    ...it is not 30mm cannon. It is a 27mm Mauser BK 27 revolver-loaded autocannon with up to 1700 r.p.m. It ist the same gun as into the Tornado-Jet and the German light-weight-navy-gun-system....

    • @agactual7901
      @agactual7901 Рік тому +5

      Plus 27mm is the odd size , internationally far more common to get ammunitions in 20mm, 25mm or 30mm.
      Better export potential in 25mm or 30mm.
      How many countries still use Tornado Jets?

      @@agactual7901 bk 27 is also in use in the Eurofighter and as Rcws on ships like the MLG 27 on use of most if not all german warship. The thing with 30mm is that there is no real good alternativ. The 30x113mm is to inefective in anti Armor and 30x173 to strong in recoil, to big and the cannons are heavy close 2 to 3 time the weight of bk 27. 25mm would have been Possible but why a knew caliber when you got one. Tought bk 27 fires far to fast with an RoF from 1000 to 1700 shoots but i think single shoot is also there

      @scratchy996 Рік тому +3

      @@agactual7901 They don't plan to export it, it's too much of a niche vehicle, designed for the needs of the German paratroopers. T
      he total length, width, height and weight of the vehicle is determined by the internal size and lift capacity of the CH-53 helicopter, which has to carry two of these.
      Valhalla designed a turret that's just high enough to fit. So they put the biggest cannon that fits on the turret, that also has to be light enough.
      IF they wish to export it, there are plenty of other turrets and remote weapon station available on the market.

    Question on so many minds:
    Why?, as why did they go for Split / Quad Tracks?
    What gains,advantage does it have over twin tracts vehicles?

      Simple because it gives better mine Protection. You can lose 1 maybe 2 tracks each on one side and you could still drive.

    • @maxjohnson1758
      @maxjohnson1758 Рік тому +1

      @Kqcke for You Exactly. Losing a track is often how tracked vehicles are immobilized and taken out. That's what anti-tank mines are actually designed to do, blow off the track.

    • @kqckeforyou4433
      @kqckeforyou4433 Рік тому +1

      Disadvangte is a little more complex and heavier Design with more parts. Also it is a litte questionable at how usefull it is with the small weight of LuWa not mutch can go to mine Protection. But that is a question i cannot answer

    • @RalfJosefFries
      @RalfJosefFries Рік тому +6

      for tracked vehicles, their is a thing called "steering Ratio": That is the length of the Track that is in contact to the ground divided through the width of the track gauge. When an tracked vehicle wants to turn, the tracks have to work in different speeds - that means that the one track try´s to work on an lever with the length of the track gauge against the "resisitance" of the whole length of that part of the track on the opposite side that has contact with the ground. this simply means that if the "steering Ratio" is great - long tracklengt on the ground and narrow track gauge - you need an great amount of torque ( = engine power) to turn the vehicle. For an good steering, the steering ratio of an tracked vehicle should be near or even under 1 (track gauge = tracklengt on the ground) - then you can turn fast and easy. But unfortunatly, the size of roads or transport vehicles makes it hard to impossible to widen the track gauge. Result: Long Tracks and so bad steering. This was for example an great problem of french tanks before WWII - the french ministry of defence had ordered that any tank had to fit narrow french roads - means they had to be narrower than 2,5 to 2,7 m ( 8 - 9 feet). And so the french engeneers had to "squeeze" the whole "tank-stuff" in relatively narrow but long vehicles. and that made them hard to steer. And sothe steering system was a weak point for nearly all french tanks of the 40´s - german tanks of that era were build so that had only to fit the railway-transport-limitations, means they had to be smaler than 3,3 m ( 11 feet) - quiet a difference. today small roads are less of an problem, but if you want to transport an vehicle via airlift or in an container.... and mobility/easy steering is even more important then ever to avoid to be hit. So to avoid too long trackslengths - simply divide the tracks in 2 independent track-sets. So you can build all necessary "tank-stuff" in an narrow and easy to transport vehicle that has then also good steering capabilities. Unfortunatly by doing so you add a "little bit" more complexity to the vehicle. Hope to have helped.

      This is thought for air defense in first place. Defense against drones for example. The bigger and heavier the ordnance the less you can take with you. It would also mean a much bigger and heavier gun and more stress on the frame.

    • @maxjohnson1758

      Yeah, but it keeps a shot to the track or hitting a mine from disabling the vehicle, since it can lose one of the front tracks and still keep going. Pretty genius, really, since that is how tracked vehicles are often taken out.
