Fun fact. In 1955 6.76 cents had the same purchasing power as a whole 2024 dollar. I know this because I have a 1955 viewmaster booklet ( came with a vintage 56 viewmaster viewer) that says you could get 3 reels for a dollar, and I went on eBay and Etsy and found the equivalent brand new 2020s product at cheapest is 15 bucks.
One of my hobbies is metal detecting. Those are all real pennies. Pennies from 1982 and older are mostly copper. Anything after 1982 is mostly zinc. They started minting shield back pennies in 2009.
Yeah back in the day a lot of these machines made you supply your own pennies and it didn't matter how tarnished they were the crushing made them shiny and blank on the back side.
Canada still produced copper pennies after the US had stopped until 1996, and because the copper in the pennies were worth more than the penny people from the US would buy them up for their scrap value. Canada got rid of all pennies in 2012 because they cost more to produce than they were worth.
One thing about Disney, there are rabbit holes for everything you want to collect. Pennies, pins, apparel, popcorn buckets etc. a person could go broke collecting stuff.
Got me motivated to find my random elongated coins & put them in the folder (that I have somewhere…) Good old memories, best to keep them safe ;) I think I have some old dirty ones from when we had to put our own pennies in, along with a quarter. Looking forward to seeing what I have, probably 20 yrs old now or more.
I remember collecting these as a kid when it used to cost 51 cents per crushed penny. You use to have to carry change to put into a coin slot! 2 quarters and a penny! They use to use your penny you put in the machine.
Thanks for sharing you penny pressing adventure. It's a fun hobby, and we love tracking them down all over Disney property and other roadside attractions. Keep up the great work!
I remember the living seas ride back in the 80s the best part was when the ride went sideways and followed the large live fish tank. I’ll never forget that.
When I was a kid We would leave pennys onnthe train tracks and listen to the trains squash em' dont recommended that now but it was fun to see lincoln stretched..lol
It was wonderful meeting you and Jacob yesterday! Thank you for taking time to chat and take photos with my husband, Stephen, and I (Jennie). You made our day! We hope to cross paths again someday and perhaps share a piping hot beverage with you. We appreciate all you do and thank you again for your kindness. God bless you!
Crushed pennies seems like the most economical collectible in Disney. They are also easy to store. I cannot imagine storing a popcorn bucket collection! 🙂
Note Adam we collected the pennies in the early 2,000’s when my kids were little(they loved to crank the wheel) and learned to get shiny pennies from cast members then immediately put them in the collector books because it would keep them in pristine condition instead of brushing against each other . Just a pro tip. My kids now in their 20’s still love looking at them today.
I love collecting these. Been doing this for decades. My older ones are treasured and rare. I have a few complete copies of even the Disneyland 2005 50th. They are so fun
I've been a fan of your videos for quite some time, but I have concerns about certain aspects of the cerebral processes. Their pennies! They are all pennies. LOL
My son loves the crushed pennies. Twenty years ago every Disney visit I brought a bag of quarters and pennies to get whatever he wanted, he thought twisting that handle was the greatest thing!!!! Are you not putting in your own pennies??😊
We love the medallions. Almost too many to count or gather, but we have some figment and jones medallions from the D100 set. Even a special iota version before these machines came out.
Cool collection. FYI - Buccees has the penny machines too. I’ve seen some of your videos going there. So just a heads up for when you go to Buccees again.
The stitch at 12:32 is playing in the sand at the beach. It’s not poop. Lol. ~~ 29:56 is Mickey with the Morocco themed outfit on. The characters in there are dressed for the different countries around World Showcase.
I REALLY like the pressed penny collection n I didn't know they had albums for them. SUPER COOL!!! I also collect the pressed pennies!!! Great impromptu vlog!!!
I have collected some Disneyland crushed pennies and from other places whenever I went on vacations. There are supposed to be three pennymachines at pizzerizzo’s one that has a pizzerizzo logo and the other machine has muppets 3D Pennies in the outdoor eating area.
I absolutely love listening to Jacob yelling on the Tower of terror.😮😮😂 I'm not hating at all. Just asking a question if they're my real pennies, I thought you couldn't deface government currency! Only reason I'm asking I soldered five pennies together as a kid at the RC track as the lady for a nickel and she chewed my butt, lol 😂
I've been collecting squished pennies since the 1990s .back when you got to turn the crank and squish the penny you put in the machine . Now they are just copper slugs and most are automatically squished. I have several books...including squished quarters. I don't like the automatic ones . I only like the ones that use actual pennies that is squished by turning the crank and there are very few of them now.
Leaving Epcot on the Friendship Boats to Hollywood Studios takes about 25-30 minutes. They stop at Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Clubs, Swan & Dolphin before the final stop at Hollywood Studios. (It’s a nice walk, too!) 😊
12:25 Stitch: Sits in sand in a moment from his actual movie, set in Hawaii, famously surrounded by sand. Adam & JCB: Is that dung? Maybe, I think it's snow!
The ones with the shield are actual pennies. Theyve made a few diffeeent penny designs over the years, like they did with quarters. They also use blank slugs for the machines. My best guess is they refill with the actual pennies when short on thr blanks.
Adam's video was 34:46 long and Jacob's was 35:27 long. I personally enjoy a longer video sometimes. But I know where the stop button is so it's usually not an issue either way.
Adam I used to collect the pressed pennies. I don't know why I haven't continued getting them. I think I'll start back up again on our September trip. I have also walked that scenic walk from Hollywood Studios all the way to the back gate of Epcot. That's a long walk. LOL!
Awesome video. I would love to be able to get a lot of the pressed pennies. The Stich penny he was in a pile of beach sand. He lives in Hawaii so it makes sense.
Love that you’re collecting the pressed Pennie’s .. may I suggest possibly sliding a colored card behind each penny? It would definitely make them “pop”(easier to see the penny ) Michael’s or Hobby lobby may sell something for this type of books (baseball cards etc..). But regardless great video. Love the adventures w Jacob the Carpetbagger. ❤❤❤
Might have to copy Adam. The pennies seem like a good way to collect something without going broke and without needing an entire room to display your collection.
ah they made this too easy. I have books of pennies going back to early 80s. Me and my mom would save the shiniest pennies and have rolls of quarters before every Disneyland trip. 1 trip when DCA first opened a CM at the Grand actually photocopied a list of everything in the resort. Felt like I had One Eyed Willies treasure map lol
Only Disney can make 8 cents cost a dollar. Haha
$5 for all 8 actually lol 😂
I think it use to cost only 51 cents when you had to supply your own penny.
@@writerpatrick You are correct.

