I mig weld 10hrs a day in fab shop earning just enough to pay for my house and our cars. Always wanted to learn tig and get better at stick. Now that i've got a clean power generator for my shed i'm going to start saving up this little beauty right here. Special thanks to bob and weld.com for the video of the stick features
I've been trying to decide between the Everlast 161STH and the 210STL to use primarily as a stick welder that I would take with me to jobs for equipment and farm repairs. I don't plan on running electrodes larger than 1/8, but I typically run 6011, 7014, and 7018. I would occasionally use it for TIG welding as well. Would the 160STH be enough to run in that application, or would you recommend the 210STL? The 160 has some cool TIG features that the 210 lacks, but again the main purpose is to be a stick welder for jobsite and farm repairs.
@Hub's Nub Maybe I just got one out of a bad batch, I did buy it the week they released. I’ll have to give it a shot one more time. What you get for the money is better than anything else out there. Thanks for the reply brotha🤙🏼
Really great vid , I was under the impression miller machines were the only ones with open circuits that could run a6010 rod , if I saw this a few months back I’d probably have saved myself loads of money
I have absolutely no experience with pewter so take this with a grain of salt, but I know pewter has a very low melting point, so if I had to do it I would go with low amperage tig brazing or silver solder. But I'd recommend taking it to someone who specializes on small parts. Maybe a jeweler or something
Thanks for soldering/brazing idea! I’ll check it out. I run accross trim pieces that the mounts break off. They are hard to find sometimes. Thought id practice on hotwheels first.
I just can't get jazzed about Chinesium welders. Or Chinesium anything, for that matter. That said, as usual I still appreciate Bob's videos! Maybe we will get a chance to meet up and burn some metal sometime :-) Thanks Bob!
I would have tried this few years back but the 160 didn't run 6010.. I weld pipe in hydronics so that was a deal breaker. Got the esab miniarc 161 Lts and absolutely love it. Hi freq start and foot pedal controls would be nice but the esab is exactly what u see in field is why I went that way but would love foot pedal for fab and repairs
@@tommyt2854 the swapping of the ground was huge turn off on that machine. Not field practical. Need to run 6010/7018 with out touching machine and the esab does that beautifully

Hey bob, Im considering to buy this machine soon, was wanting to know can it whip n pause a 6010 decent though? As apparently some invertors run them with a drag but not whip in pause. regards from Australia
Thanks again Mr Moffat 👍 Can you guys do a stick/mig , comparison, with cut and etch, been reading lots of material about penetration differences, but a lot of that info is older and with the new welders, are the welds compatible?
Thank you bob I love your videos, excellent education!now if you do touch something hot be sure you touch it with the back of your hand, the front of your hand tends to grab as the back does not! Iam a firefighter (firefighter 101 make sure that door isn't hot with the back of your hand) and if you get a chance can you fill me in on mig settings volts/amps for an everlast welder on 14 gage, 1/8 , 1/4 material running 25/75 and 30 wire. Thanks in advance and have a good afternoon
Everlast's magic button. Really I think it has to do with source inductance, OCV or both. I do great with 6010 on an old SA 200 (DC Gasoline Lincoln) but I tried a cheap inverter and it was impossible to use.

Hi Bob, Happy new year... Great video, as usual! Could you please, show us how to do an cube, just as an exercise. Let say 3mm thick steel and 15 cm? With TIG.
sorry, you don't know where welding channels are lost to young boys. I don't know the name of the channel, it had something like 1992 and some name before that. he was in the USA, he had a lot of everlast welding machines there
Hay, a lot of the time I work on my tractor my screw driver turn that glowing color. My wife asks me why I need so many screw drivers, she doesn’t get it when I tell her “Because I a terrible welder”
Don't jam rod till it's heated up. Strike half in above where u wanna start drag down heat start to blend slight push and key hole should open up and then drag at proper speed. Sticking may be from jaming to much and moving to fast and rod does not have time to melt work pieces and boom stick. Slow down a bit is my suggestion

the anti-anti-stick feature is a built in rod dryer ;)

Everlast called it the 161 STH … Miller already had the Maxstar 161 STH. Now THAT was ballsy but not imaginative.
That tiny thing seems to run 6010 as well as an SA200.
Waiting on mine to arrive. There wasn’t a single video on this model until now...
John McCann have you been using the machine ? How has it been ?
Will this run P+?
Finally a video showing this in action, ended up ordering one last week so I can practice TIG can't wait for it to get here.
Interesting as self taut welding what determines wether you push or pull the weld when stick welding
I picked up the Everlast PowerARC210STL it makes the Miller maxstar look like a chump at about a quarter of the price
My thoughts exactly. My buddy just dropped like 2k on a miller diversion and my $400 everlast stick welder has a smoother tig arc
@Hub's Nub I had the Powerarc 210STL as well but had to return it because it couldn’t run 6010 at all.

did you guys ever review the tig aspect from this model?
Was fun to see Bob having a meltdown 🤣
Why is the vrd off
were you using 110 or 220 ?
Wish everlast had the hf start and pulse on the 200 amp model. I'd get it in a heartbeat.

Very impressive. If Everlast didn’t have a poor reputation about warranty service, I would recommend them.
I’ve heard nothing but great things about their warranty & customer support 🤷♂️

I would like to see a downhill root and also a larger gap where you have to whip it and see if it can keep it lit with a little long arc action?
We played around with doing some longer arcs and it actually handled it well. We we're pleasantly surprised as some of the older models can't do it.
Bob, I've never stuck an electrode that bad... But now I'll have to try it once!
