Dude, great work as always. I'd like to suggest reacting to "This is war" by Falconshield. League of Legends bars, bro 👌
Knox, please the next ERB react to be Joan of Arc vs Miley Cyrus.
Pls react to rustages L rap
Who is Skrillex?
Hey man, I appreciate the effort you put in your videos!! I'm sure you'll love Eminem's Heat - I honestly can't wait for the moment I see it on your channel. Have a good day! :)
Fun fact: the ERB crew performed this song live back in the day and the real Skrillex showed up on stage.
and even back in the day when real Mozar showed up on stage
@@larescompitales4736 yeah when he brought his whole orchestra crew with him that stuff was wild
I was actually going to mention that it was done live, with the real Skrillex making an appearance, but you beat me to it, lol
ua-cam.com/video/ClNCl6yDIm0/v-deo.html
did he actually perform his part or was he just there?
“I’ve transcribed it here” - Mozart was known for hearing a piece once and able to transcribe the entire work.
Also what comes after 68 (measure of diorriha) is 69...lol
@@parham1023 how have I've never noticed that?
@@parham1023 nice
Yup
Famous example is "Miserere Mei, Deus", the transcription having been kept secret by the Vatican for years, and little Mozart shows up, hears it twice, transcribes it from memory and produces the first illicit copy, making this event the earliest record of music piracy.
For the "no one even knows you" line from Skrillex, I always took it as people typically only know Mozart's for his music and not who he was as a person, I know in schools (at least the ones I went to) we were only taught about his music, I only learnt all the other stuff about him later on in life. Where as Skrillex is modern age and with social media and the internet people know a lot about celebrities lifestyles and scandals.
Damn, I never really thought of it like that. After you explained it, that diss actually makes sense and is pretty acurate
Never heard of skrillex on social media lol
@@TheAlphatitan this erb is 8 years old, and I'm guessing they're referring to the fact that Skrillex released his first album as Skrillex on Myspace.
that's a pretty good point, initially I took it as them saying when compared to other classical composers he is arguably forgettable. for the most part i only really know the fictitious aspects of that one Antonio Salieri rumour regarding him and Mozart.
i don't think so. I think he meant in his time. It''s a well known misconception that he became famous only after his death (which is not true) and he was mostly a court composer so most of the regular people were not really aware of his work; Furthermore there were wars all over at this time and it doesn't help the spread of culture. Most of his fame came from word of mouth from the court reaching other courts and wealthy people. Compared to the billions who knows skrillex it's indeed "no one"
And of course, Mozart demonstrates that he does actually knows of modern music as well: He is a prodigy referencing Prodigy (‘Smack My Bitch Up’).
*know
Stupid autocorrect.
One of the most under-appreciated lines in ERB
I was wondering if anyone was going to point that out
I didn’t realize that until now
I have no idea how Knox missed that. That's one of their most famous songs and that line "smack my bitch up" is basically ingrained into pop culture at this point.
This german can confirm, it was the Falco song. btw: "Smack my bitch up" is a song of the british band "The Prodigy".
I hope that german also knows that Falco was not a german
@@j4rm41n3 Correct he was Austrian and from Vienna I believe.
@@j4rm41n3 Of course he was from Austria. But he definitivly was big in the german speaking countries.
@@xJericho82 And the Netherlands ;) Rock me Amadeus was written and produced by Bolland & Bolland (who were Dutch but born in South Africa)
I still listen to Falco. Amadeus was good and the video is so weird.
And I was hoping Knox would mention Prodigy. I used to listen to them, Firestarter was the first one of their songs I heard.
I really thought Skrillex was just a nerd that knew how to press the right keys on his computer, but i've seen some videos of him playing a lot of instruments and also his livestreams producing in 2020 and wow, the guy is actually talented as fck. But in this battle he gets BODIED by Mozart, no discussion
I was one of those emokids who hated him making dubstep and quitting From First To Last. He was always talented af, most people just had no idea where he came from before Skrillex as a project.
