Thanks so much for your comments! I'm in Greenland with very limited internet but will get to them eventually! Also the irony of the warped stabiliser on a video about imperfection... 😂
From hot Italy to a cold Greenland. Talk about the extreme. Btw I am one of the millions who has done the thing with the hands against the Pisa tower :-) Fun video, again.
Nice video as always 🙂 Great point on the imperfections. Your authenticity actually was what gave me the confidence to start my photography channel in my second language, even though I haven't had the time to upload a lot recently. Cheers
When I was shooting photos in my home region I forgot the time and ran late for my last train back home. I jogged the last 5 or 7 kiometers or so just to watch it leaving right in front of me. I had two options: walking another 35 km or waiting 8 hours for the next train. I asked google how long it would take to walk home. 6 hours sounded reasonable, but what google and I did not considered were the last 6 hours and 20 km I spend walking. The night got cold - I only had a shirt, because the day was quite warm. My shoes already were worn out - I think my feet would have been better of barefooted. I could not move my body for a whole day. I now know how it must feel when you need to motivate yourself for each and every step you take. That was definitely a lesson... You trying not to miss the flight reminded me of that nightmarish experience.
I bought a Fuji X100S and found the fixed focal length initially frustrating but ultimately liberating. Sometimes you had to walk around to zoom in or out, sometimes you had to get the best framing possible and live with it. I’ve found it a useful lesson in composition. Also Martin Parr did a series on Global Tourism and has a photo of people “propping up” the Leaning Tower. So you’re in good company.
Enjoyed the video James, thanks for showing us around! Hey had a concept idea, here in the US we serve pizza often on a pedestal, so how about using the leaning tower as the pedestal and putting a giant pizza on top! Yes, have it leaning toward the side and some of the hot gooey cheese starting to bunch up near coming off the edge!? It beats the people doing the hold thing and I bet you could really get a great result with your talent! Leaning tower of Pizza!!! If you like the idea throw me a bone, small print for the office would be nice!!! Thanks James! Moonpie
I am highly impressed with my own Google Pixel 2 (regular size) and its camera. Outstanding for street photography. It does force me to move around more than I would with a zoom.
For every 1000 people taking a photo of someone holding up the leaning tower, there are 10 protogs counting them with disdain. (Google 'Graham Clarke tower of leaning pisa'. I used to have a print of that.)(For every 1000 people there is a lot less than 1 Graham Clarke.)
Those tourists were already propping up the tower when I was in Pisa in 1972 and were probably doing it ever since the first photographer came there. And who knows, the thing might have fallen over otherwise...
I couldn't agree more on the theme or the Pixel 2 - such a brilliant phone camera and very capable. How was the Wex event? I missed it as I was on holiday :(
Hilarious and informative content, I think you are top notch on youtube. somehow I'd like you to do more of them how-to videos, and I'd like to watch some non supra-exposed video content on the panasonic's you're shooting on. Although I think creativity and creation are superior to spec, I still like them specs on photo and video content, ...I don't care much for brands, but now when there are no alternatives to sony a7iii, and I'd love to see so me content about the non necessity to get an expensive new gear just to cut the minimum. - Language not my own so you've just have to bare with it.
I'm super impressed by that phone's pictures :o The road trip seems great fun ! And thanks for all the math, that's the kind of stupid fact I love to think about !
A coffee and a criossant while walking about in an unknown place? Lovely, but spells disaster. What if you need to run because that criossant and coffee have spurred on a concoction of imminent activation of your digestive system?! you sir, are brave.
Torn between getting a pixel 2 or waiting for pixel 3, I like to buy my phone outright so maybe 2 when 3 is out is a good option, unless 3 has amazing reviews.
Don't buy a caravan/RV, the maintenance is horrible. Fly someplace and rent one for the week. One thing I would consider is a small camper van like the old VW Vanagon. Easier to drive, use less fuel, can park anywhere....
Hello. Always great videos. Re PERMITS. Is there a Catch 22 for permits: That is no permit without a business (insurances, etc. and all going with it) ?? Locally I've been harrassed in NY and outside, . For example Hudson River Park Manhattan, a State of New York property, commerical photos and tripods by permit. Inside by private security for Westfield Malls and Brookfield Place and one, outsude next to NY Commodities exchange. OH and once, in Manhattan by private security for the building (mayby Dbank) in which SONY PLAZA NY is located and I was taking a pic of their door! Thanks, and sorry if question got lost, what approach for photo enthusiast.? Small chance of a post for commerical use , perhaps in a 500px listing or such.
Indoors and on private property you need permission. For parks, commercial permits are if you are doing work for stuff like marketing, photo workshops and other such commercial work. I've taken many photos of doors, it's just a matter of where you are standing when you take it. Sidewalk, fine. On private property, might have an issue. NYC is all weird now with photographs because they think you're plotting to do some sort of attack. Anyway....you should probably look into local laws regarding photos.
An imperfect vlog on 'imperfection'. I enjoyed your philosophical views on imperfection noting we are all ourselves imperfect (even George Clooney, Angelina Jolie and Albert Einstein). I'm hoping to see you use the G9 more, as I have one. Do you use the back button for focus? Does the fast shutter action bother you? Looking forward to further European sojourns. Mike in Oz
What does everyone think the MOST common photo out there is? That would be interesting to actually know the answer. My guess would be Grand Canyon the Horseshoe Bend section.
Hello James, You will probaly not have time for answering this question, but maybe someone in your fine community can answer it as well. How do you get a picture of an alley, or down the middle of the street with clear sunlight at the end, without the sunlight to be way to over exposed, it always happens to me. Maybe someone know? Thanks for another great video.
Sorry, your videos are usually jam-packed with great tips and commentary, but there was too much filler in this one... Please edit/cut more. Thanks. Sincerely, a fan of your channel.
One of the most impactful reads on me this year was Tomas Navarro's Kintsugi. It has one of the truths that is lost from today's other self-improvment books: life is hard and we must accept that. He details how this must not derail us, however, from pursuing our goals and a better us and exposes (my favorite part) how to implement this philosophy of acception in our lives. It's such a great read and a jewel: amzn.to/2no5j2b
Am I the only one that's irritated when a video has very specific title and it's not talked about the first 10 min of the video? If u want to make a general lifestyle/travel video then give it a general lifestyle/travel title

