Kids Off-Grid... Turn to Mush

- What happens to kids off-grid? In our experience the they turn to mush....ing!
That's right, all the "meanwhile, in Canada" memes are true. Silas has been working with his team towards the Caledonia Classic Dog Sled Race in 2022.
You can check out our website here: www.gridlessne...
and IG: / gridlessness
So be warned, if you move off-grid with your family, you too could see your kids spiral out of control, and eventually turn to mush......ers.
Think you and me are the only sane ones around here?? Me too, tell us how you really feel, leave a comment, subscribe, and join the adventure!
If you’d like to support Silas, here is a link to his go fund me page! gf.me/u/zny6vy
thank you
I would support, however not on an unsecured and open internet page.
@@js-mv7ly yes.. i did put money on this account and someone went into my bank account and tried to get 4 transactions ,i had to call the bank and hot card my account .
@@bunnygaffney2765 This was from GoFund Me?
@@ShoshannaGodber yes
Is it just me or does off-grid living produce more creative, focused and dedicated children. Nice to see Dave's family! You guys sure do a great job with your kids!
It’s amazing the creativity that can emerge when you have to make your own entertainment.
Home-schooling.
@@delavan9141 I have no doubt. My GKs are being home-schooled as well and I see the same things in them.
Its due to Parents raising children not schools raising children.
Like Rose said: I can send the kids to school on a bus and I won't see them for 9 hours, the we have 3 hours together and they go to bed.
Homeschooling the takes 2-3 hours and they can do what they want for the rest of the day.
Win-win!
I am a 230 pound construction worker and I teared up when he hugged his mom so much joy this is the best Chanel on UA-cam
What are you saying your weight?
@@jamesreeves4600 what's your problem dude its a way of saying that it touched my heart I'm a big guy and not fat and not the type to tear up over a video it was ment as a compliment
This is the original 4 wheeler. It takes guts, maturity and foresight to turn out as good as this kid. Good job mom and dad. He has earned his respect by others.
I just love these two families.
Jeff: "Powerful and dangerous. I've been called that before."
Silas: "Not by me."
Such a Dave comeback!
Great video...I teared up at the end. Good luck in the big race, Silas!
Being from north queenland Australia where its midnight and currently 27 degrees ☀️ this looks like great fun. Set something up so we can contribute and really get you set up to race , because its gonna cost...and I'm sure there are plenty here that would love to help , that's what it's all about 👍
Just love the interaction of the dogs before they take off to go on a run. This is fantastically entertaining. Thanks for posting this.
I knew this was Dave's son before I read the comments. The mannerisms are precisely the same as his dad. This 16 year old is very mature, by todays standards. I wish you luck in your dog sledding adventures.
i said the same thing in my head thats daves son for sure :)
That was great it's so great to see Family's close and together. That's a great way to bring children up. You could feel how greatful he was to get 2 more dog's. Good Luck 😃
God's Blessings on all your adventures
What a loveable young man! How could a person toss a few bucks his way????
Yes we would love to see some coverage of his adventure and some updates on how the training of the new members of the team are doing. I love that he built his own sled. I love the independence of the youngsters your growing over there!
the majority of todays 16 yo of the electronic age will never experience what this young man has already , and your children will be prepared to handle any challenges life throws at them , and i suspect they will have an off the charts sense of humor which is most important .keep the videos coming ,smiles are always enjoyed here in Nfld
Keep us informed if a Go Fund Me site gets set up. Lots of us would love to help him along on his life's path and we may miss out on giving him a hand up. Great video and a great surge of pride in Silas and his calm demeanor. Yup, you grow 'em fine up there in Canada!
Set up a pay pal or some other way to direct deposit. Leave out the go fund me middle man - who takes a cut...
@@SagebrushLongshots Good thinking! I wasn't aware of the dreaded middle man sticking his/her grubby fingers into the proceeds.
@@SagebrushLongshots That's a good idea. Too bad I didn't read your comment until after Silas set up a Go Fund Me page!
@@ShoshannaGodber Nothing says you can't do both.
He just wants to go fast Jeff! Not fiddle mush! 😆
Great fun listening to youth express their dreams and goals and always great to see animals and humans working together. Those dogs bred for pulling sleds are happiest pulling sled,. I am sure I saw smiles on their faces as they ripped by the camera. And I am sure the young man is never happier than when riding sled. Amazing what a good book can do.
