With Pelé, Ronaldo, Romario, Neymar etc you’re probably right. But Netherlands isn’t far off with Cruijff, Van Basten, Gullit, Bergkamp, Van Nistelrooy, Robben. Brazil has the most, the list just goes on, but in terms of quality of the best, it’s pretty close.

Rodri has papered over City's issues over the last couple of seasons. They have been able to do whatever they want ahead of him because he was so dominant, but without him, the lack of legs and aggression in midfield as well as the lack of pressing from Haaland has got them into this position. But, how can they recruit a top level DM when they know Rodri will come back at some point. They aren't going to play with two. There is also the question of Guardiola leaving in the near future and the 115. City are in a tricky spot. They have Gundogan, Walker, De Bruyne, Ederson, Kovacic, Stones and Silva the wrong side of 30. Ake, Grealish and Akanji are 29. Maybe Kane had a better career than Vardy. But when they’re both retired, who do you think looks back on his career more satisfied? Because I think that’s definitely Vardy.
@ I know, but he would have to win at least the Bundesliga and a CL to be more satisfied with his career than Vardy, who was the main man during the biggest miracle in football history. He’s way more satisfied than Kane right now, trust me.
@@bartderuiter3509I understand the Vardy argument but I think you don't consider the international career element, 69 international goals, 15 goals at major tournaments, more WC/EC knockout round goals than any other European player in history, I don't think you swap that for Vardy's premier league and FA cup medals.
@ I think Kane would definitely swap that for some trophies with Spurs. Those goals are great, very good numbers, but at the end he has nothing to show for it. And I also made that comment based on talent. With his talent compared to Vardy’s talent, I think Vardy got way more out of his career than Kane did. Losing two Euro finals vs winning a Premier League and FA Cup? Come on. Even a striker would swap all those goals for a title with the team.
Best position's by country: Goalkeepers: Tough but I'd maybe say Germany (Neuer, Khan, Ter-Stegan, Lehmann, Maier) Defenders: Obviously Italy (Cannavaro, Maldini, Bonucci, Chiellini, Baresi, Zambrotta, Nesta,) Midfield: It would be Spain off their 2010 squad alone (Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Xabi Alonso, David Silva, Mata, Fabregas, Rodri, Guardiola, Luis Suarez, Enrique) Forwards: Easily Brazil (R9, Pele, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Kaka, Neymar, Jairzinho, Romario, Zico)
Whatever sophisticated tactics or superplayers any team will come up with, the rival teams will catch up! The seldom mentioned threat, that all big teams have, is video analysts. After a few seasons rival coaches will know how to cancel out new inventions or tricks. Pep and Klopp held their top positions longer than expected, which gives them great cred. But in the long run it evens out. Arsenal's captain Ödegaard is so good and versatile, he can still surprise some teams, but it's getting harder each season.
3 ex-pros (2 greats of the game) picking Gerrard as the greatest Prem midfielder but we're supposed to listen to random mancs on twitter telling us Scholes is better coz he's good at long passes 😭
Shearer one of the premier leagues greatest players. Zidane and xavi 2 greats that know naff all about the premier league. I know who's opinion matters@markoradulovic3307
I like Paul Scholes as a person and a player but even he thinks Gerrard was a more complete midfielder, Utd would of won more trophies with Gerrard as a part of that team, alongside Scholes.
Vardy > Kane Absolutely no conversation! The question was “who has had a better career”. Kane had to run off to a 1 team league to finally win something, and he even failed at that in his first year!
Alan:"Keep up with the youngsters,Gazz!Come on!" Few seconds later: Micah:"So,what sort of fantasies do you like,Gary?" Alan:"You can't ask an old man that."🤣🤣🤣
Micah saying Game of Thrones...did he watch the end? Christ😂. Surely they've watched Breaking Bad? Absolutely nothing like it before or since....well Better Call Saul was amazing too
I'd have to go Vardy for the better "career". But I suppose Lineker and Shearer are quite similar in terms of a high quality striker who didn't win as many trophies as they should have, but a fair amount of individual awards. So they probably don't rate someone's career the same way the rest of us would
I think they dodged the question. Nobody is saying Vardy is a better player than Kane, but you could argue he's had a more successful career when you look at his winners' medals. Even if Kane does win the German,, that ranks way behind and English title, and probably even behind the FA Cup

They are reserved to talk shit and rightfully so considering that there is still 5-6 months of the season and EVERYTHING to play for
@ I’m not even talking about their form. I mean all the stuff outside of the actual football. Gary & Alan had no problem calling out other injustices like the super league, Quatar WC, but haven’t taken a stance on the 115 charges, because they can’t discuss that stuff with Micah around. It’s a form of censorship & it’s taking away from the pod
Yesterday I happened to watch Bend It Like Beckham for old times sake, and noticed a cameo from Gary Linekar (and my favourite pundit ever, Alan Hansen). Did you enjoy being part of a cult classic film and do you think we should have more football movies like that on the big screen? We don’t see many sports movies these days, especially British productions.
