You have to pay attention to his expression and gestures. He is basically communicating without speaking. There's so many details we can miss when we are blinded by awesome dynamics and patterns. People like ken swift are so dope and we should take inspiration from how intentional and detailed they are
This is what I'm talking 'bout boiiiiiii! it doesn't always have to be a leg twirl, flip or a head spin to be eye catching and in your face. He has mastered the subtleties and nuance, riding the beat to this art form. It is that that separates the masters from the students.
I’ve just come across this video after it’s 10 years on here. I’ve had to watch it a dozen times. Ken is communicating, and telling a story without words. I don’t know what the story is, but somehow.. I understand. That’s the knowledge of Hip Hop for you. Peace 🙏🏽

Up Rockin used to mean something ... RSC and the old school are still where it's at ... I used to B-boy in the early 80's and this was a huge part of dancing - the music was better too. Respect to Prince Ken Swift, doing it right ...
This really is the original style. Mocking your opponent, which from what I know was a lead in to a lot of fighting. In the end they did more of this than actual fighting.
@petter106 What are you talking about? He hit the beat. He didn't fall. He's also doing an exhibition years after his competitive prime and still rocks fresh. What do you want from the man (who's created more of the dance than we'll ever know)?
I used to have this VHS cassette, was it BOTY 2000? I lost it 😩, can someone please tell me what’s the name of the whole movie, or the link to watch it
The event was Battle Royal and to my knowledge it only happened once, 1999 I think. Look for it on UA-cam, there's a long clip that has maybe 30 minutes of the original VHS.
For all you breakdancers who like your pointy toed gymnastics power moves. Yeh your good at what you do but, that's what you are a break dancer. Kenny is a B-Boy with foundation, style, flavour and does the dance the right way from the original 1st gen B-BOYs. So you keep doing your pointy toed gymnastics power moves with no footwork, top rock or flavour and style and continue to be a BREAKDANCER NOT A B-BOY AND LEARN ABOUT RESPECT FOR OGZ LIKE KENNY AND ONE DAY, MAYBE ONE DAY YOU MIGHT LEARN ABOUT THE ORIGINAL ART FORM YOU MAY CALL YOUR SELF A B-BOY AND NOT A BREAK DANCER 😁😁😁 PEACE
@@donaldd4136 not a chance, machine while very good repeats himself quite a lot. Ken was merely demonstrating the old style, and as for style many bboys tried to emulate or catch a bit of Swift's style, none really achieved that.
@kinglynx that's because you need to study this culture, learn, see..understand. It will take years but that's the fun part, the more you know..the more you discover. Goodluck
haha he was supposed to uprock but the dj cut the bboy break of the song haha kenny expected him to play the rock-break part i guess but dj was nice, kenny was the shiat!!

That is really old school uprock the way I saw it in Brooklyn in 1978 at an uprock battle in the street in front of my house.

FREAKIN' LEGEND
Bboyism at its finest.
Prince Ken Swift is what the true essence & rawness of what a real Bboy is.
There is no other..!!!!!
GREAT STYLE!
ken swift invented many bboy moves used today; what have you ever done that significantly changed culture and history?
saved a hip hop school in cambodia from closing (tiny toones), by running 144 miles, with full equipment, food and water etc...
Well here in CHITOWN ILL VILLE I definitely put in work.
Street cred, battles, manipulating moves, volunteering, mentoring, etc.
