- 2012 BMW 525d (218hp, 450Nm) as the new 4-cylinder TwinPower Diesel engine. This particular model Comes almost fully equiped and runs on 18 Inch wheels. The Touring features BMW's AWD System called xDrive which is a perfect combination to the glorious 8-speed (ZF). The ride is very comortable while the engine can cleary be recognized as a 4-cylinder. Unfortunately all these extras as well as xDrive and Touring add a lot off weight to this car. Probably half a ton more than the GTI MkV.
No, I doubt it. GPS Speed it will do something Close to 240 km/h, but with a long attempt and I doubt that you could reach 260 km/h speedometer speed with this.
Unfortunately the 5-series with xDrive is a heavy car, thats why I do not know if I would recommend it, the real drive Version offers better driving and is more fuel efficient. I would say to take the 20d over the 25d since you will not realize a big difference under everyday conditions. The 25d is still not fast and has the same acoustics as the 20d. If you really want more than you are right, go with a 30d and you get a totally different car.

your post is a long time ago, but this car never reaches 7secs from 0 - 100. Sure, it has 218HP, but this Engine is at least in Sport Mode not the fastes. I drove this car 3 days ago on the german autobahn and yeah, 8 secs are realistic. And 19 Secs from 100 to 200 - never! Maybe you saw a video from a 306HP castrol engine.
With launch control, sport gear, 6.9 sec is possibile with berlina.

Well, hard to say, that depends on the price difference in your Country. You always have to consider that both engines feel exactly the same at around 80% of the time, when you are cruising through traffic. No doubt you can feel the tourque of the 25d. The 25d I drove had AWD and a lot of Options, the 20d was a real-wheel drive and a Sedan, so that makes it hard to compare. Still, I would suggest you getting a 20d (184hp) and that 8-speed. Only a 530d will give you significantly more!
cuz 25d is more economical and fast nearly like 28i ;)

Well I have driven a 525x drive station wagon, really nice exterior!
Just wanna make it clear, the BMW is to heavy for this engine.
Partially you have to fear a golf diesel, especially up to 200Km/h.

@@niko5646 that comes with the ambient lighting package. I think you can buy a kit on ebay though. You can probably find OEM ones too, which look better but not sure how easy it is to retrofit. Mine came with those as well from the factory.

I have the same car but xdrive. How can you do 7.3 l/100 km at 200kmh …. ??? my does 10 l/100 km …. :( it do 7.0 at 50 kmh

hubraum ist um nichts zu ersetzen nur miot noch mehr hubraum
ich scheis auf diese ganze downsizing trends
es mus schon ein v6 sein fur 218ps und mindestens 3liter hubraum
ein bmw soll kraftig klingen und nicht wie eine schwule katze

Robert McNamara Da labert mal wieder jemand schönen Schwachsinn... BMW ohne 6 Zylinder ist kein BMW? Wie kommt es dann, dass einer der beliebtesten BMWs der 2002 ist? Und nennen Sie mir bitte einen BMW mit V6! So einen Schwachsinn hab ich selten gehört, die sind für Ihre Reihensechser bekannt! Wir hatten früher einen E39 528i und der zog lange nicht so gut wie der „downsizing“-520d, wegen den gut 100nm mehr Drehmoment und der hat 175k km ohne ein Problem hinter sich... Probieren geht über studieren, aber wenn man schon so eine große Klappe hat, dann sollte man wenigstens irgendwas studiert haben. Viel Spaß weiterhin mit den 3l+ Motoren, aber die sind ja im Vergleich zu den alten 3,5l im E34 auch schon „Downsizing-Müll“... schon klar.
