    Thank you for this video! I just bought the 50 pint and for anyone who runs into this issue, I found that you can’t use the humidity arrow buttons when the continuous setting is on, which I suppose makes sense. Insignia customer support told me this after I thought my unit had a malfunction :)

    6:22 The basement apartment I'm moving into currently sports a 82% humidity level, so yeah, 50 sounds pretty amazing, LOL.

      Wow 82% sounds a bit.....uncomfortable! This should help. You’ll probably need to empty the bin a LOT during the first week or so. After that it should level out.

    So I got one of these and was waiting for the second video promised on attaching and using the hose/s and now find out it was not necessary for you...I find this happens on too many UA-cam videos where the author does not edit their content. Is it very hard to edit the video to remove the expected content follow up? I went around the site looking for it and had to read the comments to find out it was not forthcoming it's disappointing as the rest of the info was helpful. I don't know if UA-cam should be more aware of these failings or if they just don't care as long as they get the commercial money. A bit of both I suppose. If I was more technical and video savvy I would venture to do my own follow up however lack of time and in no way expecting to match the quality of the said video I would not endeveaur to try.

      I still have the little giant sitting in a box. Maybe one day I will hook it up. But this thing is a beast at 70 pints; after the first few weeks of regulating the humidity, I find I only have to change the bucket every so often. I’m sorry I failed you, dark prince. 🧛‍♂️

      Not too flexible. You can just set how many hours you want it to run for. For what you’re looking to do, you might want to attach it to a smart plug and set a schedule that way 👍

    I am new to dehumidifiers. Does the one you have actually pump the water trough a hose or it relies on gravity. You talk about adding a pump but I thought it might have an internal pump built in???

    • @QuickTechReviews
      @QuickTechReviews  3 роки тому +1

      This particular model does not have a built in pump, but you can find units with built in pumps for usually 75-100 more. You can also buy a separate pump and some tubing for 40 bucks at hardware store.

    • @QuickTechReviews
      @QuickTechReviews  2 роки тому +1

      Standard garden hose - so typically would buy a cheap one, attach one end to this and if you have a floor drain, just point it there. If you need to pump it up and out to a sink or elsewhere you’ll need a little giant pump and some tubing.

      Actually - after running it for a 2 weeks and emptying the bucket every day - now the basement is nice and dry and the unit rarely runs. I keep it at around 45 humidity level. I guess once it sucks out all the water in the first few days, it doesn't need to work as hard to keep it at that level. No little giant pump needed!

    I just picked up the 35 pint version and was looking to hook up a hose for drainage. Does a standard garden hose work?

    • @QuickTechReviews
      @QuickTechReviews  4 роки тому

      It should - yes. Just make sure whatever you’re draining to is lower than the unit. If not, or if it has to travel some distance to drain, pick up a little giant condensate pump.

  • @demetriosa7646
    @demetriosa7646 3 роки тому

    Just purchased the 50 pint model. For the hose drainage all u do is plug in a hose. Do u need to put some kind of adapter to divert water to the hose and not the basin. I’m planning on draining it into my little giant pump that my furnace and central Ac use to discharge water.

    • @QuickTechReviews
      @QuickTechReviews  3 роки тому +1

      You can just put in a hose - it will drain via gravity. I didn't want to have it drain into my sump pit - and then continue to dehumidify that water; so was going to put it into a little giant and shoot it down my sink - but never got around to it. Unit still works and the 70 pint is a beast.

    Is it normal that this thing blows hot air?

    • @JDowPCs
      @JDowPCs 3 роки тому

      Yup, functionally that's how dehumidifiers work. Internally, they're not too different from an AC unit, but instead of dumping the hot air outside, it recirculates it back inside. So you get dehumidified air, in trade for some heat output.
