Yeah speedrunning 100% ruined playing casually for me in this game specifically. Even playing casually, I still manage to play fast lol. It's the only reason why I have not tried to speedrun any other games.
Thank you SO MUCH for making a no commentary video, not that I dislike you, I've never even heard your voice. No commentary is just preferable no matter who is talking.
I hard disagree. Often learning about the tricks imo is the reason why I watch a speedrun. Carcinogen SDA uploads each run with and without commentary and I kinda like that too.
Its cancels my sprint in the air so I can carry that momentum and the sprint begins to recharge. If done correctly, I can basically have a infinite sprint cycle.
Amazing, I love to complete a halo game on legendary and see speedrunners like u demolish my time😂 What's the hardest section in ur opinion that requires tons of trial and error? And why do u melee often when running?
The hardest section of the game would be without a doubt the very first trick of the game where I launch off the box in Dawn. That trick is way harder than it looks and even the OOB portion can be tricky with all of the death barriers and the random holes/walls that can be in the way. Also the reason why I melee so much is actually a sprint strategy. When you cancel your sprint midair, you keep the momentum and your sprint begins to recharge. So if I repeat that pattern correctly, I can basically have infinite sprint.
It's the infinite spring glitch. Sprint, Jump and then melee (before sprint ends), hit sprint before jump ends. MC will still sprint as he lands. It have saved me lots of time covering distances and scoring some of those time based MCC achievements!
Grinding the same thing repeatedly can become very tedious. But by constantly tweaking routes and strats, speedrunning can be very fun and be rewarding.
Its repetitive but in a good way to where you just get better, so you really don't get bored because you constantly are getting better🤷🏽♂️so yeah it's pretty fun, if you haven't definitely do try to speedrun halo games
Hes probably got some dead eye accuracy from all the precise shots and timing and generally can survive better in actual gameplay. Its not exactly 1:1 translation to online, but it can make you a better halo player for sure lol
@Sébastien Levesque I mean, imo people can spend their free time on whatever they want. As long as it’s not like more than 2 hours a day I don’t think it’s unhealthy
Ayee, this was dope! Well done! Not sure if this would help or not lol but holding down the Drift key before landing your warthog usually smoothens out the landing and you keep your momentum!
Wow, I much prefer your dawn skip to the real intro- feels like you take out a crew that boarded, climb outside the damaged ship, and then when you come back in you're sucked out of the hull and thrown into Requiem. I always felt like it was so dumb that once all the covenant ships realized you were there they didn't just obliterate the shieldless half-ship you're on.
I'm having a really hard time jumping onto the phantom at the beginning of composer. Is there any tips you have on how to make the jump, and also how to reliably hit the checkpoint right before the jump. So many times if I fuck it up, I have to revert to the beginning of the level.
That nade jump can be a bit tricky. First, to get the checkpoint, make sure that you properly delay it. In the vid you can see that I melee alot in the beginning, and that is intentional. If you get a cp at anytime before you cross the gap, you wont be able to get one for the nade setup. For the nade jump itself, the key to the jump is to not be left of the phantom. There is that rectangle on the floor that I line the nade up with, try to be directly in the center or slightly to the right. The hitbox (platform) of the phantom that you can actually stand on is higher on the left side, which makes the jump more difficult. Also make sure to start your sprint as soon as the nade begins to arc downwards after it bounces. Also dont backup because then you wont get the horizontal distance needed to land on the phantom. Make sure to crouch and always keep moving forward. If you stop moving, you will mostly likely slide back down. Hope this helps!
Destroying the mantis and blowing up the doors with the rocket launcher is faster than the animation for both climbing in and out of the mantis. And the mantis has to be below a certain health percentage for the doors to be able to be destroyed.
Those sentinels at the beginning are only keeping the covenant back because they know this man is gonna be in and out in 10 minutes or less guaranteed.
1:00:37 that wall breach doesn't work on PC *EDIT You need to grenade jump to do it. For some reason i wasn't able to jump as high as he has in this run
That means thats you are moving too fast. The first half of reclaimer is tied to the mammoth. If you move too fast you will either be killed by timers or just deload the mammoth. Usually after you destroy the first particle cannon there will be some dialogue. To be safe, just cross the river once the mammoth starts moving and that should avoid the timer all together. But if you cross the river a bit earlier (like in the vid) make sure you dont hit the load at 44:39 too fast or else you will deload the mammoth.
@@corywillmon4414 Hey cory, thanks for letting me know :) i just gave up at some point and crossed the river in the mammoth 🤣 I just couldn’t figure it out after rewatching you like 20-30 times 😂 But thanks for the tip will think about it next time i do halo 4 again.
I have an honest question. This game is extremely antithetical to speedrunning. The only worse halo game for speedrunning is 5. Unskippable first person cutscenes, out of bounds areas, death walls/death balls in places you have to go but cant go to until a character stops talking etc. Death walls/out of bounds timers in areas you can simply walk to by accident with a wrong turn. So my question is this, in spite of all that what makes you enjoy this game over the other Halo games? Which don't seem to be made to punish speedrunners
Don't know how to break this to you, but stuff like this is in many speedruns, including the other Halo games. This is any% afterall and it's not against the rules.
