Eliminating the Department of Education will decimate and in some cases eliminate educational opportunities for children with disabilities, health needs, and who live in high-poverty areas. We will go back to the era of many kids with disabilities being denied an education and their families services. This is reckless and will affect every state in the country. Private schools are NOT REQUIRED to serve children with disabilities. That's why public education is so important for those students.
I'm a school bus driver, and i can tell you that teachers and school bus drivers dont think highly of parents. There are good parents out there, but most parents use the schools and buses for convenience even if they are stay at home parents. Parents need to be accountable, and teachers need more help. The school system is not helping teach the kids the best to their abilities. Plus, the administrators suck as well. Since i was a kid living in Portland, oregon, the school administrators always canceled school beyond the last minute for snow days, resulting in chaos. There's too many things too fix but needa to be done for the kids.

He's made that extremely clear. He’s not going to be able to get rid of the Department of Education - there’s too many people even within his own caucus that need the Department. However, he’ll slash Title I, Title V, and Title IX funding, and that might be enough for his base.
Also remember that now, all three branches of the White House are Republican-dominated, so even if the President alone doesn't have enough power to dismantle the DOE, he might be able to do so with the help of congress and, to a lesser extent, the supreme court.

Iowa does not care about low income children. They had funding for every child enrolled in school to get a p-EBT card for the summer. They cut that funding. By God’s grace we managed, but a lot of families had a hard time. There are a lot of parents who are relying on breakfast and lunch provided for free by the school. I don’t know how the kids will manage if the plan doesn’t include money for lunches. Clearly Iowa proves how little they care about feeding children & when this goes into effect I don’t think Iowa will manage that aspect of children’s education well. They also cut some after school programs & if left up to the states some states will not manage it well.
I’m a special education teacher and I just hope they take into account families with children that have special needs and disabilities. The Okie superintendent needs to see the whole country and not just his backwards thinking poor state.

He's made that extremely clear. Of course he doesn't have a plan to push Christianity in school, but by easing federal laws that prohibit religion in public schools, he clears the way towards that becoming a reality.

That figure you're reporting just refers to how many people go on to higher education (college) after high school and how many public schools there are. Not much of a shock that a highly rural/agricultural state like Oklahoma has low rates of college education. Not much of a valuable statistic.

Having that version of the Bible in schools is even problematic for Christians who don't recognize the King James version since it omits crucial Books.
That's what state churches meant in Europe. Theological debates are a lot easier when one side can borrow the enforcement power of the state.
The most important job of state churches was to flog other Christians and pay back the crown for it's support.
He’s not going to be able to get rid of the Department of Education - there’s too many people even within his own caucus that need the Department. However, he’ll slash Title I, Title V, and Title IX funding, and that might be enough for his base.
Honestly thats a better solution than abolishing an entire department esp. One as important as DoE.
Also remember that now, all three branches of the White House are Republican-dominated, so even if the President alone doesn't have enough power to dismantle the DOE, he might be able to do so with the help of congress and, to a lesser extent, the supreme court.

Keep an eye on life expectancy rankings in the world. The US is now about 50th. It was 13th in the 1950's but fell to 40th in 2019 and worse during Covid.
Iowa does not care about low income children. They had funding for every child enrolled in school to get a p-EBT card for the summer. They cut that funding. By God’s grace we managed, but a lot of families had a hard time. There are a lot of parents who are relying on breakfast and lunch provided for free by the school. I don’t know how the kids will manage if the plan doesn’t include money for lunches. Clearly Iowa proves how little they care about feeding children & when this goes into effect I don’t think Iowa will manage that aspect of children’s education well. They also cut some after school programs & if left up to the states some states will not manage it well.

If I heard correct Oklahoma Gov is saying Title 1 funds would be redistributed to the parents of those kids. You can pray at any time in school. But allotting time in the day shows a systematic preference for Christianity, which violates the 1st amendment. However, if someone decides to pray out loud and it's not disrupting the class, teachers, administrators, etc should step in if one student decides to bully the religious kid for it, and vice versa

Here we go again, making education in North America go from bad to worse when it gets decentralized - compare that with European countries like France where students across the country write their exams at exactly the same time every year - or England where one exam determines whether students go to grammar school or technical school - the exams and curricula are universal across each of those countries and their education systems are successful and not given to class or income barriers, unlike US and to a certain extent Canada.
They have failed to improve education in any measurable way. Let the states decide how they want to educate their children. It's not that hard.
