Another racist term...and "Vikings" basically an Aryan race that sought to eliminate all non-whites...you think this is crazy??? wait a few years...

Alfie Nester I suppose I did not answer your question. "What's your assumption of the vote based off?" As far as I know there are no statics or surveys showing the opinion of most native Americans, As such, I base it on my opinion of what I think most native Americans think. Could be wrong, could be right. A vote or survey could solve that lack of information. But from what I have seen, most Native-Americans are good Americans who just want to live a good life. Although they are angry about the treatment they and their ancestors received by the US government and other governments who came to America in the early days. I suppose that to assume the majority of Native Americans feel one way or another without asking them would be wrong. So, what would you think of such a survey or vote? Although such a survey will likely never happen. Again, they are represented by a very small number of people which really gives them no voice.
it was an honor to have a name and design like the redskins. That was more offensive to me to change it. People who dont even like the game had it changed I doubt they became fans because of this.
"For the scalp of every male Indian enemy above the age of 12 years, produced as evidence of their being killed, the sum of 130 pieces of eight . . . for the scalp of every Indian woman produced as evidence of their being killed, the sum of 50 pieces of eight." Gov. Morris wasn't alone in his legislative eagerness to encourage scalping and annihilation of local Native Americans. In 1723 the Massachusetts colony paid 100 pounds sterling for the scalps of men older than 12 and 50 pounds for those of women and children. In 1755, the bounty still existed, though then-Gov. William Shirley had reduced it to 40 pounds for men and 20 pounds for women. Many more examples exist.

It really boils down to context. For example, put the name of the team in the context of their mascot. The Washington Redskins brave depicts a proud warrior. In this context, the name Redskins is fine as the whole package is meant as an homage to the Native Americans. Juxtapose that with the Cleveland Indians which uses a mascot that could be considered a borderline offensive racial stereotype, yet nobody seems to give a damn about them. All the attention is on the Redskins for some reason. What I don't get is if Redskins is such an unacceptable team name then why is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish considered acceptable? What's more offensive? A depiction of Native Americans as solemn and brave warriors, or the depiction of the Irish as a bunch of violent, drunken leprechauns? I guess because the Irish are white people it's okay to use archaic stereotypes in their team names and mascots.
You said it boils down to context, i believe? Let's make this simple for you. In what context could you have the 'Phoenix Suns' taken in an offensive, prejudice, or racist way? See what I am saying here. They need to change the fucking name.
Alfie Nester Wow, someone is angry. My statement regarding the Fighting Irish is based on the FACT that there is this big to-do going on about the Redskins but absolutely zilch about other "offensive racial stereotypes." In fact, I've read in many places where people who have attacked the Redskins name have defended the name of Notre Dame's team. As for me, I don't give two shits about either name. I think they're perfectly fine and I'm not about to change my view just because a bunch of social justice warriors on the internet feel obliged at activism in order to make them feel better about themselves.
Holy shit seeing the guy wearing a full headdress tell me that he's not racist is fucking hilarious. It's not that he's racist, just extremely misinformed to a hilarious degree that will definitely offend people.
These owners need to grow some balls and stand their ground on some of the political issues concerning the NFL. If I were the Redskins owner I would stand firm in keeping the team name. All of a sudden the name is offensive to people? Where were these people for the last 50 years? No one said a thing . Owners need to come together and tell their players MY TEAM MY RULES AND ON MY TEAM WE STAND FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM OR YOU CAN GO PLAY FOR THE JETS!!!
And so, if this happens, how will the winners of Super Bowls 17, 22, and 26 be referred to? Can't be called the new name, that wasn't used for the 82, 87, and 91 seasons. Are the 1977-78 NBA champions Washington Bullets called the Wizards, the name they were changed to decades later?
Polls dont mean shit and make no sense.. no one asked me? So fuck any results to any polls theyre a joke as much as the people who take them seriously.
1:58 Other than the fact that the word “Redskin” was initially used to identify Native American corpses left in the wake of our proud Manifest Destiny.
