Think you guys are missing the latest angle on this: if Salah is willing & keen to sign for one (1) year, then FSG must be trying to push for two (2). 2-years gives FSG the option to potentially sell him after 1 or 1.5 years, recoup some cash & re-invest. 1-year basically means there is no option for FSG to sell their prized asset. Sure, Salah currently has only 6-mths to go and can't /won't currently be sold but if FSG is willing to put big $-wages out the door, perhaps they're looking to have the future option of on-selling him. Salah will happily bank the large $-wages for 1-year and then cash-in on his free transfer status at the end of 2026. FSG's leverage, at this point in time, is Salah's desire to continue moving up the all-time goal scoring records both at LfC and in the EPL. For LfC's all-time scorers: Salah sits 5th (224 goals) & is 17 behind Hodgson who is 3rd (241), 61 goals behind R.Hunt who is 2nd (285 goals). Maybe he is happy enough ending up 3rd with another 1.5 seasons under his LfC belt ..Hunt (and certainly Rush 346 goals) might be a hat-trick or three, too far!!
Given alissons contract length and injury record, I'd seriously consider a big bid for Ali, with the view to keep Kelleher long term. Because the alternative is we keep Alisson, he misses parts of the next couple season and he leaves on a free, with the possibility of Marmadashvili struggling. Big risk. Hard one.
AFCON & international duty are factors and key factors at that, either he cuts his wage demands or commits fully to his club football and retires from international football,
1 year deal doesn't really change much. He can leave on a free in summer 2026. Next summer there'll be talk about whether he should extend his contract or sell him so the club will get a fee for him.
Just looking at Kelleher's place in the side as only being on the value of saving penalties is mad to me. Did you not see any of the rest if his superb performances this season? He's been in perhaps the best form of any goalkeeper in Europe, not just that he's saved a penalty or two. I think the case for dropping him gets harder and harder to make after every game because he has not put a glove wrong.
He should get a 2-3 year deal without question, unless FSG are going to sign some generational talent on the level of Nico Williams that I dont know about, no amount of money will get you what Salah delivered against the UCL Champions or EPL champions this week. My feeling is that all three get announced resigning for Christmas, how good would that be.
No player has matched Salah's productivity and availability from the RW or LW position. Portugal's Ronaldo maybe but he moved to CF. Williams plays LW.
Ignoring that Williams is a right footer, he's never and will never score at the rate of Mo Salah. I've no idea how we're going to replace his output if Nico and Chiesa are the best options we have.
i don't think Kelleher is better at saving penalties than Alisson. yes, he's saved 3 in a row, which is mental, but if he was really that good, he would've saved more than exactly 0 against Chelsea in the cup final

@@mgladwyn Shouldn't be 3rd choice next season. If Marmadasvili was playing during this period I doubt he'd have done any better than Alisson. Haven't lost any games. Alisson was playing against Nottingham Forest. Would be insulting for Kelleher to be behind Marma given what he's done for us.
Do think he needs to move for the sake of his own career
@ yeah but he won’t be coming to be 3rd choice, I’d bet he only agreed to come was to be Ali’s understudy for a year and take over as number one, he wouldn’t have signed if it was to be number 3
no offence to josh because i really like his analysis but i dont think you can call FSG smart owners when they have been so negligent over the last few years and the contract situations are anything but good sporting decision. thats just downright dumb on their part. btw i'm not fsg out either, more like fsg tolerant but they are just very disinterested when it comes to football as a sport and the spending constraints are sometimes quite too restrictive.
Chris is high on his own supplies. Kelleher is an exceptional goalie but there is no way in middle earth Becker doesnt walk straight back in. So you bench him and Kelleher has few dodgy moments, then what? You go back on hands and knees to Alisson? We are going for league title we dont need this nonsense
@@Popolampoh Kelleher has been performing so well he doesn't deserve to be dropped. What if Alisson comes back, is a bit rusty and has a howler but still keeps his place? Should keep playing players in form and should earn their place on merit. No incentive for back up players if the 1st choice has a poor game and still keep their place
Recency bias! I love Kelleher I acc think he’s so so so good but Alisson man.
Salah wants at least 2 years. He doesnt rate this 1 year thing. If I were Liverpool, I'd give a 2 year deal 400K a week. If he doesnt accept, deport his ass to Egypt next summer. In harvey elliot we trust🙏
FSG in? Ben Davies and Kabak on loan during a CB crisis? Lol.
We made a profit on both to be fair ? 😂
Why's that not Jurgens and the football dept's fault?
@@seth1455How could it be? If we were given enough money that window we would have signed someone better. We were given £1.5m to sign 2 centre halves.
@@PencilBubble25 who told you Jurgen only had 1.5 million to spend ?
Ben Davies was only ever a break glass in emergency kind of player, that's why he didn't play.
FSG by the way are doing an excellent job of developing and managing a 5 billion pound business.
Something few fans give credit for.
The football dept will have a budget and I've yet to hear anyone complain they don't have enough money.
How that money is managed will be done at Anfield not Boston.
Wat is taking Liverpool so long to give sala a new contract bec without sala Liverpool will struggle bec sala helps Liverpool to keep a clean sheet and score goals Liverpool give a 2 year contract bec wat sala does on the pitch no player will do bec of age he players like a 20 year old with speed and assets
7:50 that was a shot. Stop hyping. Give him 4 years and sell to saudi after two. Get money you paid in salary when sold to saudi
I like it but, Mo can say no don't want to go
@seth1455 then there is no real point salah saying. We did fine when he was awol during afon. We didnt lose a game, and we got some great goals from the right from players with the ability to put laces through the ball
@@southernrealist5789 if it was up to me I'd let Mo go, replace with Semenyo and also Marmoush in the centre,
Sell Jota.
@@seth1455 I like jota, just spends more time injured than playing
Unrelated, but when I time comes I hope we’re in for Nkunku when Chelsea look to sell
He has a bit of Suarez about him, I'd buy him.
FSG OUT they drove Klopp into the ground dealing with pennies.Klopp and the team would have won more if FSG just backed him