Pennies are 1 Dollar each or Special deal today 4 for 4 Dollar!!!!
Haha truth
Yes, those are the "backs" of an actual pennies. Stitch also looks like he is sitting behind a mound of food. It is called a "Five and Dime".
It's the reverse of a US Cent.
Stitch would be playing in a pile of sand as would be found on a Hawaiian beach.
Haha I thought that was hilarious!! I was yelling "but it is a real penny!!" 😂😂 actually really sad people don't know that
One of my hobbies is metal detecting. Those are all real pennies. Pennies from 1982 and older are mostly copper. Anything after 1982 is mostly zinc. They started minting shield back pennies in 2009.

That is interesting info ,my daughter likes to polish the dull ones
When you make a lot of money you forget what penny's look like. Lol
Penny presses used to be 50 cents each and had to supply your own penny
$1 each or 4 for $4. What a steal!
Gotta love those Disney deals

28:38 ,sign says "Port of Entry " not point of entry
Yes!! He said it a few times and I was like PORT
That was a hot date you had on Valentine's Day!
Indeed !
The excitement when a new machine is spotted lol 😆

Soo cool you brought your special friend with you to collect penny press. 🙏💯
He's definitely "special"
It was awesome to get to meet you the other day while we were in line for Tower of Terror ! Keep pumping these out brother!

The dynamic duo! Great video!

