Any suggestions on when would be the best time ro level my yard out some? Thanks for all the videos, they're awesome. Congrats on the SLS deal also! Looks good

I live in north Missouri, and I have a few issues to contend with in regard to my lawn. I have dogs in a fenced yard, and my current growth is a tangly, broad leaf weed of some sort. I want to get rid of the weeds and grow grass, hopefully for next year, but I don't want to kill it all and make the yard muddy for my dogs. Is it possible to manage this?
You are an excellent communicator, Ryan. Very knowledgeable, well spoken, with a sincere love for what you do. Hats off to you. Keep up the good work. Now...my question-how do you get the beautiful striped pattern on your lawn? I have seen this and admired it on pro baseball fields, but don’t know how to achieve it. Also, you inspired me to prepare, sort of, one side of my lawn, which had been entirely taken over by some wiry, blue-green weedy grass, and reseed it to hopefully achieve a beautiful lawn. Right now I only have a Toro recycler 22” and am thinking on buying a manual reel to start with.
I use the Sunniland 24-0-11 fertilizer from Lowes during the spring to summer months; it's 50% slow release, contains iron and micronutrients, but may not work for you if you want a fast acting fertilizer. Thanks for another great video Ryan. Questions ... with most of my lawn going dormant during this dray hot summer in Illinois should I fertilize now as we have cooler weather and rain now? Then how long should I wait until dethatch, aerate, overseeding. Then how long to wait for the final fertilizer. Thanks in advance!
Would it be more beneficial to use a liquid 20-0-5 since you said you want a fast release. Im just starting to ram up my lawn has some weeds but Tenacity is on the way. Ill spray that then wait a week cut and fertilize

I live in Denver and have been using an organic in the Fall around Labor Day and then Scott's in mid-Oct. Is Fall too late to be applying a slow release organic?
Hello, coming home from deployment late October - cool season area in the East (US). Can I still do all of this, even though I am missing the first few weeks of prime time to start?
So after the melorgnite is put down do you continue with that or do you switch to a Scott's winterizer? I'm just confused because I see a fertilizer, fall fertilizer and a winter fertilizer in the video.
Thanks Ryan for giving us all this info it really helps! I live in NC and it’s still pretty damn hot still and I’m planning to overseed my whole lawn this fall could I still do the steps you gave us without hurting the seeds?
No. If I were overseeding and had to choose one or the other, I always choose to dethatch every time because that is the best way to prep a lawn for overseeding. It removes thatch buildup and dead grass, so there's a better seed to soil contact. Dethatch requires more work than aerating, so many choose to aerate, but think about this. Seeds need to be no more than about 1/4" below the soil for germination, however aerators punch 2" holes and those seeds that drop in those holes will never see life, so why use it to over seed. I never understood the logic other than it's easier because you don't have to rake up the dead grass. Also, if you can, I suggest renting a lawn roller and roll the lawn after you drop the seeds to press the seeds to the soil. I usually lightly water the lawn so it's damp and then roll the lawn. Get a steel roller over the plastic if it's available.
Ryan, I need your take on my fall plan. I want to do a de thatch my lawn and do some over seeding in addition to do some top care with some top soil to even off things a bit. My question is the order of things; first de thatch then core airation. next, Should i add the top soil first before over seeding or over seed then add the top soil? I reckon in some places I may need to add about 2 inches of top soil. many thanks Milton
Because of how much soil you need to add then seed needs to go last and lightly rake that in. If you added that soil on top it would be too much for the seed to grow
Great video Ryan! question...fall overseeding is done but I used starter fertilizer. so that should be good for the Fall but what about weed prevention? will I need to go liquid or is their a granular form I can use that doesn't have nitrogen since I already used starter fertilizer? thanks!

Mainly I just want to know how to start testing to see if it CAN handle it. Should I just start cutting lower every couple days or any other way of doing it? Right now I only have a Toro recycler 22” and am thinking on buying a manual reel to start with.
Anybody here have any experience with the Lowes brand fertilizers?
I use the Sunniland 24-0-11 fertilizer from Lowes during the spring to summer months; it's 50% slow release, contains iron and micronutrients, but may not work for you if you want a fast acting fertilizer. But, you can drop it at a higher rate.