Ain't no shame in being a king beaten by a god, right?
Oh he's talented for sure! I remember the "making of" video of that song he did with The Doors. The band at first seemingly didn't like the concept of the song at all, but he managed to adapt remarkably well to their style in the end. Shows that he's a great musician that can work with all kinds of styles.
I mean, lets also not forget that good music production is hard; people don't just "press a couple of right keys on their computer" and make dubstep, or any genre of music
He was in from first to last and it was great
Chernobyl was actually in Ukraine when it was part of the Soviet Union. The HBO show is also fantastic
russian has captured chernobyl now
@@kyriel8 it sure has
My favorite part of the soft to very very loud line is that literally what he does on that line. Like "not only am i dumbing this down but im giving you an example."
Lol yeah
No love for the "Prodigy/ Smack my bitch up" bar?
That's cold, man.
I keed! ^_^
Great breakdown and analysis of both the bars and the music, as usual.
Was gonna come in here for this too...
Most people miss that one. I guess they weren’t that huge outside of Europe.
They may not be huge but that song in particular was very big when it came out. I too was disappointed he missed that bar.
most people seem to miss that one
Haha I was looking for a comment about this =D
Just imagine what Mosart could do with the music tools and instruments we have today.
Skillex used to rock hard as hell when he was in From First to Last. Surprisingly they didn't bring up his old band from the early 2000s.
That was referenced somewhat in the “I’m a r-r-rock star” line.
Was he any good
Don't care what anyone says, Equinox and Bangarang are great tracks.
Fun fact about Skrillex, he started his professional music career as the singer of the scream-o band From First to Last.
The only one I know is when he does a song with Damien Marley. I really like that one. I usually don't think about it but when I remember I put it on. Great video with the rain dance at the end 😊
Often wonder what the genius composers and musicians of the past would have done with the tech we have today. They were all groundbreaking in their day.
They probably would have been locked away or cancelled. So... nothing really.
They probably wouldn't be as good. Modern artists don't get enough credit. Classical composers were good at writing classical music, modern artists are good at writing modern songs. I doubt Eminem could write Appassionata, and I doubt Beethoven could write Rock Bottom.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but I'd say Skrillex's line of "I Attack, you Decay" would count as a double because yes it's the music theory stuff, but I think it could also be him saying something like "I'm still alive and going strong and everything while you're just there rotting in the ground". Also when Skrillex says "I'm a rockstar" is also accurate, as before doing Dubstep he was the lead vocalist of a Hardcore/Screamo band named From First to Last.
It’s actually not just music theory either. The line is actually more about techniques in producing music. Yes, attack, decay, sustain, and release are used to quantify the playing of a note (like how sudden it stops, how long it goes, etc) but these are also used for sound design. Synthesizers actually let’s you fully control those parameters with knobs and what not. He’s essentially talking about *making* his own sounds immediately after Mozart says he only hits a space bar while also relating those terms like you said. He also mention “sidechain” which is making a sound duck in volume sharply for another element to be heard over it. That’s usually for drums to be heard in a mix and it’s more of a filler bar I think unless he means Mozart’s disses aren’t hitting or he’s “ducking” them.
@@michaelbell4930 thank you for the explanation. I was aware that it wasn't exactly what I said, but I was unable to come up with a better term to describe it, which is why I said music theory. Thank you again.
Just go read the wikia. Not wikipedia
@@unlimited971 sorry, I'm a bit confused as to why you commented that as you didn't really provide any context for it and it doesn't really seem to fit in with what comments are visible unless it was in response to a comment that has since been deleted.
@@lordofninjas1 there is explanstion of lyrics in a wikia
you know so much about history bruh. im always blown away with how detailed and in-depth your knowledge is
Oh you should have watched the live version of this song. I mean it's definitely still worth the rewatch for the "twist"
You see the twist in the thumbnail. It's really not a big deal.
I second this comment.
@@fernandobanda5734 hence why I put twist in quotations. It's their choice of words not mine.
