I legitimately thought for a second that, after saying "why not be like a normal person and use", you would have said either i3 or sway.
unrelated to this video but your last one with helldivers issues. I was having crashes before even launching with latest 6.8.9 kernel, but no issue with lts kernel. I then found a reddit thread explaining there is a proton issue with latest kernel and turning on resizable bar fixes it, and it did fix it for me
It is doubtful that the resizable bar has anything to do with it! The resizable bar is just about how much memory can go quickly from the GPU to the CPU, by default that is 256 MB maximum and thanks to resizable bar that is much more. Note that resizable bar only gives better performance if you have Zen3 or upwards with RDNA2 or upwards. NVidia copied it from AMD for marketing reasons but they failed to do it properly, Intel supports it but it doesn't work well.
A much more likely reason why Chris has this problem with Helldivers is that the game can't handle tiling, some games have to be started up with floating first or you have to change the settings first before starting up the game. In most cases just setting the resolution on borderless-windowed solves the problem but not all games support that. In one case I had to first set the workspace in my dwm to floating to get the EA-launcher to show, then after starting the game I got stuck on the game-launcher (Mass Effect) so I started up the game on a boring floating desktop-environment, switched the setting in the menu of the game and then I could just start it up from dwm. I have at least 2 games which I can play on dwm but as soon as I swiitch to another workspace I can't get back in the game, there is no solution for that, those gamers are just broken but at least I can play those games.
@@peterjansen4826 I know what resizable bar is. But it’s a known issue with Linux 6.8.9 and proton. This is the workaround regardless for us having the errors

@54:25 you replaced line 2684 ".background_pixmap = ParentRelative,", i think you meant to paste the 3 line in below it, could this have had an effect on it not working?
Hey chris use fastfetch, neofetch is deprecated. Fastfetch is made in C and its noticeably faster (at least on my machine). Its also cross platform so its available on windows as well
When I finally got Chris to try out dwm I explained to him that he should try out the swallow-patch, it took a few weeks before I got him to try that one out and now he loves it. 😆I took over one patch from Chris though, the placemouse-patch. Do I ever use it? No, but it is fun that you can use it.

Use fastfetch man
DWM is great not because you keep it minimal - though keeping everything minimal is valid of course - it's that you go from minimal to adding in exactly what you like. You make your own 'bloat', which just means using your computer as you want it, not as it is given to you.
btrfs is nice, but it sucks for gaming. Too much IO_WAIT. Stick with ext4.
I really hate git. Never got along with it at all.
