i'm lactose intolerant too, and I find that milk substitutes, particularly fattier milk substitutes like coconut milk, still work to soothe the burn of capsaicin.

I made the mistake of opening a bottle of beer. Alcohol really does not go well with these. Usually I hate milky drinks with hot foods since I don't find they complement very well, but damn was it necessary here.

I accidentally bought these instead of the regular one and ate them all for about a week and now I don't feel like the original is as spicy. I've built up my spicy tolorance thanks to these haha.
When I tried these, I was so shocked at how immediate the spiciness kicked in compared to the original one. Afterwards, I was sitting with a tub of ice cream trying to make the pain go away.
I've eaten all 5 of my packs now. One thing is for certain, there is no way that these are only 8'700 Scoville units. A hobanero pepper is around 500,000 Scoville units and is milder than these noodles.

The heat seems inconsistent to me. From a 5-pack I've had 3 packets that were about as hot as i'd expected being 2x the original heat, but the other 2 packets were WAY more spicy. Instead of the usual emanating heat you get from buldak ramen, they had that concentrated searing pain that attacks spots of your tongue like you'd get eating a raw habenero. I think it's luck of the draw depending on the spicyness of the peppers that go into a particular batch of sauce.
These noodles are amazing when you have a cold or a stuck nose. Always keep a few packs at home for when i need them. Also great when the weather is too hot, makes you sweat and cools you down! They are pretty painful tho. compared to the original that are just very tasty these are more of an physical experience than a gourmet experience.
i'm 12 and i really wanted to keep practicing to eat spicy food and i use these noodles to practice.. i used to cry while eating them but now i eat them like regular food.. try adding cheese and a runny sunny side up egg, tastes delicious

I just tried these for the first time, and surprisingly they hardly burned my lips at all. They didn't make my nose run any worse than regular hot sauce, but WOW they made me sweat and made my eyes water! Tears flowing uncontrollably! It was worth it, though... I loved the flavor beneath all the spiciness - very delicious. I think the key difference was that I scarfed them down a lot faster than you did. I was able to enjoy the flavor before the capsaicin completely overwhelmed my taste buds. I was also surprised that the heat didn't last very long after I finished eating. Not a bad thing!
My sister got some of these noodles for me this year for xmas. I have a pretty high tolerance for heat and had no idea people were eating them as a challenge. They're definitely hot but absolutely delicious. I am really impressed with how you held your own here. Most of the other people I've seen eat these are hilariously dramatic.
My wife bought a 5 pack of these for me. They are brutally hot. I typically add about 20% of the spice packet and even then it is extremely spicy ramen.
I absolutely LOVE spicy foods as long as they still taste good. I find to many companies and restaurants give up actual flavor just to have something be hot
So I found these in our local 99 cents only store. Made the hubby eat it, he added some parmesan cheese and says, while hot, he's enjoying it. One bite for me though, and I was done! I don't really understand the appeal of having food so spicy that all you taste is fire 🎆 but I do really enjoy adding spicy notes to my food! My favourites are sriracha, pili-pili, cayenne, black pepper, wasabi, ginger, Spanish brava sauce, gochujang and sambal oelek. I feel like each spicy condiment/spice adds their own special kick to a dish, and I have a great time experimenting 😄 Emmy, have you always been lactose intolerant? I know your description, for the longest time, said you had no food allergies. Half my friends have developed an intolerance to lactose in the last two years, now I'm wondering if that's something that tends to happen.
I just ordered them a few days ago so I think I’m gonna get them tomorrow. Now I’m scared. Edit: so I did eat them and they were so good. Spicy as heck, but not completely intolerable. I refrained from drinking water because it felt worse. My ears were ringing after a while but I finished them and I didn’t have a stomach ache. At the end I did eat a piece of bread which helped me with the heat a bit.
As a person with GERD, a hiatal hernia, and acid reflux, this episode makes me shudder - I feel like I'm going to wake up in the middle of a night with a really bad attack of acid reflux. Also - mix a little honey into your milk!

I tried this today and holy crap I never ate anything so hot. The burn at the end is the worst, it just radiates while you're tearing up and drinking milk only provides seconds of relief
I had the original ones and they were delicious but the spiciness is too overwhelming. Also, she's right, don't eat them with an empty stomach because that's what I did and it felt terrible halfway through. I had to stop eating because it didn't feel right to keep eating even though I was hungry! Overall not an enjoyable meal, it's more of a novelty food, as a joke or one-time thing.
Sara my mom ate Two packets straight on an empty stomach for lunch, she said it wasn’t really spicy enough for her, and she just ate it like normal and I was like WTF?? She left me one spoonful to try and it was so darn hot
I eat them on an empty stomach for a meal too :) but I've also learnt it's not a good idea to eat them two hours before going to sleep. More time space is needed. It makes me my stomach very uncomfortable as it needs to digest the capsicin.

I accidentally bought these instead of the regular one and ate them all for about a week and now I don't feel like the original is as spicy. I've built up my spicy tolorance thanks to these haha.
I like a spicy that builds up to when you finish your food not a spicy that when its the first bite and you fell like your dying.

