"Beauty and the Beat" is a great album. Perfect pop punk rock'n roll. The Go Go's wrote their own songs and played their own instruments. A proper band. A real gem in the history of rock.
This song always reminds me of the first time I heard it on Solid Gold at a slumber party when I was 13. It was their debut perfomance and we thought they were great. 💗
The Go Go’s are really cool. I recommend Our Lips are Sealed and Head over Heels. Also if you want to check out more all female rock bands I recommend L7 and The Donnas. There a little more modern.
The go-gos & the donnas& bannnarama &, the bangles were great girl groups in the 80" wish they would come back with new music & new concert DVDs...I love y'all ❤😊
'We Got the Beat' and 'Our Lips' are Sealed were the big 2 singles from 1st album- "Beauty and the Beat'which still holds the records for weeks at #1 for a female band- 6 weeks). They had 2 other albums before their original break up- and hits from those includes "Vacation', and "Head over Heals'. After the break up- Belinda- the lead singer, went solo and her first hit- 'Mad About You' was originally intended for the 4th Go Go's album- but that didn't happen because of the break up- but Belinda kept the song for herself. "We Got the Beat' was featured in numerous commercials and in the film, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High'. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2018-19.
The lead singer Belinda Carlisle went on to have several hits as a solo artist too and one of the other band members Jane Wiedlin also had a minor hit.
Fun fact in their documentary Charlotte said that she got the idea of the song by watching a episode of the Twilight Zone. When she heard the opening theme, the idea popped into her head.
Interesting fact: During the 80's when it came to partying after a gig, Mötley Crüe was considered to be the hardest partying band of all, who was rated number two...The Go Go's.
Back when music could just plain be fun.
Yes. So good. :-)

Gogos "Our lips are sealed" ❤ original video
Showtime had a good documentary about them in 2020.
Check out The Bangles. They are another all female band.
I was 12 and I was so obsessed 🔥🔥🔥
Fun music. Miss that.❤❤❤❤❤
Yes, music can be fun and not offend anyone.
They were a fun band

this song was the opening to the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Love the Go go's! Good review

This was filmed at a high school.

I would have to classify this as Pop.
Belinda Carlisle was my second crush (as a young kid) after Janet Jackson when she was in Different Strokes
They were famose for out partying the hardest partying rock bands of that erra and were the first girl band who had male groupies .

This pop hit was so big that u heard it in a widely seen 2000s American TV ad. Song was too short bc it was made for radio (about 2 1/2 minutes).
Only all female band that wrote and played their own music to have a number one album. 16 weeks I believe.
Why don't you consider doing the all female band Klymaxx "The Men all Pause".
Vacation
Hof-inductees/members...
The studio version is much better. In this video, the lead singer, Belinda is singing off key and flat. The micing isnt isn’t that good either.
