    I saw an interview with a young black woman who supported Trump and they asked her "why?" Her answer was extremely telling, she said, "I don't want to be a victim forever, and I want to feel proud about the country where I live." That makes perfect sense to me. I don't think we need to make stuff up - we can just ask them, and show respect by taking them at their word when they tell us.

      He thinks his Legacy is imperiled.
      It got repudiated when Trump won and in Biden small victory. Even though he's still popular with most of the Dem voters, his reputation took a hit when he tilted the scales for Biden in the primary.
      Now there's a sizable (and noisy) contingent in the Left that hates his guts and have been pouring light into what his Presidency actually was.
      This is pre-emptive damage control.
