I actually think Newcastle are going exactly the right way about it tbh. Building slowly enough but with the right kind of player and the right quality.
Last season they sorted out their defensive frailties: Trippier, Targett (initial loan), Burn as well as attacking players Bruno Guimares and Chris Wood. I'd argue that only Wood has been a disappointment although he was exactly what they needed at the time, it just hasn't worked out.
More defensive reinforcements in the summer: Pope, Botman and Targett (permanent deal) as well as Isak who looks very talented, if a little expensive at £63m.
They've spent about £225m which is a fair whack especially when you consider they haven't regained that from sales.
They have offloaded older players in the likes of Dubravka (33yo), Fernandez (33) and Gayle (32) as well as loaning out about half a dozen others.
I'm sure they will spend another £100m+ next season to improve again but not sure it'll reach the £700m you've spent!
My grandads brother was the captain and CB for Newcastle during the 50s and lifted those fa cups

I’m in a Newcastle save right now with the recent winter transfer database update. I became 5th in the league the first season, with the surprising factor being Callum Wilson, who scored 26 goals and assisted 12 in 31 games as a pressing forward. My main tactic was an asymmetric 4231-ish, but I switched to a 4312 for a lot of the games with Callum being subbed on alongside Isak.
I signed Musiala, Rensch and Lemar in the first season btw
And I’m only seeing now that Wilson scored 11 in 14 for you in the second season, and you completely ignored it lmao

Bit late to comment,but newcastle have been my English team since the days of asprilla and Ferdinand....the 95/96 team was class, threw it away at the end but was almost the Leicester story of the 90s
I would love to see a hearts rebuild as they are playing there 2nd season in the top flight after being wrongfully relegated and in their first season they came comfortably third but however got knocked out of the europa league qualifying and have been drawn into a pretty challenging group in the conference league👍

Although he has played for many clubs, We New Zealanders (including myself) are very proud of Chris Wood because he represents us well and is good for football in New Zealand as its not our best sport which is of course rugby , but yeah he doesn't score all the time but like alot of New Zealanders he's hard working.

I rarely use the Loan market because of how teams try to rip you off with it
My first season i came 6th, i asked for a stadium expansion in my first year and it was upgrade to just under 60,000, only just started my second season and asked for a new stadium and they agreed after i had to convince them, new stadium will be ready for the 3rd season, capacity just under 80,000 👍

I personally would absolutely love an Olympique de Marseille rebuild! Most supported club in France itself, biggest stadium with the best fans, a lot of history, only CL winner in France but been eclipsed Q$G’s money in recent years. Some really interesting dealings these past two seasons and the president actually got his first job in football thanks to FM.

One of the major problems for Newcastle is the financial fair play, not like Man.City who bought Robinho and some other huge names in the year they got bought! Today is much harder to build a super squad, but I bet they will get it in about 5 to 10 years.