I agree with the black guy. The Redskins have been called that pretty much since the beginning of the NFL which was around the 1920’s and 1930’s and now all of the sudden, there’s a problem with the name?
What makes this offensive is their lack of knowledge in the history & geography of \Native Americans and their many contributions in world society. If it were not for Native Americans, there would be no democracy, no economy, no medicines, no good foods that we eat today, no thought of connection to every living thing on this planet! With so much they offered to the world and still treated as an afterthought or as a past tense....American society need to give up on their romantic ideology of First Nations people until they know the full truth of their history & culture and the various native tribes. Only then, can they (American Society), consider honoring these peoples with respect and dignity for how much they gave (up)....until then, its a mockery and disgrace!
If they change there name then the become a completely different team team witch means they start over. There entire history comes to a end all team records superbowl wins every thing would stop and start over. I am a cowboy fan and I don't want to see this happen to our fellow NFC East brothers! Yes they are our rival but with out the famous cowboys Redskins neither team would have been as successful as they are now and that rivalry help put the NFL on the map! I would DIE if they changed it to the Washington Bullets or something politically incorrect even more. Still would be sad though. Forever the Redskins. HTTR
Well u r looking at the wrong side of history. White people said when ever they see that logo , they see honoring Native Americans but what I see are white people killing my people. You don't know the real history behind that name. It came from white people who killed Indians and called them redskins because of when the blood spilled on Natives skin and how they got sunburned.Hell no change the name!!!!
+Uteballa1 May The funny thing is, you don't even know what the term "Redskin" means. A "Redskin" is when they scalped the Indians head, as proof for the killing of an Indian. In return for the killing of an Indian, you'd be awarded a certain amount of money.
@@Uteballa2408 It's so many different stories behind that name. I saw a full blooded Native American woman say that the name Redskins was thought of by Native Americans in the 1700's and she's not the only one that I've heard say that. Who knows the real truth.
@@bed8938 First, the way you worded that was kinda fucked up. Second, you’re wrong. The name refers to the paint native Americans applied to their bodies.
So the washington redskins have been around since 1937, why now in the year 2014 are people making a big deal out of this just now after all those years?
I know Redskin is *not* a racist word. In fact, a large Native American reservation in Arizona has a high school there and their team is called Red Mesa Redskins. There's plenty of videos of them on UA-cam. I suggest looking them up. I know this whole controversy has nothing to do with the meaning of Redskin, but in fact it's about a minority of Native Americans (Oneida, etc) that don't like non-Natives using names, symbols, gestures or themes of Native American culture in general. They try to convince others that non-Natives are being racist when they use them. Their plan is to change Redskins, if they succeed, they will go after Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, Chiefs, etc. That is their goal. That is all this is about. I'm not a fan of changing the name, but if they are going to change it I kinda like either the Washington Wolves or the Washington Redwolves.
Honestly, I did not expect them to change the name this year. That’s because there is a fucking global pandemic consuming the world, and people are still out in the streets complaining about a stupid sports team name. It’s not about racism, it’s about football and tradition. That’s all the fans care about. Next your going to tell me that the name ‘Browns’ is racist when it was chosen as the team name to honor one of the greatest coaches of all time, Paul Brown...
Josh Harris is the team's new owner- since Redskins is retired and the team can't claim the Commanders name, due to trademark laws, time to revisit the Redwolves name, since it's in public domain!!!
Change the name. I am black and if there was a team named the Washington black skins, I would feel offended. So I think they should change it. Witch they will.
Problem is...You're not Native American. Only the Native American's should have an issue with this and from what I've seen in comments and what I've seen on videos...most Native American's are NOT offended by the Redskins name. In fact, the guy is correct when he says the name and brand was created and designed BY a Native American. As a fan of the Cleveland Browns (Dawg Pound Baby!), a fan should know about his team. So stop trying to tell this football team to change its name and say you feel "offended" when you're not the very people you're claiming it's targeting, even though (once again) Native Americans are not offended by the word/name "Redskins".