1.Aim for perfect
2.Miss
3.Your shot's imperfect
4.Profit
Dear viewers. I am NOT a ghost! We were just proving a point here, OK???
lol I was looking for you!
was the Warp Stabilizer warning on 12:32 on purpose to show the imperfection point? (it's an actual question, happened to me loads of times =/ )
I'd personally say: "Aim for perfection, settle for the best you can do!"
Spot on in this one! That is exactly why I subscribed to your channel! Its all real, with awesome advice and a little humour sprinkled on top 😜
The music stopping and the scooter finishing the melody was priceless!! I had to stop the video, because I was laughing! hahaha! Wonderful! :) :) :)
Nice video as always 🙂

Mr James..As always terrific stuff....(My God what a beautiful place), interesting, entertaining, informative and helpful. Keep them coming.

2.01. What a lovely picture.
Love the editing, as usual. Makes your videos not only useful and interesting, but also very funny and entertaining. :)
Thanks so much Bart! :)
How is your camera strapped to your rucksack? Looks interesting! Thanks - Chris
I agree about imperfections. Nobody likes retouched portraits, and people quickly tire of those HDR saturated landscapes.
I am highly impressed with my own Google Pixel 2 (regular size) and its camera. Outstanding for street photography. It does force me to move around more than I would with a zoom.
I’m at 4 mins and disappointed at the lack of sheep thus far 😒
I know, he is forgetting his roots clearly.
Loving the warp stabilizer. Perfect video for this to occur
the jazzy music is awesome in this.
Best entertainment on UA-cam. Great contribution.

New to the channel. Loving your work and style.
Thanks so much Ben :)

Totally agree with this - but my videos and photos are chock full of imperfections, why aren’t I winning the internet? 😁
loved the vid ... you're imperfectly perfect :)
Check out Martin Parr's photo of people next to the leaning tower of Pisa. From years ago
Google Pixel 2 XL now only £550. Difficult to justify spending more.
I couldn't agree more on the theme or the Pixel 2 - such a brilliant phone camera and very capable.
How was the Wex event? I missed it as I was on holiday :(
I ALWAYS click them unless I have already seen the video linked
I think you were in Licciana Nardi? I've got a house just up the road. Crazy!
Beautiful place
Cool piece of paid work, well done you 👍🏻
Shooootttts. 7am. Need to get going. Late for work. Yikessss
That's a cool van.
U doing a fantastic work

I’ll unsubscribe if you start making perfect videos...it’s a compliment of course. Thanks for another fun video 👍🏻
I've been to Pisa and I don't have a photo like that.

James... another successful trip with loads of entertainment😜😂😂😂
What's the permit you need to take photos on a particular road? How common is this in Europe?
Don't buy a caravan/RV, the maintenance is horrible. Fly someplace and rent one for the week. One thing I would consider is a small camper van like the old VW Vanagon. Easier to drive, use less fuel, can park anywhere....
The overexposed Andrew at the end of the video looked like Casper. Sorry Andrew 😂😂
No worries Muhamad - I was thinking the same!
half a sock makes a nice shock cushion for a lens in a cup holder. hot tip there.
PS. Use a freshly laundered sock.

Oh, beautiful Italy. I really miss her...
I watch for, well, you know.🐑
Hi man love your videos. Is it possible you can put the camera settings like shutter speed and iso under the picture.
I just love your videos!

By imperfection, you mean like patching one hole out of 6 ???? x-) And did you miss your flight??
without all those people propping it up, there's no telling how much farther over it would be leaning. "Many hands make light work"...
What does everyone think the MOST common photo out there is? That would be interesting to actually know the answer. My guess would be Grand Canyon the Horseshoe Bend section.

I would imagine bracketed shots combined in processing.
Great video, music too loud though.
Yes, kept turning the volume up and down.
Maxi-Bon's are the best. Oh, and nice vid and all that... :-D
Quite the dry sense of humour mate, comes across reel well. Get it? Also the leaning photo clip is hilarious.
..... always try to be perfect
Crackin vid mate :-)
Pixel 3 is out; review?
Been to Pisa and confess to the pointy, holdy up poses ,damn i feel bad now
Those dogs were not happy at all 😂😂😂
What are future destinations?
how is your camera attached
Did just eat a croissant?? Now i want one.
Do you use a 12mm or a 7mm to vlog?
Love my Pixel2 XL Panda, the camera is brilliant. Just promise me you will never use that ghastly portrait processing feature winks ;-)
Sorry, your videos are usually jam-packed with great tips and commentary, but there was too much filler in this one... Please edit/cut more. Thanks. Sincerely, a fan of your channel.
16:31 Does Andrew hate He-Man?
Isn’t “Vino” wine??

Where's the sheep?
They were all holding up the tower lol

Pisa is nice but Florence is better.
your music is to loud
