      The milleniall song felt more polished but also more redundant. If you grew up as a millennial it felt fairly regular or basic. I think the work on the organic guitar hook actually set the younger guys track up to be much more unique in sound, and I think they benefited from the 15 min and not being able to get all their cords in, kept it a little raw and with their lyrics set their song up for a better synergy. As an elder millennial I gotta give the nod to the Gen Z guys on this. The formula the older guys used just felt like you're hearing a streamline cookie cutter record track that'd you'd hear a single time on a satelitte radio station in 2002 but would never pick up steam or become hot.

    I am an older Millennial, and every single one of my friends when they were 19-20 who used to say things like “we need to innovate, out with the old, something new, stuck in your old ways, it is our time” have become some of the most stuck in the past, stubborn, young people hating people I have ever seen.

    UA-cam MUSIC'S VIDEO OF THE YEAR? Absolutely deserving! This masterpiece left me SPEECHLESS and yearning for more! I'm ditching my watchlist everything else can wait.
    What sets this video apart? Most producers are stuck in a loop, cranking out beats on their desk, screaming 'Hey, look at me, I make music “BORING” like we get it bro!' But this? This is innovation of thinking and bringing something meaningful to think about, about how we see and feel music that we listen to. This is art.
    Showcasing not just the how, but the why the vision, the passion, the soul. It's a symphony of creativity, pushing boundaries and redefining music's future.
    Bravo to the visionary behind this! You've raised the bar, challenged the norms, and inspired a generation.
    This video isn't just a watch it's an experience.

    A Gen X perspective, it’s awesome to see the competitive spirit alive and at work. It was easy too see the Millennials experience play out with efficiency and confidence. Just as it was necessary for Gen Z to portray confidence even though experience isn’t in their corner. But let’s be real, each of our generations would never back down at their age. How could you? Doing so would be a show of weakness and doubt. The fight would be lost before it even started.i also enjoyed seeing the respect being shared by both. Shit taking is certainly part of it. Albeit a very small, insignificant part. But both generations showed up where it counted. It felt healthy to witness. I’m glad it was a positive experience. No doubt both will grow from it. Truth is, the previous generation will always influence the next. It’s just the way it is. And that could be in any direction. To include those influences and to stray away from.
    Technology has dramatically impacted the last three generations of music. Creating entire genres that couldn’t have existed prior.
    But the heart of great artistic expression will always be the heart. What moves us most emotionally always makes for great art.
    Thanks for producing this content. It was very enjoyable.

Makes sense though being as us Millennials (I’m 32) grew up with the “let’s have a fun time there’s no worries” in the 2000’s/early 2010’s and Gen Z grew up with the internet, being able to connect with a wide range of others who they can share their emotions with and a bunch of shit they dealt with on top of it. Bended really rubbed me the wrong way, now I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was taken out of context, but I think a lot of “gen z music” is made by millennials and other older producers, and then he said gen z is responsible for innovation but proceeds to to use guitar chords from the 90s and trap drums that were popularized by millennial producers, he failed to deliver something new. Lastly he just bulldozed the creative process and even ate into the time that was supposed to be for song writing just so he could quantize after he had said that gen z prefers a more rugged and less filtered approach

      @lugebeatzz8747 they definitely prepared. But dragging and dropping samples is really easy, as someone who uses one of these softwares. You go into a library, pick the sounds you want, and the program does the rest for you. It syncs pitch and tempo most of the time, too. All they did was take other people's works, and then called it their own.

    • @lugebeatzz8747
      @lugebeatzz8747 9 днів тому

      @f1rebreather123 It's a collaboration with the other guys, this is a very hard concept in music. In the early 2000s producers used to have pianist and guitarist... Splice is doing the same thing.
      Music is a collaboration process.... Rookie producers or musicians tend to run away from collaborations because of their ego and end up having average music.

    • @f1rebreather123
      @f1rebreather123 9 днів тому

      @lugebeatzz8747 A lot of famous musicians had almosy no samples in their songs. If they did, it was very minor. The song in the video is almost completely based on samples.
      You are just taking a bunch of already made pieces and then turning into a song with minimal modification. Its why there's so much generic rap out there right now. People are using the same samples, same type of beat, and even ripping from other songs.

