited until the final turn, he probably would have been too far behind to catch up. Even if he did catch him on the curve, he wouldn't have had the strength to pass him on the last straight away. He would be so weak in the last 50 yards, that the 3rd place team may have caught him.
Nice to see ucla getting back into it
Az St. 3rd leg -- powerful with impeccable balance -- broke the race open.
Sko Buffs!
UCLA ran sub 3:00 early in the season. They haven't looked the same since that race.
this isn’t their A team
Was that USC A team?

Everybody looked tired in this relay. I'm sure these two teams will run sub 3min at regionals and nationals
How many teams make regional from this race do you know?
UCLA looked unimpressive
wasn’t their A team
