Thanks for posting after chat on UA-cam it's my primary content delivery, versus twitch. Because you put it on UA-cam this was the first time I've watched the after chat
Josh, thanks for mistakenly live streaming the after chat. I knew about the discord, and have it on my phone, but was unfamiliar how it worked. Watching this has helped understand what is is, and how it works.
Hey dude, Big fan, you make some great content! I have been slowly learning about HAM radio from your videos and dipped my toes by buying the infamous UV-5R all thanks to your content. Seriously thanks. Taking the time to help folks like myself learn about your passion is a very nice thing to do. I have been googling and can't quite find an answer to this question though. maybe I am not searching the correct terms? What if two people with low power handsets (like the UV-5R) want to talk to each other long distance, and each are out of the range of a repeater close enough to the other to use? Could you do something like: Person A: Set transmit frequency to the receive frequency of the repeater near A and monitor the transmit frequency of repeater near person B Person B: Set transmit frequency to the receive frequency of the repeater near B and monitor the transmit frequency of repeater near person A What I am worried about is you are using a repeater without monitoring who is using it, so you could cut into someone's conversation by accident. Is this possible or am I misunderstanding something? Thank you!
Hard to say not enough information provided. Things like what band would you be looking at using, simplex or repeaters, digital or analog, what type of digital repeater do you have in your area DMR, DSTAR Fusion, are you planning to do satellite communications. If you are a new ham as I am got my tech in November & general in December. I bought a Yaesu FT3DR and am happy with it but needed to get an antenna to hear many of the repeaters in my area. HTs only have low wattage so cant always reach the folks I can hear. If you are going to be in one location a more powerful base station may be a way to go. You are for sure in the right place if you are following HRCC, Ham Radio 2.0, Ham Nation, Dave Casler and the ARRL. Good luck and welcome to Ham Radio
New to the ham world.. studing for the test. Want to buy my 1st radio. I live in indiana and want to talk to my daughter in michigan. Is that possible and if so.. what radio/equipement would i need to do that.. thanks
@@HamRadioCrashCourse to put you on the spot, did you feel the yaesu ftdx 10 build quality match the 7300? also did one better the other as far as fun factor of operating? I like the idea of mouse operating/ larger display of the yaesu and the noise reduction sounds better on the yaesu...

Re: 40 meter dipole A 70 ohm antenna connected via 3/4 wave length of coax could invert impedance down to around 35 ohms...

Is there a website that shows where ham radio repeaters are located in KY, USA?