Dear Rose and Jeff, thanks so much for all your videos. It’s really great getting to see such an outstanding family and all the great activities you and your young ladies take part in. It was also great to see Dave and his family as well. I wish all the best to all the younger set out there. And you, not so old folks too. Looking forward to seeing your garden this year. You have put much work into it over the past few years. Just getting ready for the gardening season here in Saskatchewan, but I’ll be doing it in the garage for now. We are supposed to get a blizzard tonight and tomorrow. Cheers from the Prairies eh. ❤️
Wonderful. I had sled dogs for 25 years....but no sled. It is wonderful to see his parents involved.
“Powerful and dangerous, I’ve been called the same”.
“Not by me!” Ha ha ha!
Classic put down!
Cracked me up 😂😂
Great story,, wonderful 16 year old,, good luck,, hope you place high.. Loved it...
Happy Birthday, Silas!! We are looking forward to your future adventures!!
you need to help him start up his own youtube channel, so he can get some sponsors for his team
He seems to enjoy mushing. I wish him good luck in his endeavors.
Very good video! Thanks for sharing! I was given the opportunity to go on a dog sled ride when I lived in North Pole, AK - It was a beautiful experience! What fun!
It is so cool to see a kid with a healthy passion. Love the sled. I think Blaze King needs to step up as a sponsor for the dog team Thanks for sharing.
This sounds like a movie in the making! Great video, good luck Silas with your dog team. Looking to more sledding videos.
Love your videos , I’m excited for Silas , you can tell this is a passion of his and something he gets excited about , I’m hoping you will share more of his story when he goes to the race ..... Keep up the great videos 😃👍
Happy Birthday young man! Excited for you and your future. It's great to have supportive family and friends. Nice job Jeff!
Such an amazing young man. Looking forward to seeing him race. Keep us posted. Blaze king wood stoves should sponsor Silas.
I love how varied the interests of your kids are. And because of that, everyone learns.
Jeff, you’re such a good interviewer! Is this Dave’s son? He sounds like Dave. LOL I see Dave now....so cool!
Great video , and great kid. Could tell he was Dave's son. I wish him all the best with his dog racing !!!!
Silas should consider starting a UA-cam channel focusing on dog sledding...what it takes to grow a team, build a sled, history of dog sledding, interviewing some of the elite sledders. The YT revenue from the channel could help fund the cost of his adventures until he can become self sustaining should he choose to make a career of it. And the snarky tall supporter at home could be a regular guest with added entertainment. 😉
That's a great idea.
This is a brilliant idea! We will subscribe stat!!
Happy Birthday, Silas, and congrats on the new dogs! Good luck!
I love all your videos but this was one of the coolest. Simple fun and touching.
It was great to see such a genuine and affectionate display of love and appreciation, at the birthday gift from his folks. He also seems to have inherited Dave's modest sense of humor. "I come in 2nd, when the dogs want to run."
Loved it.. my kids want to know what kind of dogs he has. Gotta be careful what books we let our crazy homeschool kids read!
Too true about the books! All of his sled dogs are Alaskan Huskies.
He had a dream, and now a goal. It is encouraging to see his family support him in what he enjoys doing. I am looking forward to a follow up video.
You are doing a very good job at raising your children. This is very impressive for a 16 year old. I hope he will become a son in law to you.
What a pro video: well-done, Gridless, and especially Silas!
A belated Happy Birthday, and I hope that you WIN that race, we are rooting for you!
Happy birthday Silas!
Go Silas! and Happy Birthday!
with his full 6 dogs, his light weight and young age, he's gonna fly by those other teams !!! good luck
So exited to see you all again. Love y'all
Saturday morning is Gridlessness morning! Thanks for a great vid!
That dog sled that Silas and Dave made is awesome! Perhaps that is leading down a possible career path!
Cant deny the wet eyes when he opened his card! Would love an update
Great video and good for Dave and his wife to help their son achieve his goals!!! Truly grateful to have watched this one! Thanks for sharing!
I have said it before and I will say it again. This family is filled with such interesting and talented people and then there is Jeff. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂we love Jeff also.
That was SO awesome!!!! Prayers for his success!!
Such an impressive young man! Great video as usual.
I hope we'll see regular updates of this most excellent adventure.
Amazing ! Young people with goals . . . a realistic plan . . . and the gumption to go do it!
Dang got some dust in my eye just then.
Great show jeff , good to hear from y’all
Awesome video as usual. How can we support this young man dream. Can you set up a go fund me page?