    I think what can be learned from this from a creative standpoint is:
    1) If you have a job to do that requires collaboration, it's not about you the individual looking good, it's about the whole looking good. Matt and Chu understood that, that's why Chu used loops to make sure Matt had ample time to do what he needed to do. Bended was too wrapped up in him looking good and his vision that he only gave Tore 15 minutes to work. That's disrespectful of other people's time and sacrifices the quality of the group.
    2) Moving something forward doesn't necessarily mean you're moving it in a good direction. You can refine and update something that's existing because sometimes something doesn't exist for a reason. That doesn't mean don't experiment, but you have to have discernment and an editing eye which takes humility and deference for the established conventions forming the foundation of your craft.

    27 here - directly between the two generations mentioned, obviously leaning more towards millennial but I consume a ton of music from both. Something I wanted to point out that Gen Z did wrong throughout the entire process was something small to miss but MAJOR to music chemistry and creation - awareness of one's job in a production. As soon as the older team started, they dapped which immediately set a solid vibe, then both took their positions and let the other one work. Chu is a beat maker who understands this is going to have a vocal, so Matt let him cook while he focused on his job - making vocals. On team millennial, Tore had to focus on helping Bended get his ideas on paper (Bended already not collaborating, just trying to steer the ship) and then also try to figure out how to make his base idea into a usable song. Wanting to be progressive and push music/art forward is always a noble idea. But it's also not always that deep. Most people (including those in the studio) just want to vibe.

    I’m a millennial. This one goes to Gen Z. The emotion was there, innovation with the auto panned guitar context. The piano had weird chords but it worked. My favorite part was the feel change when it went from beat to halftime acoustic drums. That’s the kind of random stuff I hear in younger music. Does it always work? Not for me, but like they said, they’re moving it forward.

    I think y’all should do it again and switch partners. I think Chu and Tore would eat. Matt was talkin bout too much fast food, but really his flow and content was the most fast food facet of the whole thing. I’m 32 and I’m way more tired of his sound than Tore’s singy rappy style, plus it helps he’s really tuned in with it and puttin soul behind it. And I think Bended would actually help Matt progress his style, but they might have a pretty hard time working together. That could be really interesting to watch or a great lesson for everyone.

    I the mentality of gen z is so hard to process 🤦‍♂️ I try to understand them but like chu said, where is forward ? There is no forward. Corman said it best, they're constantly just making what's trending, and not doing it just because they enjoy music.

      Forward is innovation. Change. Y’all don’t understand where forward is because you never change shit. It’s really simple to understand for someone with an open mind.

      thats because they grew up with tiktok and social media plastered in their faces. alot of them are all about whats trendy. i have even seen comments from some saying they want to wear a certain style of clothes but cant because its not trending, so crazy. that makes me sad when i see those type of comments from them.

      @SeanLB 5 місяців тому +1

      @@PSYB3RMOTH All of this bullshit happening to some gen z that you described is also the parents' fault. Lack of education and not being strict to your kids leads to them being glued to social medias. I was educated in a very strict way with my dad beating me up if i didn't do something right and ill thank him every day for punishing me.
      Putting every gen z in the same bag is the most stupid thing ever as well as hating on these new "trendy" artists; they worked hard to achieve what they got now. As a gen z myself i started listening to soul, blues and got inspired by it and started producing using these types of samples. Millennials have a problem with social media : everything they see specially on fakebook, they believe it and take it seriously.

    As a (barely) member of Gen Z and a producer myself, the Gen Z guys made a pretty damn good song, but their attitude was just way off, man. They definitely didn't communicate in a super cohesive manner and I’m kinda disappointed in that. It's super hard to identify with my generation, especially when a loud crowd of them have barely had any life experience.

    Millennials do classic 90s-2005ish rap. Pretty classic beat and rapper.
    Gen Z goes straight for highly autotuned talk rap/pop with like a lil peep vibe..
    Both sounded great.. I'm sure everyone leans towards what they are. I think gen z probably did a better overall job producing this. But I'd rather listen to the millennial's song.

      I actually agree with this so much. I'm Gen Z and I do think millennials won this but I feel like the use of loops made the win be a bit cheaper, along with the mandatory beat switch that's in most songs that sound similar. Overall I do think millennials KNOW what sound good already so they are efficient with their beats and lyrics but it takes away from how much creativity and how unique the track is, whilst Gen Z have the opposite issue. They try experimenting more and do things differently even if its essentially bedroom pop mixed with emo, but lack efficiency and polish cause "new is better".
      Both songs sound good, but neither get playlist spots for me. I'd love to see this concept done again but having one Millennial and one gen z on each team, just switching prod and artist
