Glad to get another boat life adventure! Always Waiting! I was in the hospital with pneumonia and covid-19. That kicked my butt! I'm doing better now that I'm at home with a bag full of medicine and doing home oxygen therapy.
Oh shoot! That sucks T Mac... We are happy to see you here and hope that the oxygen therapy really helps! It is seriously going around now, seems to be everywhere. Best wishes from us ❤️
Always frustrating when you go aground. But as they say, if you haven't gone aground then you haven't been boating long. Because you will ground. Good job getting off.

Hi, on your way south, stop at Skull Creek Marina on Hilton Head Island and explore that beautiful island. I love, love Ollie, she is such a good on board dog. We travelled with a boat cat called Bosun!
If you guys are still having battery issues with your electronics acting up go through and check and clean up all your connections especially your grounds all through your boat and electronics.
@Scho and Jo Thanks... I did see that one an you got hurt. But must of missed you turning around!! An I'm not giving you a bunch of clicks!! Just kidding. Anyway we love your channel and are in Tennessee thinking about doing the loop... you two are very enjoyable to watch. God Bless
@@keithmoore7515 Haha! Yep sorry bout that - since we weren't going to have enough time to make it through Chicago we decided to do some major boat renovations, then head south to the Keys, to eventually head north again haha. A bit round a bout but that's what pivoting is I guess... Sweet! We are hoping to do some solid cruising in Tennessee this Fall, notably the trek to Nashville and Chattanooga. Cheers and best of luck getting onto the Loop!
Hiya Frederick! Thanks for stopping in and saying hi! We have a few systems that we use... Our shore power system is typically our ducted FCF air con and heating system. Our second very power hungry system is our electric heater which runs at 750W and 1500W - the 1500W is too much for our system without the generator or shore power. Lastly we just use blankets and wear warm clothes for the majority of the time :) Our dream system would be to install a diesel heater, we have an easy connection available and then there would be no issues! On hot days we have a small honeywell fan but air flow at anchor has been enough. Let us know if you have any other questions!
@@SchoandJo thanks for the quick response! I have also watched dozens of English narrowboat vlogs and the practical side of these adventures is always interesting. Good luck with the next phase.
Hi just found your channel and I’m binge watching, love it. Your hour meter for your engine says 15433 and never changes has the motor been rebuilt? If not how many hours do u think is on it.
Ah, running aground. All part of your education. Good job getting off. Noticed the same with your volt meter. It could be your alternator not keeping your batteries charged. Didn’t you switch over to Lithium batteries? If so your charging profile should be updated. Hope you get to travel on the GCR up our way on the Erie Canal.
Thanks Randy! I think you are right... we were definitely having some alternator charging issues at this point. Literally just yesterday I was speaking with a friend and he suggested I had it wired incorrectly... I updated it and initial tests looked very promising! Thanks for the tips! Absolutely - we are really looking forward to that section of the loop!
And those that have a few times like us haha... this was definitely the hardest aground we've been and not a huge tidal shift to lift us off. Glad it worked out!
Hi Guys, did you get your electrical problem sorted out? I caught a quick glimpse of your volt meter when you started your engine and the voltage looked low...is your alternator working? Volt meter should read over 13.5V with the engine running, looked like yours was 12V. Safe travels!
Great call! Literally yesterday we re-wired our Alternator set up, I believe it was only charging our starter batteries at this point so we were leaving a lot of charge on the table.... Basically we were using an old school isolator so I think the voltage drop kept if from charging the Lithium?? Will keep a close eye on it for our next few cruises. Thanks again!
@@SchoandJo Sounds like you are on it. Did you confirm your alternator output voltage at >13.5V? I recommend checking the voltage right at the alternator before moving down the circuit. I'm no lithium battery expert, but assuming the alternator is working; and, as Randy indicated in the comments, you may need to have additional devices installed to properly control the alternator to lithium charging.
@@vipercoil630 Yea! Our current set up uses the Victron Orion DC-DC charger so we can monitor voltage there (as well as ensure the Lithium configuration) - unfortunately it won't tell us how much amperage its sending but we can see that on our shunt so no big deal. I'm looking forward to leaving this mooring on Wednesday to really see how it handles on a 50 mile day!
We draw 3.5 ft so we're pretty shallow. Funny enough, when we were heading North in May 21' the lockmaster warned us about that corner. Just wasn't thinking about it while heading South.
We skipped the other route south because of a few reasons: a) we had a tight timeline to get home for the holidays so we wanted to travel on the route we knew b) because of the bridge closure we knew that we could have a few days uninterrupted at the welcome center and c) we had a fun video planned there (you'll see soon). But we will be heading north on the Loop in the spring so we will probably do the other route then just to experience it!
@@SchoandJo Thanks for the reply. I'm local to the area and was just wondering. I'd like to do a mini loop from Norfolk down the dismal swamp canal and back up the Albemarle & Chesapeake canal. Great channel.

Good job getting "ungrounded"! Pizza looks delicious! ❤
So sorry about the grounding! You handled it well though.
Awesome place
That docking spot is like the boat life equivalent of boondocking at Walmart! It’s so convenient! That pizza looked SO dang good too!
Haha well said! The pizza was an absolute win!!
Awesome vedio and always the story behind the vedio

Love the white scarf and headband. Hope it kept you warm.

Thanks Harold!
Poor Ollie looks terrified by the traffic noise on the bridges. Hopefully she gets used to it in time.
That specific type of bridge always gives her the heebie jeebies... but it passes just as fast as it arrives. 🤷

Am I mistaken 😳 but did you just not pass through going North? I expected you to continue north through NY to continue the loop journey.
