Great history! We visited in 2016 before the fire and we were moved by the space. We gave money for the restoration after the fire. But I did not know much about the 19th century restoration. I hope to return one of these days.
Well, they did a great reconstruction and to be fair: most old buildings are to a certain extend reconstructions as they were rescued from the ravages of time.
If you can’t see the value of the building itself, that’s a shame. But if you need a materialist justification for the renovation, then you may be interested to know that every penny of the money spent on the renovation of the cathedral has gone toward employment for hundreds and hundreds of people. From entry level jobs to highly skilled professionals. What’s more, they will carry the skills they have learned to other projects when this is done.

I am not religious at all, but I am happy to see this fantastic building restored.
Such a great documentary from Part1 to Part4. Thanks.

I think it is a flèche.
Was the cause of the fire ever found out?
IMHO organized religion is a huge hoax. However, this building, and its' history and art, really reaches the heart. 😊😊
Very cynical remark, Notre Dame is an important part of French history.
How many people would the money from that reconstruction feed.
Waste. People should boycott the tourist trap

@@Lao_Thor all for another symbol for wealthy catholic cult. You can’t think of another project in whole country to provide jobs and training?
Do you really think that money is the only thing that feeds people?