I will start Gerrard as well, bench De Bryne and sell Viera. Steve was so good that the Konami guys gave him 18/20 and 17/20 for Attack and Defence. Imagine having 11 Gerrards in a team on the pitch, the team can win you trophies 😂😂. He's that good

Best defender used to came from Italy but right now it's actually from Netherland, Van Dijk, De Ligt, De Vrij, Timber, Dumfries, Van De Ven, Ake are top class defenders, perhaps because modern defender are no longer about defending ability but their ability on the ball as well.

Mo is a great player but Stevie is a whole different level… remember Mo has consistently played in top Liverpool teams while Stevie had to carry very average Liverpool teams.. Stevie was a one off
Different mentality and way we lived back then !! One of the best strikers ever being Alan 10 times better than any striker in prem now !!! I find it really interesting how Gerrard is always talked about as the best player. I understand he had all the attributes and was a complete footballer but he didn't deliver on the international stage whilst often being outclassed in midfield. Whether it was by Pirlo in 2012/2014, Ozil in 2010 or Modric in 2007. Not to mention his huge errors gifting goals against France in 2004 and Uruguay in 2014. He was obviously an elite performer in the Premier League over a number of years but can he really be elevated above other elite performers who also won the league multiple times such as David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne or even Frank Lampard?
Gerrard never had great team he could play anywhere stepped in big games 2006 was very good 2010 but other players didn't try 14 his legs was gone was never dm
@@andrewwright4195 Sure he had some good games but nothing to be called the best. Legs were gone in 2010 at the age of 30? I'm sure the other players did try just underperformed.
Agreed with gerrard starting
It was pretty clear tbh :)
MC are missing Rodri - critical to their shape - oh and please do a piece on the viral Brest moment epic Micah 😂
Best position's by country:
Goalkeepers: Tough but I'd maybe say Germany (Neuer, Khan, Ter-Stegan, Lehmann, Maier)
Defenders: Obviously Italy (Cannavaro, Maldini, Bonucci, Chiellini, Baresi, Zambrotta, Nesta,)
Midfield: It would be Spain off their 2010 squad alone (Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Xabi Alonso, David Silva, Mata, Fabregas, Rodri, Guardiola, Luis Suarez, Enrique)
Forwards: Easily Brazil (R9, Pele, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Kaka, Neymar, Jairzinho, Romario, Zico)
@ the other Luis Suarez
City’s injuries have had a huge impact on the team, but I also think they have been rumbled. Jan transfer window is going to be hugely important
Succession and Slow Horses are two of the great shouts
First season of True Detective is all you need. Matthew Mcconaughey and Woody Harrelson. You can binge it Alan. 8 episodes.
Best episode of the week unfiltered opinions. N man city watchagain nxt 2 Yr jst pep re build defo.
As a Liverpool fan, I'd say selling Palmer to Chelsea was a disastrous move by City.
Young man’s banter😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brilliant episode.
I’m glad former players, including ex United players are coming out and giving Gerrard the credit he deserves.
"in leeds yeah" 😂😂 absolutely brilliant
i love you guys, you are all so funny :D
Micah screaming Now we cooking Ol Gaz had me in stitches
3 ex-pros (2 greats of the game) picking Gerrard as the greatest Prem midfielder but we're supposed to listen to random mancs on twitter telling us Scholes is better coz he's good at long passes 😭
Zidane and Xavi said Scholes is the best, ill take their word on the matter
Shearer one of the premier leagues greatest players.
Zidane and xavi 2 greats that know naff all about the premier league.
I know who's opinion matters@markoradulovic3307
I like Paul Scholes as a person and a player but even he thinks Gerrard was a more complete midfielder, Utd would of won more trophies with Gerrard as a part of that team, alongside Scholes.
@markoradulovic3307 he also said gerrard was best player in the world for 5 years
Totally didn’t answer whether Kane or Vardy had the better career.
Brilliant show ❤
Vardy > Kane
Absolutely no conversation! The question was “who has had a better career”. Kane had to run off to a 1 team league to finally win something, and he even failed at that in his first year!
THIS. 👏👏I was hoping somebody else would have mentioned this as well. Question was “better career” not a “better player”.