@@ecstaticcarson8538 I think they are. They said that the word Redskins is just like the the "N" word. And they are changing the name anyways so no need to say anything else. U had a point though

Can't blame people for their ignorance... 100% of the time it's because of the environment they grew up in. I would put it this way for any simple minded, non empathetic, dense, and "non-politically correct" individuals. If there was an NFL team that "honored" Asians who were slaves and built the rail roads, and it was called 'Yellow Skins' do you think that be right? Or how about a team name that was made to "honor" black slaves called the 'Black Skins' or 'The Blackys" ??? Give me a break. The fact that people hold on to this kind of view shows how backwards we still are as a country. The same kind of people that pretend to not see a system that is inherently unfair and will do ANYTHING to perpetuate it. Even go as far to engage in a heart felt/drunken speech about how much they "honor" natives while wearing a headdress when they couldn't give you two cents of REAL history of the people. OMG I LOVE THIS VIDEO! It shows how "smart" the stereotypical Redskins fan is
It really boils down to context.
I guess because the Irish are white people it's okay to use archaic stereotypes in their team names and mascots.
any context should be perfectly acceptable for a TEAM NAME. Stop pulling at straws
Alfie Nester Not sure what exactly you're saying here. Care to elaborate?
You said it boils down to context, i believe?
Let's make this simple for you. In what context could you have the 'Phoenix Suns' taken in an offensive, prejudice, or racist way?
See what I am saying here. They need to change the fucking name.
Alfie Nester Soon as you direct your outrage at team names/mascots that are far more offensive like the Fighting Irish. Until then, LOL.
Should be...
Washington Warriors...
Keep the Native American head as logo
Alex Mercer agree but calling it the “football team” is dumb and dropping logo is crazy
As a Cowboy, Im very offended by the Dallas Cowboys name! It’s so demeaning!
@@tejasvis6190 : Sarcasm!
This guy was only talking to a select group of people but I'm sure 99% of Redskins fan do not want the name changed.
What do you mean "select group of people" he was literally at the stadium
@@Nico-ur2po I know he was at the stadium but he was only talking to a select group of people and not a variety of others at the stadium.
@@heartwinners410 Right but it's not like he's talking to random strangers on the street. The overall subset of people is Washington fans.
the guy was right. when you say Redskins all you think about is the Football Team, just that
When I hear redskin I think of the racial slur.
+steamboy34 don't be such a girl. most native american's don't think so
+D DIESEL I just feel like we are being misrepresented
steamboy34 no you're not. The redskins have millions of fans
You clearly aren't Native American so I don't see how you have the right to tell someone what's offensive and what's not.
fun fact: Vince Lombardi spent his last coaching years with the redskins. so that's another reason why they wouldn't change their name.
Hail to the red team, hail inequaliTY...
Hail to the red team, fight for ol' P.C.!!!
So the video is basically about non-Native Americans determining what is or isn't offensive to Native Americans. How stupid is that?
That's AMERICA for you.
#murica
Vikings is quite offensiv to us Scandinavian
Actually the video is about the opinions of some Redskins fans on the Redskins team name. That's all.
October 2021 anybody
Like I’m not a skins fan it’s not even racist then generation is just soft.
Funny at 2:10 lady blames Obama but it eventually happened under Trump!! Lololololo
THEY PREDICTED THE FUTURE WTF
Holy shit seeing the guy wearing a full headdress tell me that he's not racist is fucking hilarious. It's not that he's racist, just extremely misinformed to a hilarious degree that will definitely offend people.
Why not change it to “Washington Natives”?
Much worse lol
The guy who said his family is almost 100% full blooded Native American is one of the whitest looking guys I've ever seen.
So you're saying he didn't have red skin?
That’s kind of a racist sentence you just said
Change the Name to Washington First Nations. No need to change the team gear or Uniforms.
Facts
These owners need to grow some balls and stand their ground on some of the political issues concerning the NFL. If I were the Redskins owner I would stand firm in keeping the team name. All of a sudden the name is offensive to people? Where were these people for the last 50 years? No one said a thing . Owners need to come together and tell their players MY TEAM MY RULES AND ON MY TEAM WE STAND FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM OR YOU CAN GO PLAY FOR THE JETS!!!
