Nosara has emerged as a sought-after destination for health, wellness, and surfing enthusiasts from all corners of the globe. Recognizing the desires and expectations of their guests, the owners of Hotel Nalu-Nosara, Nomel and Mariya Libid, envisioned a design that would reflect the mindset of their visitors. The yoga studio, which has gained immense popularity as a multipurpose gym space, is enveloped by dense vegetation, creating an enchanting jungle retreat for exercise and relaxation.
Rather than traditional hotel rooms, guests at Hotel Nalu-Nosara are treated to individual pavilion "homes" situated just a few minutes' walk from the ocean. By dispersing the living spaces amidst the trees, the architects successfully broke down the monolithic mass of the hotel, providing a sense of privacy and an immersive experience within the natural surroundings. Meticulous research into wind and sun patterns guided the precise placement of each pavilion, ensuring that every unit enjoys its own unique view of the landscape. The pavilions feature overlapping timber roofs, meticulously crafted from recycled Teak planks, which extend outward to provide shade from the intense equatorial sun. These roofs boast uneven patterns, emphasizing the juxtaposition between local craftsmanship and modern design. Corridors connect the rooms, allowing dappled sunlight to filter down from the pergola roofs above, while simultaneously framing stunning views of the lush surroundings.