Yeah, he really should have watched that version.
Re: Blown out speaker.
He produced Cinema (the remix of the Benny Benassi song) on a blown out speaker. That song later won him a Grammy.
“No one even knows you” I take as people know Skrillex more on a personal level than Mozart. I don’t think they mean Mozart is forgotten to time, cause he’s not obviously.
Exactly. That’s how I’ve always taken that line. People know Mozart’s music, but I’d say the vast majority of people probably know next to nothing about him beyond that. Like Knox mentioned, he was a really weird guy.
Next do Dr. Seuss vs Shakespeare!!! It's a classic banger
Not really, it's one of the most one sided ERBs that exist.
I think he should react to the recent and better battles next before he moves onto more old erbs
@@ItsNikolai One sided doesn't even BEGIN to describe how that one goes. The Cat In The Hat and Things 1 and 2 just DESTROY Shakespeare.
@@Thechaosmaster1997 yeah, shakespeare really just got played.
I love how Peter actually goes From P < F in his bars on that part. Mozart killed it
I believe the "uh uh uh amadeus" is also a reference to Rock Me Amadeus
One must love this reference to Falco. He's still underappreciated
'Skrillex' saying "Nobody even knows you" is equivocal to career suicide. The art of shooting oneself in the foot for being so, so wrong, that nobody can respect you for such a wrong claim.
Yeah, I thought Skrillex was doing good till that point, then it's just "what the heck are you talking about?"
People like to say oh he meant like actually know him personally, or recognize his music, yada yada.
Completely irrelevant, unless you're one of the very few people who's actually never heard of Mozart, that line kills the whole verse the first time you hear it.
@@jakeand9020Exactly. I can’t even remember the last time I listened to dubstep in general cuz I have been listening to classical so much lately. Even downloaded that new Apple Classical Music app
@@jakeand9020 and he reeks of dead mouse
Know one knew Mozart personally while Skrillex has worked with multiple artists
Still surprised so many people miss the Prodigy line. One of the best songs in their catalog and one of the best electro songs in the last three decades
knox hill sound design/producing short tips sounds like a great video idea to me, hoping for that sidechain talk :)
First time I've been this early to any video on UA-cam ever!!! Love your music and your breakdowns, keep up the great work my guy!
Please do Fabvl sayian Cypher
I am so glad that you finally reacted to this! Thank you very much :D
You know... as this battle has music as it's main lyrical topic, I thought that you would watch this much sooner but I am really glad that you didn't "forget" about it :)
Oh my god. I've listened to this ERB so many times and I've only just got the 'I'm a prodigy Sonny and I'm about to smack a bitch up' line. The Prodigy, a hugely influential EDM group, had a song called 'Smack My Bitch Up'. Considering they originated not even 20km from where I'm from I'm ashamed that it's taken me so long to get that line.
Skrillex "I attack, you decay" line also refers to Mozart being dead as he has far been decayed lol
Interesting I learned a few new things by watching this video that I didn’t catch watching this on my own. Thnx as always for catching things.
Thanks as always for supporting and for giving this channel a chance
This man is carrying reaction channels rn
As has been previously mentioned, there was a live version of this. That would be really cool if you reacted to that one. 😁
while motzart explaining the "piano to fortississimo" bar he is looking into the camera and is dissing the audience for not knowing these things.
Hey Knox, nice to see you again
Ay Knox, good too see ya
“I’m a prodigy, Sonny, and I’m about to smack a bitch up” refers to the song Smack My Bitch Up by The Prodigy
Skrillex actually still produces for a lot of pop artists
Oh dang here it is! Please do the Einstein one next. Crazy flows on that one
Awesome video bro
Nice! One of my favorites!
I'm a "prodigy" sonny
and I'm about to "smack a bitch up"
The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up
Love your T-shirt
You’re the first person reacting to this ERB on UA-cam that I’ve seen actually get the attack decay sustain release bars
I love when classical and techno are combined. Saints Row does that too and it's glorious.
