The message, the lyrics, the melody, and the sublime performance. Glad to see Peter surrounded by his favorite musicians. He looks relaxed and wholly immersed in his creation. Bravo!
I was there and I was blown away by his vocal performance! In fact, when Tom Cawley started playing the first notes, and Peter holded the microphone and prepared to sing, I saw the gladness in his face (I was in 2nd row) and thought "Oh boy, this is going to be memorable"... And so it was, partly because Peter would only concentrate on singing... I applauded standing up after the end of the song. I also think this is one of the best songs of his career. Truly beautiful!! One of my favourite pieces of music ever written, specially the last section, which enhances Peter's deep, masterful voice!!! And this video shows some great details such as the lyrics monitor and David Rhodes facial expression showing respect and delight as he listens to Peter singing, as well as Manu Katché's astonishing playing.... What a treat!!!! I also did a video, but not with this quality... Thank you so much for this!
Thank you so much for posting this video. A few days ago my friends posted pix from the show they attended in London. One of the pix showed a pianist right next to PG. Within one moment I understood it's during Playing For Time because of what's on the screen & because I attended earlier dates. I started looking for an audience video of that. Having watched your video, now I think this is my most favourite Playing For Time ever. Notably, maybe because now PG can concentrate on vocals, his voice sounds more powerful than all other (live) performance of this song I've heard. Also, of course, Manu's drumming is much more powerful live than studio recording versions. Once again thank you very much for sharing this video.

Far, far away Out amongst the stars There’s a planet spinning slowly We call it ours Any time, any day Any moment that we bring to life Will never fade away Oh, oh the moments come and go While the memories ebb and flow Play again, play again Oh, there’s a hill that we must climb Climb toward the mist of time It’s all in here what we’ve been through Down, I’m getting it down Sorting it out So everything I care about Is held in here All of those I love inside Everybody’s playing for time You and I still playing for time Thеre goes the sun Back from whеre it came The young move to the center The mom and dad, the frame Any space, any time Any moment that we bring to life Ridiculous, sublime Oh, oh the moments come and go While the memories ebb and flow Play again, play again Oh, there’s a hill that we must climb Climb toward these mists of time It’s all in here what we’ve been through Down, getting it down Sorting it out So everything I care about Is held in here All of those I love inside Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-ooh Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-ooh The future shines a sunny day Unpacked memories stored away All the while, the clock keeps ticking You and I still playing for time One by one the voices silenced For they know that time will tell It’s time that wears the crown And time that rings the bell All cards on the table All hands are down Everybody’s playing for time Everyone’s still playing for time Looking for a flicker in the face of the clock Hidden in the mountain, in the body of the rock No one seems to notice or to feel the aftershock They’re all too busy playing for time Everybody’s playing for time You and I still playing for time

Preciosa canción y una gran voz gracias Peter por tu música única
Was at this show all the way from San Francisco. Twelve rows back, dead center. Gabriel's live shows are unrivaled.

Magnifique
Tears😢 so beautiful
Far, far away
Out amongst the stars
There’s a planet spinning slowly
We call it ours
Any time, any day
Any moment that we bring to life
Will never fade away
Oh, oh the moments come and go
While the memories ebb and flow
Play again, play again
Oh, there’s a hill that we must climb
Climb toward the mist of time
It’s all in here what we’ve been through
Down, I’m getting it down
Sorting it out
So everything I care about
Is held in here
All of those I love inside
Everybody’s playing for time
You and I still playing for time
Thеre goes the sun
Back from whеre it came
The young move to the center
The mom and dad, the frame
Any space, any time
Any moment that we bring to life
Ridiculous, sublime
Oh, oh the moments come and go
While the memories ebb and flow
Play again, play again
Oh, there’s a hill that we must climb
Climb toward these mists of time
It’s all in here what we’ve been through
Down, getting it down
Sorting it out
So everything I care about
Is held in here
All of those I love inside
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-ooh
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-ooh
The future shines a sunny day
Unpacked memories stored away
All the while, the clock keeps ticking
You and I still playing for time
One by one the voices silenced
For they know that time will tell
It’s time that wears the crown
And time that rings the bell
All cards on the table
All hands are down
Everybody’s playing for time
Everyone’s still playing for time
Looking for a flicker in the face of the clock
Hidden in the mountain, in the body of the rock
No one seems to notice or to feel the aftershock
They’re all too busy playing for time
Everybody’s playing for time
You and I still playing for time
Thanks for putting up the words.
@@jdarst100 You are welcome! How could I not???
❤🥰
So melodically similar to Here Comes The Flood but so strong it's worth two songs...
