It truly is a bizarre phenomenon. I have no interest in this camera, but it's a good camera, at a good price. Idk why people want to resist that. In my opinion: X100V = overrated as hell, X100VI = great feature set with good value.
Just used one for 16 days in China and it was brilliant, especially IBIS in caves and night shots, the ND for waterfalls and fill in flash when needed. A pocket masterpiece.

Nice review. Subbed. One question though, I thought the video quality and capability was on par XT5? But as you said like XT4, I'm curious, is the video better on X100VI or XT5?
Thank you! Both. Specifically the non-HQ 4K quality is on par with the X-T4 4K and that is also similar to X-T5 non-HQ 4K quality. 4K HQ quality is better than X-T4.
I failed to pick up a V, and I don't feel confident about getting one of these, which is frustrating as a long time Fuji photographer. I refuse to buy from scalpers.
@@villegas24 There are literally numerous reasons to get it, as proven by the insane amount of orders. The X-T5 is totally different experience, there isn't really any reason to think that it can replace the X100VI.
@@TheHybridShooter Really? That's a bold statement. I mean, beside the 40mpx of the X100VII (which don't even get resolved), same image processor, 6k videos on both (although in different formats), similar bitrates, identical photo profiles and colours, same IBIS, same AF...🤷🏻♂
@UCk-OG9Ci33dyNKZXajCEzrA X100VI is experience oriented camera, the X-S20 is pragmatic camera, so the user experience is the fundamental difference. The specs are secondary with the X100VI. You need to figure out what is more important for you. You also need to decide whether you want to change lenses. I'm not sure where the "lens cannot resolve 40 MP" myth comes from, but it is a complete nonsense, as you can see in the sharpness test in this video.
Great in-depth review. Appreciate the testing at different focal lengths. Seems F/2.8 (sharpest corners) and F/4 (sharpest center) are the optimal ones. Still wish they would have upgraded the lens to be better
Lens is fine. We take photographs not curate art works….. A French guy did a very detailed video YT video on the lens and its resolution. It was close on a 35mm Leica. See Ken Rockwell tests too. As Rockwell says, it’s the shooter not the optic. I tend to use the ‘double the aperture rule’ for optimum sharpness so that’s F4 on this camera. The central crop to 50mm on the digital zoom has a similar effect. So I use F2 or 2.8 on that which is good for portraits. For real world work the lens is up to the job. Otherwise get an MF film camera and spend a fortune on film and scanning.
@@TheHybridShooter I will come as an update for the other gen5 cameras. In your footage is not even there, probably you used some old fujifilm recording. We appreaciate that you showed us how it works!
What I really dislike is the motor of the focus. It is so loud and basically renders video with continuous focus useless of no external microphone is used.
Thanks for the review. I'm glad to know about this camera I will never buy. As a Fuji shooter, I'm glad Fuji is enjoying success with this model, but to me the specs are overkill and the hype is frankly puzzling. I guess it's a very interesting and fun camera for people who may not intend to use other Fujifilm cameras. That was my intention when I purchased the X100F 6 years ago, but I quickly migrated to the interchangeable lens cameras. With the X-Pro-3, X-T4 and X-E4 now my mainstay gear, I hardly use the X100F anymore and see no need to upgrade to a 40 MP X100VI. Moreover, I find the X-Pro3 as "fun" to use (and perhaps more) as the X100F. With either of the Fuji 18mm f2 and 27mm f2.8 lenses or the new Voightlander 18mm f2.8 and 27mm f2 pancake lenses, an X-Pro-3 or X-E4 can quickly mutate into a more versatile X100 kit. Your mileage may vary. (and the price will also differ, of course)

Nice review as always. 40 mp seems to me not a real advantage ever let’s say 26 mp, and increase the file size and computer workload. In comparison between V and VI that Mp increase doesn’t seems to be evident in photo quality. Do you have the version V?
Thank you! Depends on your viewing device. The image quality is much better with the X100VI, there is no doubt about that, but you won’t see it on a small screen.
@@ilanhoward That is not true, as proven by the sharpness test in this video. Getting that level of detail with X100V is absolutely impossible. Also, resolving XY megapixels is not can / cannot thing. There are diminishing returns on increasing sensor resolution with sub-par lens, but that is not the case here, again as proven in the review.
Finally, the video I've been waiting for. I know IBIS is great and all but the less limitations of one camera only remove the fun off of it. I enjoy my X-E4 with XF 18mm f2 more than my X100V and X-T5 with 23mm f1.4 WR that means the X100VI is not for me. My new favorite FUJIFILM right now is XF10.