I agree with you . I like them and pins

I loved a Penny once. No,…… twice.
you should go visit tennessee again like in your older tdw videos
I love collecting these. Been doing this for decades. My older ones are treasured and rare. I have a few complete copies of even the Disneyland 2005 50th. They are so fun
They also used to have quarter presses. Got a bunch of them
That's a nice book for your pennies. Good way to organize them.
Show us something interesting like the DISNEY JAIL!
I've been a fan of your videos for quite some time, but I have concerns about certain aspects of the cerebral processes. Their pennies! They are all pennies. LOL
They’re brand new pennies. Uncirculated.
No
My son loves the crushed pennies. Twenty years ago every Disney visit I brought a bag of quarters and pennies to get whatever he wanted, he thought twisting that handle was the greatest thing!!!! Are you not putting in your own pennies??😊
No these particular machines have penny’s already loaded
When I was a kid, we put pennies on the railroad tracks and had the train mash them

Yesss...another Woo- Carpetbagger video. Winning combo.
I love Penny Pressing machines. I got a few souvenir pressed pennies.
A beautiful journey 😎🇺🇸
U talking about spit & poop 💩 that was so very funny 😂🤣
I love that Jacob is showing off a Mothman T-shirt
I like to turn my pressed Pennies into pins by gluing a push pin on the back, that way I can display them instead of putting them in a book
As a West Virginian, I loved hearing Jacob talk about the Mothman and the Flatwoods Monster!
He does a lot on his Channel Jacob the Carpetbagger. If you don't already subscribe to him I would recommend his channel.
neat vid! I enjoyed the penny machines when I visited Disney. So many neat designs for the penny's.

Yes there is or was a Pizzerizzo pressed penny machine. I think it may be upstairs.
I'm going to have to add pressed pennies to my collection now! Never really thought about it before.. Usually pins only! Thanks Adam!
Looks like jacob couldn't stay away, had to come back and have some more fun with the woo
Press Prennys rule... Medallions drool...
They are called Lincoln shield pennies
There was a second penny machine in PizzeRizzo on the second floor with the PizzeRizzo logo
The elongated coin rabbit hole is a good / fun one to go down.
Cheap and easy to store.

Do people really spend two hundred to get in and stand over 8 hours in line for 4 rides? Madness, not my vibe.
I remember putting my own pennies in, that might be why it looks unfamiliar. I would think the same thing. Cool souvenir to have for sure.
They’re all pennies, Adam. Have you not looked at a penny recently? 😄
Just looked super clean and couldn’t see anything left of original design once crushed . Threw me off
Was gonna post the same thing lol. Those are the new pennies.
They use copper slugs now
Problems of the 1 percent
They are pennies. Certain runs of the newer pennies have an American shield logo instead of the traditional Lincoln Memorial stamp on the back side.
Nice my dad’s former student has some of these in hover dam and I think the statue of liberty?and more I think

Pressed pennies are practically perfect! Inexpensive, almost always a great design and fits in your pocket.
Fun fact you can use Skyline chili's hot sauce to clean tarnished pennies
Will be you be doing non Disney press pennies during your travels?
Pressed pennies, the best way to gather small keepsakes.
Yes absolutely .pretty fun and don’t take up much space
For muppets smashed pennies I saw Animal and Janice at All Star Music.
I liked this random day..although do wish Disney put some more effort into the penny press themes.
I work at Epcot at the world traveler merchandise store! Come say hi sometime, I grew up watching you with my dad :)
Years ago I operated a hand cranked, chromed penny press. It was 50 cents and you supplied the penny.
Leaving Epcot on the Friendship Boats to Hollywood Studios takes about 25-30 minutes. They stop at Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Clubs, Swan & Dolphin before the final stop at Hollywood Studios.
(It’s a nice walk, too!) 😊
What??? i use pennies all the time for change..................
I love the pressed penny adventure. I love your “Point of Entry.“ instead of Port. Maybe not enough hot caffeinated beverages today 😂
You gonna get to swamp fest this weekend 🎉😊
You collecting Disney Pennies and Kyle collecting Lorcana cards……..Both very excited about it too……💰💰
In the old days you had to have 51 cents for each penny. It cost .50 and you supplied the penny.
I did the press pennys with my son when he was 10. He has over 100.
Same 💩 different 🪰
They are real..they just shine up when crushed
