Hi Matt with E-trailer and today we're talking about the WeatherTech front and rear mud flaps on our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now this would be a great option for you if you're looking at keeping your vehicle a little more clean because maybe you're going and hitting some trails or you're hauling a small trailer behind you. You don't want a lot of debris hitting that, so let's check 'em out. The way this is gonna attach is this is going inside the your wheel, kinda on that fender. You're gonna be using your factory screws that come on your vehicle so you don't have to worry about having any additional hardware. What's really nice about this is this is a very custom fit.
The way this contours to the shape of your vehicle is gonna look really factory, and with more of a custom fit design. This is also gonna help reduce any mud from splattering up and hitting the side of your vehicle. As you can see, we have some splatter on there right now and that's kind of what you're gonna expect to see if you are driving some more muddy areas, and cleaning this trim we got right here, it's gonna be a little bit more difficult as opposed to the paint up here. That dirts aren't really gonna pop, and if you are looking at having more of a clean finish to your vehicle, this is gonna be a great investment. And the rear side is gonna be pretty much exactly the same as the front side.
It's still gonna be that custom fit design. It's gonna use your factory hardware. And as you can see, we have a lot of dirt that's been kicked up and all that dirt, you can tell this has been taking a beating, beating here too. I've got some scratches at the bottom and that's kind of what you're expecting to see kick up from behind your tire. There's gonna be a lot of dirt, rocks, anything like that.
And if you are hauling anything where you don't want that dirt or rocks hitting, this is gonna help prevent that from getting to your trailer. And if you're not interested in getting the whole kit together, you can get 'em as individual kits so you can get the front by themselves or the rear by themselves. Now in some cases, if you're just getting this to help your vehicle look more clean, then I think getting the whole set is gonna be better for you, but if you're just looking for a little more protection for the rear side, then I think just a rear mudflow that you just find too. Now keep in mind this is gonna help keep the side of your vehicle more clean on that trim, but the mats or the mud flaps themselves are gonna get dirty right on the inside right here. But in all honesty, that's something I would prefer to have dirty, especially since you can remove this if you wish, and clean it off and then put it right back on.
If you're curious about how that looks, just stay tuned and we'll walk you through the process. To set off the installation, we're only gonna grab a few things. It's not gonna require a whole lot. We're gonna grab our mud flap, we're gonna make sure we have the right one for the correct side. And you'll notice it says RH on the inside. That's gonna stand for right hand side or the passenger side, and make sure you're on the passenger side of your vehicle. We're also gonna have this strip right here. We're not gonna be using this today. And all this is gonna be doing is protecting the paint around your vehicle. The reason why we're not using it is 'cause we're not installing this permanently. In all honesty, there's not a whole lot of reason I think, in my opinion to use this since we are just putting this on plastic. But if you wanna install that, your instructions tell you how to do it, but it's mainly just cleaning this off, matching up where your mud flap goes and then sticking it on into place. But this is also gonna be the same installation for the backside too. And also recommend grabbing a eight millimeter socket and wrench to help install this. What's really nice about the WeatherTech designs are they design around the hardware already installed in your vehicle. So the screws we're gonna be using are the two in the bottom, and then we're gonna go up, find one more and find the last one just above that. If you're ever worried about losing them or not knowing what screws to go into, you can actually just hold the mud flap up to your vehicle. Okay, latch on and grab into place and make sure you can see those screws behind there. And we're just gonna remove each one of those with that eight millimeter socket and take 'em right off. And you'll just repeat that process for t