I've eaten all 5 of my packs now. One thing is for certain, there is no way that these are only 8'700 Scoville units. A hobanero pepper is around 500,000 Scoville units and is milder than these noodles.

I came here to see if anyone had the answer as I don't understand it at all.
The heat seems inconsistent to me. From a 5-pack I've had 3 packets that were about as hot as i'd expected being 2x the original heat, but the other 2 packets were WAY more spicy. Instead of the usual emanating heat you get from buldak ramen, they had that concentrated searing pain that attacks spots of your tongue like you'd get eating a raw habenero. I think it's luck of the draw depending on the spicyness of the peppers that go into a particular batch of sauce.
These noodles are amazing when you have a cold or a stuck nose. Always keep a few packs at home for when i need them. Also great when the weather is too hot, makes you sweat and cools you down!
They are pretty painful tho. compared to the original that are just very tasty these are more of an physical experience than a gourmet experience.

i'm 12 and i really wanted to keep practicing to eat spicy food and i use these noodles to practice.. i used to cry while eating them but now i eat them like regular food.. try adding cheese and a runny sunny side up egg, tastes delicious

I just tried these for the first time, and surprisingly they hardly burned my lips at all. They didn't make my nose run any worse than regular hot sauce, but WOW they made me sweat and made my eyes water! Tears flowing uncontrollably! It was worth it, though... I loved the flavor beneath all the spiciness - very delicious. I think the key difference was that I scarfed them down a lot faster than you did. I was able to enjoy the flavor before the capsaicin completely overwhelmed my taste buds. I was also surprised that the heat didn't last very long after I finished eating. Not a bad thing!

My sister got some of these noodles for me this year for xmas. I have a pretty high tolerance for heat and had no idea people were eating them as a challenge. They're definitely hot but absolutely delicious. I am really impressed with how you held your own here. Most of the other people I've seen eat these are hilariously dramatic.

My wife bought a 5 pack of these for me. They are brutally hot. I typically add about 20% of the spice packet and even then it is extremely spicy ramen.

I absolutely LOVE spicy foods as long as they still taste good. I find to many companies and restaurants give up actual flavor just to have something be hot
So I found these in our local 99 cents only store. Made the hubby eat it, he added some parmesan cheese and says, while hot, he's enjoying it. One bite for me though, and I was done! You're a braver woman than I! Thank you for turning us onto these delicious noodles!

I don't really understand the appeal of having food so spicy that all you taste is fire 🎆 but I do really enjoy adding spicy notes to my food! My favourites are sriracha, pili-pili, cayenne, black pepper, wasabi, ginger, Spanish brava sauce, gochujang and sambal oelek. I feel like each spicy condiment/spice adds their own special kick to a dish, and I have a great time experimenting 😄
Emmy, have you always been lactose intolerant? I know your description, for the longest time, said you had no food allergies. Half my friends have developed an intolerance to lactose in the last two years, now I'm wondering if that's something that tends to happen.
Yes, I'm lactose intolerant (it gives me gas) thankfully nothing too crazy.

Edit: so I did eat them and they were so good. Spicy as heck, but not completely intolerable. I refrained from drinking water because it felt worse. My ears were ringing after a while but I finished them and I didn’t have a stomach ache. At the end I did eat a piece of bread which helped me with the heat a bit.
milk, sour cream (my favorite) or yogurt is awesome to cut the spice. adding a little bit salt, sugar, citrus, or all three cuts the spice as well.
As a person with GERD, a hiatal hernia, and acid reflux, this episode makes me shudder - I feel like I'm going to wake up in the middle of a night with a really bad attack of acid reflux.
Also - mix a little honey into your milk!

U should try maggi 2x spicy wayyyyyy more flavourful and spicy. Samyang in my opinion isnt that spicy and the flavor is always lacking compared to its spiciness

I tried this today and holy crap I never ate anything so hot. The burn at the end is the worst, it just radiates while you're tearing up and drinking milk only provides seconds of relief

I had the original ones and they were delicious but the spiciness is too overwhelming. Also, she's right, don't eat them with an empty stomach because that's what I did and it felt terrible halfway through. I had to stop eating because it didn't feel right to keep eating even though I was hungry! Overall not an enjoyable meal, it's more of a novelty food, as a joke or one-time thing.
Sara my mom ate Two packets straight on an empty stomach for lunch, she said it wasn’t really spicy enough for her, and she just ate it like normal and I was like WTF?? She left me one spoonful to try and it was so darn hot
I eat them on an empty stomach for a meal too :) but I've also learnt it's not a good idea to eat them two hours before going to sleep. More time space is needed. It makes me my stomach very uncomfortable as it needs to digest the capsicin.

It's because its actually a common misconception that the mala is 4x spicy, the original is about 4,000 SHU and the mala is only 2,000.
@@cassiecorzine7994 I was just about to say that. There's a guy, TheRamenRater, who wrote out reviews for all nine flavors (this was before the light one came out about five months ago). Mala is not 4x hotter. :)
