Small nitpick here: Hendon Hooker wasn't the starter for Tennessee in 2021 until after the Florida game where Joe Milton got hurt.
Milton got hurt in the Pitt game Hooker stated the Florida game that year
It’s a shame they won’t play this year, especially since most analysts will agree they are in that same tier of the SEC where it’s around a 50/50 chance they make the expanded playoffs.
Fr it would show a lot between the two programs

One of my favorite games as a Tennessee fan, was Josh Dobbs Senior Day against Missouri.
It felt like both teams were going back and forth the entire first half with 50+ yarders.
It was so fun.
I was at that game. It was an amazing experience.
As a TN fan, I never bet on Mizzou matchups for this exact reasoning. 😂😂 You never know which team is showing up in this match up.

Life long TN native here (36) guys we have like 5 rival games already. Please. We cant name all our SEC games "whatever week in October" Im begging you. At this rate ALL our SEC games will be rivalries lol.
Mizzou is good. I always get nervous seeing em on schedule. You never know which team will show up.
Then again im the type of guy of UT doest represent the SEC i pull for whoever. F the rest. SEC is the BEST.
I agree with that statement as a Missouri fan. Every game can’t be a rivalry.
While I wouldn't call it a rivalry, I am more than happy to dub this the Bullshit Bowl. One team is almost guaranteed to blow out the other and and unless one has a contending run in the regular season, it's almost impossible to know who will be on the wrong side of it. The only sure thing is to bet on the over.
I would love to have you talk about Boise State. The rivalry vs Fresno State - the battle of the milk can. Began 0-2, then beat the #8 ranked Bulldogs to spark an 11-1 run for 12 years, but now the schools have split 7/6 since then with Fresno winning the last two.
Love that this "rivalry" wont be played for the next two years cause SEC scheduling sucks rn.
Also, the lack of year in year out good performances from both teams shows how this isnt a rivalry. Rivalries make for close games. Tennessee and Missou really arent priorities on each others schedules.

Very true, a lot of the years that Florida beat Tennessee they actually end up having a worse win loss by the end of the year I am not really sure how it happens, I guess hate can do some weird things to a team it's almost like it boosts them in ways.

It's not so much a rivalry. We hate Nebraska from our days in the Big 8 and. Tennessee fans look and act like Nebraska fans. They like to think we're no better than Vanderbilt, and we don't like being looked down on. So every couple of years they kick our butts and. every couple of years we kick theirs,
Let’s be real though, you can’t have a rivalry with every team in your conference (or at the time division), that is stupid. So Mizzou isn’t considered a rival to TN or by their fans, not because their fans don’t respect your team (I mean their current HC was your old OC) but because they are too busy dealing with their actual rivals (Bama, UGA, Florida), those rivalries have been going on for nearly 100 years. Sorry 12 years isn’t enough to take that seriously. Doesn’t make the game boring to watch, actually tends to be one of the more fun games until the Drinkster started talking smack and encouraging his players to do the same when they aren’t even playing TN this year. Just a weird look.

UT gives Missouri next to none props. They have had some decent teams but UT never seems to give a shat about playing them. They just don’t register as a rival.

Lmao Mizzou is cool awesome RB had great QBs but only been in sec since 12. Would be like OK coming in this year and saying. Hey. UT. We are rivals now. In the 90s It would be. FL and UT. Winner pretty much goes to play for a national title. Some stakes have to be on the line.

I remember that first Tennesse-Mizzou game.
I ***despise*** turn down for what because they played that game FOR EVER SINGLE THIRD DOWN in a game where they made sure to have as many third downs as possible.
The crazy part about all this is that when all these blow out happen, both schools have almost always been in some type of coaching transition and / rebuilding stage. This would be in the only time where either coach isnt a new or rebuidlig coach. Mizzou has only had 3 coaches since moving to the sec and TN has had like 6... Both schools finally have some coaching stability and now they won't play for at least another 2 years or so...

This isn’t a rival game by any stretch of our imagination on rocky top. We just kick their butts every year with the exception of last year. Dinkwitz and Co. had one outlier year last year, and they’ll go 9-3 this year on that cakewalk of a schedule, lose by like 30 in a bowl game, and go right back where they belong. To the lower-mid tier of the SEC

All I remember is Tennessee throwing a hail marry down to the 1 yard line.. calling a time out… and punching it in from the 1 with 30 seconds left while also already up 50. For no reason. Then we turned around the next year and floored them in a game they were favored in, they even called a timeout in the closing seconds after throwing another bomb to attempt a field goal in a game that wasn’t close at all and ended up missing it which was as hilarious. It's stories like this that really ignite rivalries to begin with. An inciting incident and a lot of smack talk can turn a normal game into a rivalry. Florida wasn't the mega hated rival it became to Tennessee until the early 90's when spurrier started talking shit in the news and taunting the whole fanbase. If we kept playing them regularly and silly stuff kept happening...no reason why it couldn't become a real rivalry