Very interesting video and good luck to Silas in his dog sledding. God bless
Ok, I’d love to see Silas participate in the sled race! I do hope there’s updates leading up to next years race... And congrats on getting 2 more dogs! How exciting!
Great video! True passion for what he's doing. I even teared up at the end😭
What a coolkid with cool dogs. You guys are definitely doing it right out there❤ good luck on your race I hope y'all can livesteam his WIN! (I'm speaking it into existence)
easy as pie to help support this inspiring young man. Hope lots of people help him start. Keeping dogs isnt cheap, also there will be entry fees, equipment, travel and incidentals none of which are cheap, Come on people invest in the future and the future of this kid! this was a great video ! Im thinking this determined young man might have a chance in the race at least to place or not he will finish
You guys are awesome I love what you do
Thoroughly enjoyed this video ! Do I possibly see some future videos featuring Silas and his team in training ?? and then definitely racing ??? Silas, Happy Birthday and many more ..... enjoy your future .,.,.,
What a great opportunity for a young man.
Nice family you have Dave.
I really liked this video. These are good people.
Good content, Jeff! I know the work that goes into these video & appreciate the effort & storytelling.
nice lovely video ... kinda like a prequel to 'the call of the wild '
Awe. So sweet!
This is awesome!!! Go get um!!!!
When the boys grow up it will be like having three DAVES ! They even sound like Dave.
CAN NEVER BE TO MANY DAVES!
I agree!
It's good to see someone so young with a real passion for what he is doing with his dogs. If everything goes well maybe the Iditarod race in Alaska will some day be a target.
If I have have the chance to see the race in person, I'll be glad to do so but I'll probably die of hypothermia. I'm from the Philippines. Nice to see Dave's son pursue the things he enjoyed the most! Wish him luck and God bless!
That was an awesome episode
Silas’ dog sled team sponsored by.....wait for it....Blaze King 👍
Danger seem to be the most affectionate.
They're actually all really friendly and affectionate!
What a bright young kid, best wishes for your future! 👌👍
This was so cool. Great content and good luck to the young man.
As all ways thank you can’t wait for the next
A guy with a plan. I love it!
Privileged kids get the keys to a new car for their sweet 16... truly privileged kids get the keys to the dogsled for their sweet 16.
Awesome topic and a great ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/Ed
Always reach for the stars young man. Settle for nothing less than the treetops.
Jeff: How dangerous is this race? Could you die?
Silas: It's not a very dangerous race (glances at mom). :)
Oh yeah, tell me where i can donate some hard earned norwegian kroner to this young champ so he can get even more ready to this race with his dogs! So cool to see young people going their own path , like there is no doubt what this guy wants to do 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Just pinned a comment with the link!
@@Gridlessness i put money on that gofundme page and my bank account was hacked and there was someone trying to do 4 transactions so i had my bank hot card the account .. that just stinks .. if there is a different way let me know .
Another great video to wake up to
wow that is so cool. Does he have his own you tube channel.. good job Dave your son is awesome
Great content!!!
Dog 😃👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Good morning and Family
My son: “I really like the puppy music!” Lol I sounds like someone dubbed some barks into the mix? 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
loyal fans always watch from Indonesia
Awesome!
Congratulations Silos!!
Really awesome. Live stream the race, we want to watch.
Hello Gridlessness Family! It’s now the “next year,” you refer to in this video, 2022. So we need an update on Silas! Did he get enough funding to be of any substantial help? How has the training been going? I read something about the Caledonia Classic which said the 100 mile race is a seven dog race. It also said if a dog gets injured and needs to drop out, the team must have the minimum required number of dogs remaining, in order to continue racing. So I wonder, has Silas gotten one or two additional dogs, so that now he has 7 or 8?
Also, have you determined if there is a way to live stream the Caledonia Classic? Or can Silas record the race from his viewpoint, and post that via your channel, &/or his parents? Maybe you can record the beginning/ending of the race from your viewpoint, and give us a link to where we can view the whole thing? Please let us know! Thank you very much for sharing this inspiring real-life adventure! 🌲💙🛷🐕❄️🌨
Ahh shucks...sniffle, sniffle...
The skis on his first sled: Karhu from Finland
Happy Birthday!
I was totally invited to a guys kennel who was going to take me out over the winter. As my great luck would have it, he blew out his knee and could run them! So my dreams just went down the drain for the winter! 😭