What kind of lawn mower are you using?
Another great video! I recently moved to a new home and my lawn is hurting bad. I know I can bring it back but I not sure what tod with these 2 large pine trees. It blocks most of the sunlight in my front lawn and pine needles and pine cones everywhere. Any tips or recommendations for growing a lawn around pine trees and lots of shade? Might be another idea for a video
Have any suggestions for Warm weather grass? I'm in the Florida panhandle and haven't been able to find any good information for my area. Just buying a house and the lawn is patchy and thin. I can't start a renovation this year but wondering where to start in the Fall/Winter to give me a good start next Spring.
I'm in North GA and I'm looking to over seed my Bermuda with annual rye in order to help my soil for spring. We are looking to get a cold spell next week... if I sew in the rye and Temps drop next week, will it kill off my seeding?
JUST WANTED 2 SAY THANX 4 THEE INSPIRATION, & ALL YOUR HARD WORK, BROTHER BRUCE
Super helpful. Thank you!
What type of grass do you have ?
Thanks for another great video Ryan. Questions ... with most of my lawn going dormant during this dray hot summer in Illinois should I fertilize now as we have cooler weather and rain now? Then how long should I wait until dethatch, aerate, overseeding. Then how long to wait for the final fertilizer. Thanks in advance!
I thought you use different NPKs for early fall vs late fall. Higher N early fall and higher P&K late fall. No?
Great video. Your videos are always helpful. Any special tips for tall fescue?
needs less than bluegrass in most cases...an app early fall and an app mid fall would be good
Would it be more beneficial to use a liquid 20-0-5 since you said you want a fast release. Im just starting to ram up my lawn has some weeds but Tenacity is on the way. Ill spray that then wait a week cut and fertilize
Would you use granular and liquid fertilizer in fall?
On new grass seed...
Ryan your videos are great! Thanks for the informative posts! I’ve been watching them fo over a year now. You have a cool season lawn and I have a warm season lawn, centipede. Can you recommend another poster that u have faith in that focuses on a warm season lawn such as centipede? Thanks 😊
I have a bad crab grass prob on half of my lawn... Will following this process naturally rid me of that? Or do I need to handle killing the weeds first... (first time yard owner)
So I live in FL and have bahiagrass and its turning yellow in certain spots and on the sides of the house, I tried Ironite but it barely seemed to work, anyone has any suggestions as to why its turning yellow? I only did one application of Ironite a month ago, I don't know if I should do another, The onely other thing that I put was Starter fert in Jan (new sod) and Scotts Lawn Food before the start of summer.
Great videos Ryan. I have a lawn in central Illinois. It has alot of clay and not alot of top soil.. what can I do to make my soil better and get my grass in better shape. Iv been fertilizing for 3 years but it is still not full and green.
Lots of core aeration and look into some topdressing of compost
@@ryanknorrlawncare Thanks Ryan. Ill hit twice with the Core Aerator and use some garden or mushroom compost to spread and rake in . Also maybe do spring and fall?
I live in Denver and have been using an organic in the Fall around Labor Day and then Scott's in mid-Oct. Is Fall too late to be applying a slow release organic?
I had some Kentucky blue grass sod installed in my yard back in may is it needed to aerate the lawn this fall or is it too early? Thanks
How low should you cut your lawn prior to aerating
@Mr. Meeseeks I'll wait till after a rain. To much lawn to water. Thanks
what if anything would you change if you were seeding this fall too?
Check out my overseeding video I put out just a week or so ago
Would you aerate and thatch in the fall?
Can i seed and fertilize
Hello, coming home from deployment late October - cool season area in the East (US). Can I still do all of this, even though I am missing the first few weeks of prime time to start?
5:48 you use a fast release fertilizer that close to a stream (your backyard), huh?
What brand of polarized shades to you wear?
So after the melorgnite is put down do you continue with that or do you switch to a Scott's winterizer? I'm just confused because I see a fertilizer, fall fertilizer and a winter fertilizer in the video.
Hi Ryan.
And if I want just to keep my lawn green instead of making it grow what should I apply and in what rates.
It's November, I live in Central valley California is it still considered fall or should I start putting stuff on my grass for winter?
when the perfect time to kill weeds and how long I can overseeds my lawn in Nebraska
Thanks Ryan for giving us all this info it really helps! I live in NC and it’s still pretty damn hot still and I’m planning to overseed my whole lawn this fall could I still do the steps you gave us without hurting the seeds?
Go a little easier on new grass. Spoon feeding smaller amounts when it's new more consistently would be great for it
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care Sounds good man thank you! It’s my first season with my new lawn and your videos have been real helpful!!
Do you have to dethatch and aerate before overseeding? I’m in Denver Colorado 98 degrees today but will get snow ❄️ on Tuesday 38 degrees.
Ryan, I need your take on my fall plan. I want to do a de thatch my lawn and do some over seeding in addition to do some top care with some top soil to even off things a bit. My question is the order of things;
first de thatch then core airation. next, Should i add the top soil first before over seeding or over seed then add the top soil? I reckon in some places I may need to add about 2 inches of top soil.
many thanks
Milton
Because of how much soil you need to add then seed needs to go last and lightly rake that in. If you added that soil on top it would be too much for the seed to grow
Great video Ryan! question...fall overseeding is done but I used starter fertilizer. so that should be good for the Fall but what about weed prevention? will I need to go liquid or is their a granular form I can use that doesn't have nitrogen since I already used starter fertilizer? thanks!
I would target the weeds you see with a liquid