So do I! I’ve always enjoyed classical music and I’ve been a fan of EDM since the late 90’s so when I heard the music in Saints Row I was really excited! It’s such a fun combination!
Austrian here, appreciate your extensive knowledge about Mozart! Falco proves very good memory. ;)
So awesome
My man Knox knowing and bringing up Falco was very unexpected but appreciated
I cannot believe Knox missed the The Prodigy line. He got the obscure joke with Skrillex's real name but missed the obvious Smack My Bitch Up line? 😂
Thank you for your bars breaks. I always listen to your chanel to practise my English. I apologize, but Chernobyl catastrophe took place in USSR (1986), the territory of Pripyat near Kyiv (Ukraine nowadays). Best wishes from Odessa (Ukraine).
agreed, this is one of my favorite beats in an ERB
The ADSR bar got me. I have done sound programming for the SID chip :-)
i have been asking in comments for such a long time :)
Missed (or didn't mention) that after the 68th measure of diarrhea is *69th* measure.
Also, Mozart played before the king when he was five.
I love this battle and I’ve been a fan of Sonny since before the Skrillex project was even a thing, and I’ve also really enjoyed classical music since I was a little kid thanks to my dad, so this was a good pairing in my opinion. I like the idea of pitting old classical music like Mozart’s against the modern music of Skrillex.
On your own time you should check out the behind the scenes or making of “Break’n a Sweat” with the surviving members of The Doors. It’s pretty neat to see a band like The Doors collaborating with someone who makes electronic music like Skrillex and to have them work out a song together.
Brilliant breakdowns. That is all. 👍
Skrillex is still very active as a producer and songwriter, Usually working with Justin Bieber, TY Dolla Sign and Ed Sheeran along with running his own music label OWSLA with artists like Marshmello, Porter Robinson and Zedd among others with releases on the label
The fact that not a lot of people know this though is a testament to Mozart’s point
thanks a lot!
I'll never forget man I was in a nightclub in Jacksonville and there was an MC spinning and he spawned March of the valkyrie with Nine Inch Nails White Zombie any Cannibal Corpse it was the most amazing thing that I've ever heard in my entire life
For the "piano to fortississimo" part could also be a dig at Skrillex's music (and I guess EDM in general now that I think about it) where it's really only got a somewhat quiet section and then the main drop where the volume is essentially blaring.
Bro sick shirt! I want that one bro!
I love that you knew Falco! Best. Reactor. Ever!
Compression is the most popular thing to be known to have sidechained, but that's not the only one :p I really liked all the music/ production lines
With how much Knox says it, I’m pretty sure everything is in the back of the mix by now
We live at the back of the mix
From ERB is the battle between the two different types of musicians featuring a Techno DJ and a Pianist Prodigy
Prodigy had an album called Fat of the Land and one of the songs was smack my b*tch up. Which was used in Charlie Angels……the bad one. Awesome video!
Dubstep hasn't gone tho, it's still one of the most popular genres of EDM
The I "rocked harder than you when I was 5 years old" is probably referring to his father falsely marketing him as 5 year old when he was older to make him seem more impressive
Knox you a busy man like me bro! Great job! Still want you on my show as my bday is coming up. Can we plan a live stream?
Last line seal it. Mozart was performing for royalty at 5 years old. And Skrillex has his 15m of fame.
The prodigy line was 'Smack My Bitch up" by the band Prodigy
8:18 House is also another genre of music so that's probably a double too
You're just now seeing these? I remember when these were all brand new. OMG I feel fvkin ANCIENT
Knox is that you singing the chorus to your song? Okayyyyy lol
One of my favorites, TGIF
If you liked the production, there's a song on the American Gods soundtrack called BarouqeTech. You should listen to it it starts of half string and then the last half is all electronic. You don't have to react to it its just good
"No one even knows you" is meant as a rebuttal for "No one knows what you are"
Love your reactions ! you should do it to chuck noris and abe lincon, my favourite
@7:26 Don't miss the the reference to the iconic 90s electronica song "Smack My Bitch Up" by "Prodigy"
Okay wait… you catch the Dead Mouse line but let the Prodigy and “Smack my Bitch Up” line go?
