Council waste so much of the taxpayers money that just takes the piss feel sad for the homeless people😢 . The government are hitting out at the poorest people 😡
Appreciate your sentiment but this is naive. Building a tent on a bench will only encourage homeless people to continue sleeping rough. I work in an environment that supports homeless people (not in Bournemouth) and know that many (not all) have complex support needs. We must encourage them to engage with the available specialist support organisations and the relevant housing team. It's likely that these are very limited resources but this is where your energy would be better spent. Not a criticism but next time you do this ask the bystanders to actually do something. Invite a rough sleeper for a meal or offer a bed (or sofa) for the night. Maybe volunteer at a night shelter. I'd be very interested to see the outcome.
Who's Naive? There are not enough houses/flats for people in general and how does a homeless person pay for rent etc. They will not get a job being homeless. Yes it's a vicious circle but to suggest a sheet of plastic is going to encourage them to remain homeless is ludicrous. You do realise the bit about the tent was supposed to be tongue in cheek.
Of course I get it but I think the bystanders believed this was a serious solution. Like I say I actually work in the social housing sector and help people find REAL solutions. This stunt is a distraction from the real issue. My view is that Prof Green's time would be better spent raising awareness of the lack of specialist support services. Then he could look at local authorities who make the process of building new homes unnecessarily difficult.
There’s a lot of people in Bournemouth who are not even homeless. I live in the centre and most of them are professional beggars. Be careful who you give your money too. However, I will say great idea however the reason for this was to stop encouraging people to sleep rough. I know some homeless who have been offered help and shelter and don’t want to take it. They prefer to live on the streets. Usually because they earn more by begging than they would getting a standard job. This isn’t every homeless person, but the majority I’ve met. It is crazy though how the council have paid that amount on these stupid bars.
Dwp in Bournemouth house absolutely anyone £70 a week rent. It's ok for you Stephen living off your big divorce settlement. Don't actually act like you care, you could easily fit 50 homeless people in your house.
Councils are dreadful ..The money, it's not even their money, should be better spent on food and shelter for the homeless! Woeful rotten mean idea by council.
Professor Green you have a heart of gold, well done for this. Absolutely dreadful not allowing a homeless person to have a warmer level to sleep on and not spending this rediculous amount on providing adequate shelter for those that need it. Not to mention how dreadful the bars look and how dangerous they are for those with sensory loss and children who may sit in the wrong place or get stuck around. I've seen it all now, whoever passed this at the council needs to be sacked.
That’s actually inspirational. But Smile Grill on Charminister Road actually give free meals to homeless people . We need more restaurants and takeaways 2 give free food out.
3k for a metal bar fixed to a bench lmao... says it all really... we all know they spend 10000x what it should cost, because someone somewhere is pocketing it. You from Bournemouth Stephen?
Watched yesterday on IG and been thinking about it so much. Well done for raising awareness of this disgusting behaviour from the council. Don't stop Mr Green 😊
That old woman put it perfectly

Massive respect to you professor green. Thank god the council are now removing these barbaric things. Outrageous.
Just take the benches away. Then there wont be any of this fuss! Give the benches to police or doctors to sit on

Ingenious - spotted you on Instagram and this is just brilliant. Keep up the crusade 👌🏻
Well, the idea is that councils don't want rough sleepers. They want to discourage it and so it is not in their interest to do such things as this.
my fav rapper. needs to tell them as he is a good man really. ☺👍 totally agree.
I love you Prof Green 😍
