    Can someone please explain this to me?
    Are they saying that this particular invention doesn't need to be charged via plug?
    Are they saying that you solar panels will never have to be charged or?
    Help, lost.
    Thanks!

    • @lau4893
      @lau4893 7 років тому +1

      Rastafy solar panels don't need to be charged (they're not batteries) they transform electromagnetic particles/waves (light) into electric potential (electricity)

    • @qaz1qaz1qa
      @qaz1qaz1qa 7 років тому

      Yes what Laurent was saying. Solar panels use light to make electricity that CAN BE STORED in batteries (in example @ 2:58 we have a cellphone battery being charged via lamp). As research increases the efficiency and safety of solar cells AND batteries (think the past 100+ years of Gasoline advancements put into electric instead) we will see some very interesting things I am sure.

    Where does this technology stand today?

  • @MrHatemyname
    @MrHatemyname 7 років тому +10

    Yes, it's low-cost, bendable, efficient and ultra thin. It is also highly DEGRADABLE, which means it efficiency decreases significantly over time. The cell powering the smartphone would become unusable in weeks. They should be honest and say it out loud. Traditional silicon solar cells on the other hand degrade over 50 years of time. This is the main challange for this technology to even become usable. The production process is no longer a problem, there are a few institutions worldwide that apply the mentioned production scheme. However, no one has come up yet with the solution to quick degradation. To me, the lady here is just a good PR product - young, beautiful and intelligent woman who trasferred her scientific knowledge to business. It's catchy.

    Oh dear, oh dear. She even made Forbes cover. Just like Elizabeth Holmes. Is the efficiency higher than silicon cells? Nope. Is it her or Polish invention. Google it. NOPE. Is service life longer than silicon cells? Nope! does is solve ANY of the problems with so called 'renewables'? NOPE! How about capacity factor, grid stability, storage? Nice to see woman doing actual science other than gender studies and perhaps even making something marketdly better (even if "only" in manufacturing).

    • @Ruunawayboy
      @Ruunawayboy 2 роки тому

      But they are cheap and can be printed on flexible surfaces or on glass, they are transparent and the efficiency is already equal to the silicon one.
      At $ / Watt of power, they can be unrivaled in relation to the silicon ones.
      They work in the range of visible and invisible light, which is a better result than silicon panels.
      Japan has already ordered the entire factory from Olga and they want to support its invention and produce it in Japan.
      Can you imagine buying a 100m x 1m roll of perovskite panels as heavy as paper for 1/10 the price of silicon cells?
      that's what it's all about

    Perovskite research it makes sense, because this material is still unstable, toxic and has a short life time. But the idea to produce electricity using artificial light and charging the smartphone via lamp on the desk is very, very inefficient, or will be simply contrary to the ecology. Simplifying - typical lamp can’t charge the phone… Please let’s discuss about technical parameters, discuss about energy balance.

      Unfortunately, the problem relates specifically to solar charger on smartphone. Already a year ago, Saule company announced a huge success that built such charger on perovskites (information about this episode is also attached to video). Despite of many questions of Internet users, Saule did not disclose what the electrical parameters have their solar charger. During many demonstrations of prototype in dozens of interviews, Saule announced the end of an era of old, classic chargers for smartphones. Saule adds that will create a perovskite charger that will charge smartphones even using reflected light. In my opinion (after research) this is nonsense... But it's very important if Saule says only about its unattainable in reality dreams, or consciously lying, because they are seeking additional grants. I believe we must firmly based only on scientific facts and not just talk about dreams… Perowskite probably is OK, but if anyone of you has done the energy balance of the promised solutions ? Mechanical analysis ? Chemical analysis and impact this technology on the environment ? Nobody asks a basic questions...

    • @HenrykGasperowicz
      @HenrykGasperowicz 7 років тому +2

      let's start from the beginning:
      -lamp power -60W,
      -distance from lamp to the table -25cm,
      -the phone surface (solar cells) -50cm2
      -efficiency of solar cells -10%
      Calculate how much energy you can get in these conditions via solar cell. Compare those obtained results the energy consumed by smartphone (even when not using it). Prepare conclusions and share with us to discuss. Science is better than magic…
      I am an expert of analogue electronics and I have 35 years of professional experience. I can prepare a report for the institution seriously interested in this topic.

      All commercial materials-videos from SAULE show that, using a lamp and a perovskite solar cell of phone size we will be able to charge the phone. Moreover, SAULE assured us that in the future perovskite technology will be able to charge the phones even by scattered light in the room. Most people (not technical) are misled because it's not true. People need to know the true parameters of perovskite solar charger for smartphones - the first “success” of the SAULE Company! ! If not, then we are dealing with deliberate
      fraud.
      Appendix to deren's speech:
      Silicon photovoltaic cells use light between 300nm and 1150nm to make electrical energy.
      Perovskite photovoltaic cells use light between 300nm and 800nm to make electrical energy. Which of them work on wider wavelength in your opinion, silicon or perovskite?
      30% efficiency of perovskite pv it’s only theoretical value. In this case 100% of the light energy will be transformed into electricity. How it will affect to the transparency and colour of the perovskite foil in your opinion? It will be transparent foil or dark like black hole? SAULE promises us any colour of perovskite foil and transparency 30…70%. If we consider this data, perovskite foil from SAULE will get 10…20% efficiency max. Then you should take into account the losses on contracts (10%) and losses on the
      transmission and processing of the energy. In my opinion the final product based on perovskites will reach ~ 10% efficiency max. Last question: salts of lead are used in perovskite technology by SAULE, there are safe or toxic for human? I'm afraid that chemical instability of the perowskite due to moisture, could be very dangerous for environment.
