Actually, I queued the "Midnight Lament" right after "Lullaby for a Princess" in my personal playlist - because as gorgeous as the latter song is, it absolutely must be followed by more happy one, about Celestia and Luna finally making amends.
Of all fandom's songs, this one is a marvel. It facilitates the most important point of the entire show: The importance of dear people above everything else. Imagine if all of us could be as sincere with our friends and family. Judging by the state of things, people would do good to learn from the "childish cartoons." They often ask: "What is there to see, anyway?" This one thing over here.

Hello to Aurelleah, I wanted to comment on this song. I just never had the time. This song I must say is in my opinion your best song. People will disagree, but I feel that this song and "On wings of monnlight" go well together with the story of the two sisters. Midnight Lament really connects with the regret Celestia has. I know this song has been on here for a few years already, but I am new to the scene of mlp and the fandom.

I was told this was amazing when it first premiered. I put it on my Watch Later and never actually watched it. Well, I played it now that I'm doing a mindless task and catching up on my Watch Laters. I think the overall quality of the song might have been overstated a bit, but it is still extremely well done. These singers have amazing talent! It actually took this song to make me realize, too, the plothole of why Celestia did not or could not remove the nightmare curse in the first place. The possibility that Celestia acted rashly and did not consider external corruption suggests a much deeper sorrow within her. It suggests that not only is she saddened at losing her sister for a millennium, but that she could have saved her so long ago. My perspective of their relationship has changed drastically because of this song. That probably has more to do with me than the song itself, but it still made an impact.
I wrote this song with metaphorical lyrics, the lyrics are designed to be able to be applied to other situations besides just the original story; for me it was a metaphor for forgiving myself, struggling with self-condemnation/depression for the longest time, being able to soar above in the world of happiness again. I tied parts of the original story in with this to help cement the lyrics though for sure :>

I was told this was amazing when it first premiered. I put it on my Watch Later and never actually watched it. Well, I played it now that I'm doing a mindless task and catching up on my Watch Laters. I think the overall quality of the song might have been overstated a bit, but it is still extremely well done. These singers have amazing talent! It actually took this song to make me realize, too, the plothole of why Celestia did not or could not remove the nightmare curse in the first place. The possibility that Celestia acted rashly and did not consider external corruption suggests a much deeper sorrow within her. It suggests that not only is she saddened at losing her sister for a millennium, but that she could have saved her so long ago.
My perspective of their relationship has changed drastically because of this song. That probably has more to do with me than the song itself, but it still made an impact.
I wrote this song with metaphorical lyrics, the lyrics are designed to be able to be applied to other situations besides just the original story; for me it was a metaphor for forgiving myself, struggling with self-condemnation/depression for the longest time, being able to soar above in the world of happiness again. I tied parts of the original story in with this to help cement the lyrics though for sure :>