Alan:"Keep up with the youngsters,Gazz!Come on!"
Few seconds later:
Micah:"So,what sort of fantasies do you like,Gary?"
Alan:"You can't ask an old man that."🤣🤣🤣
Micah saying Game of Thrones...did he watch the end?
No player in this era is going even close to Alan Shearer record, phenomenal player plus he done it with an average team
Canadian here. What do you guys think of ted lasso. I find it funny but I'm canadian. We've had legal lettuce for years so my tv choices may not be as good.😅
Love Slow Horses Gary!
You three are funny af 🤣⛳
It kind of sucks that you guys have to always hold your tongue about City as long as Micah is an ambassador, but it is what it is 🤷♂️
R u serious⁉️ they r gaslighting‼️🙄 u r just another jealous hater of city 🌃
@@blueshadow62no one is jealous of cheaters mate i can tell you that
@BeJaminYeh Innocent until proven guilty
Brother honestly what do you want them to say... haha you won 6 games in a row!! That's the total amount of games they lost on the past 6 years as well bro. Haha you guys won a treble last year and multiple but you're 5th in the worst season of all time, with potential to still win anything.
Two best TV series: Luthor; and Line of Duty!!!
this show is absolutely the best at what they do a great trio
I remember Micah dropping the F-bomb as a young player in an interview
Yesterday I happened to watch Bend It Like Beckham for old times sake, and noticed a cameo from Gary Linekar (and my favourite pundit ever, Alan Hansen). Did you enjoy being part of a cult classic film and do you think we should have more football movies like that on the big screen? We don’t see many sports movies these days, especially British productions.
I have the beeping countdown sound from the 24 adverts embedded in my brain but never watched it
I will start Gerrard as well, bench De Bryne and sell Viera.
Steve was so good that the Konami guys gave him 18/20 and 17/20 for Attack and Defence.
Imagine having 11 Gerrards in a team on the pitch, the team can win you trophies 😂😂. He's that good
He is a great intellect is our Micah. Ffsake lol
I'm really confused I thought this show was about football ... ok it is mentioned , but then we have a series of comedic interludes.
To be clear this is not a complaint.
Possibly the only football show that alludes to genius and IQ.
Micah ... EQ is a better measure of your valued contribution.
Taffarel & Dida were monster goalies for Brazil
Brilliant episode!
I feel like they should rename this podcast: "STOP SITTING ON THE FENCE!" 😂
Best defender used to came from Italy but right now it's actually from Netherland, Van Dijk, De Ligt, De Vrij, Timber, Dumfries, Van De Ven, Ake are top class defenders, perhaps because modern defender are no longer about defending ability but their ability on the ball as well.
and Van Hecke, Sep van de Berg, Frimpong.
You have some Gen Z people who honestly believe that salah is better than Gerrard.. I had to check what I was hearing. Mo is a great player but Stevie is a whole different level… remember Mo has consistently played in top Liverpool teams while Stevie had to carry very average Liverpool teams.. Stevie was a one off
How do we ask a question?
Micah down with the kids citing prison break and breaking bad🤣
Context. I was a holiday camp band leader when Alan started and my pay was same as his.
"Magic roundabout" 😂😂😂😂
Love that Gary loves succession, incredibly funny show - is that the reason he's never worked for Sky?
Different mentality and way we lived back then !! One of the best strikers ever being Alan 10 times better than any striker in prem now !!! By far and he scored a hatrick and made to do graft day after on the training pitch and treated like a human on low wages where now they are over payed over rated and don't do anything at all
4 years Shaw been injured all together and made a killing
Gerrard still in debates for all time XI for midfielders and never won the prem! my captain!! the best midfielder ever in the prem!!
love the work
Oscar Bobb was the Alvarez replacement. His injury may be a big factor..
A top manager didn't see him playing in the middle, preferring Barry and Lampard there to him. Potentially the same reason as what Rafa said on the Overlap about him lacking the tactical knowledge/discipline.
@@rugbyanalyst1 ac Milian match was the best performance of a player in career 4 different positions to drag liverpool best captain matches football seen
@@rugbyanalyst1 only player to score in every major final if kane world class then gerrard is a king 🤣
@@andrewwright4195 AC Milian? lol. Yes a fantastic performance, I'm not disputing his top games for Liverpool.
I'd take Vardy's career over Kane's every day of the week. Such a Roy of the Rovers story.
Alan if you loved Kin that much check out Love Hate its similar set in Dublin but much better
Trust dopey Micah's top two shows to be Prison Break and Game of Thrones lol.
