Try sugar free gummy bears. Just eat the whole bag and you will have a rocket liftoff in the toilet.

Must admit, season 10 is better than I expected.

Seen plenty enough lab experiments where they heat glass directly (one where they vaporized diamonds in a glass tube was cool) to know it's possible, with the right type of glass. Borosilicate glass has a veeery low thermal expansion factor, and can take a very high heat load without breaking. Pyrex home dishes used to be made of that, but unfortunately they've since switched to tempered glass, which isn't nearly as tough against heat. =(

Mythbusters is all about learning... even in simple ways. I watch Adam through MB until Tested, and when I see him put Glass + Sugar DIRECTLY on fire I realize that anyone can't know everything at the same time.

It's not impossible for good quality borosilicate glass to handle that just fine, lab beakers from Pyrex often handle WAY worse situations. Unfortunately Pyrex cookware in the US used to be made of pretty much the same stuff, but these days is "just" tempered soda lime glass, which is prone to exactly this happening. You can still get proper borosilicate glass cookware from Pyrex in Europe though, and for those I wouldn't really expect to have any problems.

Remember, if anyone ever tells you that "you're full of sh-t", just think "rocket fuel!".

So in a nutshell you can make a low explosive out of just about anything combustible if it is refined enough and mixed with an oxidizer.

LOx is 'explosively compatible' with literally any hydrocarbon.
That's what makes it so dangerous.

try adding a little sodium or potassium perchlorate to the gummy bears. I think you will find it gets far more exiting.

It begs the question why not use standard white granular sugar, surely not having to boil off water to start with will improve the prospects...? 😊❤ A

if you are doing a sugar rocket "properly" that is where you start (though they tend to be smaller rockets) but rocket hobbyists are slightly insane and try to make them out of everything with a high enough sugar content

The poop is interesting except you’d need all the equipment up in space with you to turn it into rocket fuel. You’d also need a lot of it.

Poop ain't as useless anymore. My Cousins Master Degree was turn it into a Bio Polymer that could be used in place of traditional Plastic. And it works. You can make Containers out of it to protect things, make them rugged, even use in place of a lot of packing material.

Does not mean black smoke lack of oxidizer? It would probably fly even better with a different ratio.