I love how a white guy is wearing a war bonnet and is talking about natives. Smh
change it to Washington White Pilgrims
And so, if this happens, how will the winners of Super Bowls 17, 22, and 26 be referred to? Can't be called the new name, that wasn't used for the 82, 87, and 91 seasons. Are the 1977-78 NBA champions Washington Bullets called the Wizards, the name they were changed to decades later?
Jimbo: Chef, what about the baseball team, the Cleveland Indians, huh? Should they change their name because it's racist?
w9j15g Granted, the snake charmer is also a stereotype, just of Indians and not Native Americans.
w9j15g Point taken. Still, stereotypes in general don’t seem fair.
yes, yes they should.... it's really not that difficult...
Fans in team gear are asked in this "scientific" poll. Ask around more widely, so that you don't get the result you were looking for in advance.
Polls dont mean shit and make no sense.. no one asked me? So fuck any results to any polls theyre a joke as much as the people who take them seriously.
You can still keep the same team name without actually mentioning the racist term. You can call them the "blood colored epidermises".
change the fucking name,it disgusts me that the name has come this far and people still think it's okay
If you want I can offer my help to change the name of the team ?
It's offensive to change it.
Redskin is literally a slur what lol
@@augustible9151 no it’s not you moron. Do some research. The Redskins name was to honor a tribe from the DC area. Dumb ass
5 years later look at them now 🤣
@Alex Mercer no its not against native americans
@Alex Mercer no. The term "chief" was used when we moved to kc. The mayor of kansas city at the time waa nicknamed the chief.
Only two teams should represent the whole NFL. Team shirts and team skins.
We are rivals but we are also brothers! Stand strong skin fans don't bow down to the PC police they can only bark but they can't bite!
bullydog5150558 merimon Go Cowboys vs Redskins
bullydog5150558 merimon As a person who was born in DC, I’m not a redskins fan, but besides the Bears and Packers rivalry, my favorite is the Redskins and the Cowboys.
This has nothing to do with “Political Correctness” and the fact that you think this is a “Liberal Agenda” makes you a coward and an idiot to change this country for the better.
I'm a Raiders fan, keep the name Redskins it's cool. It's what everyone knows, not Commanders. What is that?
We could call them, "Washington Celtics football" and honor some more Europeans.
I would DIE if they changed it to the Washington Bullets or something politically incorrect even more. Still would be sad though. Forever the Redskins. HTTR
Hell No I Stand Up For REDSKINS Name
@@Uteballa2408 cry baby
So the washington redskins have been around since 1937, why now in the year 2014 are people making a big deal out of this just now after all those years?

THE OWNERS A PUNK FOR EVEN CONSIDERING CHANGEING THE NAME.
0:20 he said wedskins 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's been the Redskins for how long now but somehow everyone's crying over this
Benjamin Bair It’s been a compliant since the beginning, no one listened then and no one is listening now you fucking degenerate.

1:52 the shirt…. Hey Dallas 😅
Bravo to the truther in the head dress...
TheAmericasBailey Delusional power patriot.
The guy in the headdress saying it's not racist is like Amos and Andy in blackface saying there only honoring t he black community.
0:50 really!?
I"ve been a redskins fan for 30 years in north carolina only team i will ever root for. If they change the name and i have dropped some major cash in merchandise and tickets to games to watch my beloved redskins play so if the name goes the NFL has gotten my last damn dime KEEP THE DAMN NAME That would be the decent thing to do rather than caving into these politically correct BASTARDS who dont know a damn thing about tradition and pride. HTTR!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s racist grandpa get off the internet before you have another stroke
Fucking gross.
By the way, the only two sides to this is RIGHT and WRONG.
I love it, no more song, logo it’s over. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😄😂🤣
They will ALWAYS BE THE SKINS (NO MATTER WHAT)! HTTR!!!
