No BeeGees were harmed during the filming of this tv show, despite scooting backwards on the slippery floor, getting crowded on stage right, and singing Chuck's wild and crazy song! It is cool to see all these guys on stage together. You sure have an eye and ear for what's going on with the guitar. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

This is a collaboration that I didn't know existed or could have imagined would work so well! This was a lot of fun to watch. I love seeing collaborations like this, when the artists may not be in the same genre, but you can see that the music transcends all of that, and they just respect and enjoy one another's talent and it just works. Thanks for this!

This is a huge & very delightful surprise, to see this oh so excellent & fun collaboration with Chuck & my most favorite & idolized group, The Bee Gees. I love how they are all having so much fun together. Chuck is obviously a positive influence & inspiration to the brothers Gibb, because look at em GO!, dancing like I've never seen them dance before. Another great video and analysis! I remember watching Chuck coming onto the Johnny Carson Tonight Show. He was the first act and was only supposed to play one or two songs. There were three other guests booked on the show (the second guest was Robin Williams), but everyone was so into the music that all the guests gave their time over to Chuck and he played the entire show. It was one of the greatest things I've seen on unscripted TV.

I took my then wife, who wasn’t a fan of Chuck, to see him live at Batley Variety Club, in the 70s. £1 to get in. He did 2 shows, 6pm to 9pm and 10pm to 1am. He opened with Roll over Beethoven, because, he said, he always liked to start with a Beatles song. I don’t know what time the second house got in, because it was nearly 11 pm when we left. Near the end of his set people tried to get on the stage, the bouncers were stopping them, till Chuck stepped in, and let them up. They were dancing all round him, till he eventually stopped. As he left the stage, he turned and said “THANK YOU BEATLES, THANK YOU ROLLING STONES”. Great night out, and even my wife enjoyed it. It’s a shame now, that people hardly get to see the big stars anymore. In the 60s and 70s it was common place to see the big stars in small clubs, like Manchester’s Twisted Wheel, for a lot less than £1. Yardbirds, Stones (52p), the Move, Kinks. Live is definitely best. One more thing, I believe Chuck travelled with just his guitar, and left it to the venue, to provide the amp and, a backing group that knew his songs.

I've read things about his later years when the musical stars of the day wanted to play with him, and he'd 'misbehave', for fun (?) There was an all-star concert honoring him which included Keith Richards, Springsteen, etc and he'd suddenly change up the key of the songs partway through, just to mess with them when they couldn't keep up. . He also punched Keith Richards in the face once

I saw Chuch when I lived in Reno in the 80s, and what a show he put on. He played for a couple of hours❤

Got to see Chuck live in the mid 70’s when I was a teenager. I had to sit thru a 3 hour oldies show. He was the headliner act.

Fil, every time I think I've seen all you can do with a guitar, I see you do something unexpected. Thanks for the analysis (which is always awesome) and letting others know that even if they don't have the "ideal" finger reach, they can make exceptions to create their own style (within their genetic ability) and still make a guitar sing! I have loved watching you over the years and beyond your own exceptional talent, you just have that innate ability to translate what you (or other artists) do - so that an ordinary human can comprehend it. Keep smiling and I hope everything you're dealing with is being resolved because "we" can't make through the week without our informative, creative and fun dose of Fil!! A very enjoyable, unexpected collab/jam session!

My favorite Chuck Berry videos are the one when he played a set with Keith Richards and the one when he was with his lady friend and he was suffering from some G.I. tract issues. Yeah, you know the one.

Maybe Jimmy Reed with the low blues guitar bounce up to the seventh and back that he had on so many of his songs, or Bo Diddley chord pattern.

This is only the second time I’ve ever seen a Standing ovation on the Midnight Special.
[ Focus with their Hocus Pocus is the only other time I’ve seen].
    This is a killer performance.
Chuck Barry played at a restaurant/ bar/ club in St.Louis, called Blueberry Hill - University City. “The Loop”. I grew up very near there, and had been there a number of times. Chuck NEVER disappointed ‼️
    Cool video ‼️

I presume they had some idea what chuck was going to sing as this version (Reeling and Rocking and Rolling) is different to the perhaps better known of Reelin and Rocking that was covered by groups in the 1960s. , I was sure he was going into Johnny B Goode.

I'd never seen this before. Boy, can I understand trying to play chords when you have smaller hands. I don't play guitar, but I play piano. I remember getting the sheet music for The Entertainer by Scott Joplin. The reach was a full chord plus two more keys. As it turns out, Chaplin had extra ordinary large hands. I guess that's why his rag time was awesome.

I love this video so much. I especially love the way Chuck's music & presence really gets the Bee Gees going! I wish there was more tracks of them with Chuck. I love your point about how nobody cares if they mess up because this is not an exam etc. PS: I still didn't notice anyone messing up anything😂 It was just pure Rock n Roll Bliss! & A good time was had by all😊❤

"Chuck is in the wrong place on his guitar but he just keeps on playing because it doesn't matter. Because it's about having a good time. Nobody really cares if you mess stuff up when your having this kind of fun because it's not an exam ... it's music." Oh, man. That is what I miss. Always a good video when Fil plays and sings.

when carl sagan collected sounds of the earth to include on the voyageur spacecraft he chose chuck berry's recording of 'johnny b good' to represent the music of the modern era that launched the craft .. thousands of years from now an alien race will hear that iconic riff on the other side of the galaxy ..