Reaction channels be like
Somebody: breathes
Guy: SO AS YOU CAN SEE HE BREATHES!
this guy ain’t an exception.
i know how to press a spacebar too ! hahaha, that was great 😂
Wow I just realized that I forgot that Skrillex exists - and how fast time flew by :'D
Only shows how much Mozart won this battle ^^ His music still gets played today
@@glennjanot8128 I don't think Mozart will ever be forgotten, even kids learn to know his huge talent and even if they don't listen to it, it won't be forgotten, his skills'll always be appreciated. When I was a teenager I didn't like his music, but I was fascinated of his skills, his story also motivated me. I'd tell his story my kids, if I had, even though I don't listen often to his music. I don't think there is another artist able to do that. the only one I'd say the same thing about would be Freddy Mercury, but I listen often to queen 😂 It's impossible to forget Mozart, that's almost like forgetting to eat 😂
@@Gurkenpower While there are a lot of classical composers whose music is still listened to today, what I found the most amazing thing about Mozart's music is how it touched our emotions. And Mozart got better as he got older.
I always wonder what kind of masterpieces he would have produced had he lived into his 70s
I'm hella late but the "prodigy" bar is also a shout-out to late '90s rock band Prodigy, one of whose best-known songs happens to called "Smack My B*tch Up." I don't think I need to elaborate more on what Mozart's saying in that bar; it's just another layer within the larger can of whoop-ass he unloaded at the beginning of his verse.
As an aside... dang, the things you learn about historical figures. I never knew Mozart had that kind of affinity for excrement. 😲
I came back to rewatch this and see if I missed anything and I have to mention the dubstep is still a thing. Just check out the music on NCS.
There is a whole Playlist of songs with the dubstep effect in them.
Plus Q Bass could also played as "cue bass" as the bass comes on the screen.
From ERB is the battle between a Techno DJ and a Pianist Prodigy
I've tried looking for a similar style of music that's Mozart's background (basically classical music interwoven with electronic) but so far no luck. The closest were "The piano guys".
Check the music from the Saints Row video games. They’ve done some blending of classical and EDM stuff that’s pretty interesting.
Are we gonna just skip over the part where you missed the ‘prodigy’ double? Mozart calls him sonny then refers to himself as a ‘Prodigy’ then says ‘I’m about to smack a bitch up’ Prodigy (British EDM band) had a song in the 90s ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ (1997)
You go Piano, to *FORTISSISSIMO!*
(Which for those who don't have a clue what it means, it's soft to very very loud, because I bet not many people know it)
That cousin bar was good for Skrillex, but that relevancy bar, especially in hindsight, hits so much harder.
I have been waiting for this one. Beethoven vs Justin Biever or
Miley Cyrus vs Jean of Arc next please 🙏🏻
You missed Mozart's first couple bars where he calls himself a "prodigy" where Prodigy is an early EDM group.
How do you know all of this stuff about the characters on erb?
I’m worried are you reading my mind I was just thinking about you reacting to this for like 2 days now
ERB also did a Live version of this song and had Skrillex actually make a cameo and he sang part of the rap.
Skrillex may not release a lot of music in his own name but he is actually producing a lot of the big popstars albums such as Justin Bieber and more. So more in the background than before, he also made a colab a couple years ago with Diplo, which were fire too. Nice breakdown though Knox ! 🤘
I feel an Ikea Diss Track coming from Knox in the future
I think the "no one knows who you are" line is connected to the phone line before. Nokia 3310 had Mozart's symphony no 40 as a ringtone, and a lot of people back then, especially kids didn't know it was Mozart even if they used it. So Mozart's name is famous, yet far from everyone can identify his music. That's how I have always thought of it at least.
shoulda watched the live version on this
NOTI GANG 🔥🔥
