When I was making the wedding signs on very large antique mirrors for my daughter's wedding, Smart gold and black glitter vinyl worked the best. We tried several different products but the Smart vinyl really gave us the most professional look. I am making mirrors for a friend's wedding this fall and that was her choice as well.

I just join my long mats and do what I need to do. I’m not going to keep on buying vinyl if I already have it.

I agree, Smart materials cut so beautifully. I always try to find them on sale but I do buy them for certain things.

Never thought of using wash tape for paper letters, great tip!!! Agree, on the smart products, I only buy them if they're on sale.

For fonts you can also use adhesive vinyl on paper. Either permanent or removable.

Stylus never works for me. It just doesn't make a mark at all, so I usually just do scoring by hand with a ruler.

The Smart Vinyl, while a little more expensive, allows you to cut without having to use a mat. It’s pretty convenient.

I use regular vinyl instead of htv for small letters. No need to pull out a heat press when vinyl works the same. Washi or scotch tape works to transfer it to your project.

True, but I also feel like HTV weeds easier especially for those intricate cuts.

LOL I PRINT ON MY HALF USED STICKER PAPER

  • @lisachurch4967

That sheet of sticker paper wasn't waisted. Cut it off at the bottom of the black box and use the rest of the sheet.
My Maker is closed and covered when not in use. I'm not leaving the stylus in clamp A if I'm not using it. It doesn't take but a few seconds to swap tools when needed, not a big deal.

I just use it back in my printer...no problems

    • @taunks287
      @taunks287 Місяць тому

The only thing is that some printers know when it's not a full sheet of paper, but you can tape a piece of paper on the back of it to fool the printer. Or, if you cut out your sticker without the back of the sheet it stays full size anyway. So yeah, you don't have to print a full sheet of things you may or may not want later to avoid wasting sticker paper. If I knew I wanted more stickers I'd be printing them all from the beginning.

I like the Smart Vinyl much better than the regular cricut vinyl. The Smart Vinyl is stiffer than regular vinyl. I also like it because it saves up on having to use my mat as much. The prices are about the same.

Why use htv on paper when you can just use vinyl?

  • @susanjohns8902

I wish when using the scoring stylus, it would not make me change the tool setting each time I change mats. I would think that remembering the settings would also remember the tool.

I personally don't like smart vinyl but I have purchased it at Walmart because it was on sale and significantly cheaper than purchasing the same amount of regular Cricut vinyl .... ( because of who I was selling it too and due to what they were using it for I wanted to keep the profit margin small)

What are the dimensions of print and cut for the 8 1/2 x 11 sticker paper? There should be a template like the have for shirts in design space.

I don’t agree with using htv instead of paper. I mainly papercraft on my Cricut Explore. When I want to use an intricate font, I offset it and use a pen to write it. I don’t see the logic of using more expensive vinyl versus just using a pen

I love to use the scoring stylus pic. I wish you could make it the default so you didn’t have to choose it every time and I only buy smart material when it’s on clearance or half price. The only reason I like it at all is it is faster on my maker 3.
