I put these on my 2010 Honda Pilot about 8 or 9 months ago. They are great. Very quiet. No warping. No brake pad dust. I should have switched a long time ago. Highly recommend.
Just bought these for my wife's Pilot, after the auto parts store couldn't turn the rears, due to them being so warped (just replaced them less than two years ago). I'm glad to hear these are working good for folks!
There's something very satisfying about doing your own brakes. And as many times as I've done that, I still learned a lot from the video. Thanks!
Great video. Those rotor retaining screws are not Philips but “JIS” (Japanese Industrial Standard). There is a special JIS style impact driver. Different “shoulders” on the head that would prevent the regular Philips from stripping
You need to watch South Main Auto Repair LLC to know how the Prows do it, grease does Not belong on top of the shims (Permatex 24125 Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant) and no grease on the slides Use silicone (3M 08946 Clear Silicone Paste) to prevent robber degradation. Good job on the tools needed info.
Ty for this video....educational as heck!
Thanks to you I can now replace my shocks and struts, replace new rotars and install my axels. Thanks bro. I have a 2011 Honda Pilot 2wd, would u recommend a 4wd version. I just have to learn to use a Torque wrench now lol, and buy a repair Manual plus tools 😂 oh well. Beats thousands at a dealership.
Absolutely my friend…that’s awesome
Piliots are notorious for warp rotors as I own one myself definitely buying these very soon
You’re absolutely right
TY FOR EXPLAINING THIS FACTOR ON BRAKE ISSUES
Great work my friend!
Very informative video. Question: For slotted rotors, does it make a difference as to what direction the slots are facing?
No there’s no specific position on these rotors. Ty for your feedback
The rear rotors were put on the wrong wheels. L on R and R on L. Compare with front wheels where the slots and holes trail out.
Any updates on if this solved the warping issue?
Awesome content jack!
Is the same on an Acura MDX?
Very informative jack, ty
Thanks for making this video and sharing. I subbed your channel. I am looking to do the shock and brakes on my 2015 pilot as well. Did you notice a BIG improvement in the ride after the shocks? Also did you notice a BIG improvement in the braking with the upgraded brakes and rotors?
im so happy i found your channel.
I travel mountain roads often, regular stock rotors last about a year on my 2003 Subaru, changed out to slotted and drilled rotors about 3 years ago. No more warped rotors and still have good brakes at the foot of the mountain.
Are these rotors the same for all models?
Jack. what is the life on these rotors? how long do you think they will last, I was told tha the slots take away the life of the pads, but the drill holes do keep it cool. I want use the
rotors, i was just wondering how long will they last to a set that has drill holes only?
Thank you, you really saved me time and money!!
Absolutely…that’s why I do these videos.
I saw in the video you didnt have the springs for the brake pads that separate them from the rotor
19:54 I see the wire clips/springs weren't replaced along with the brake hardware. Are they not necessary? I dropped mine on the ground when I took out the old hardware and I cannot find them fornthevlife of me. And my new brake hardware don't include them.
I wouldn't press my luck using any auto part from Detroit......I'd stick with a higher quality, either OEM or something like Aisin/Advics rotors with akebono pads.
Did this end up helping with the shaking thinking of purchasing one of these has 170k miles so what’s your thoughts
Yes absolutely it did….Honda pilots are great vehicles and easy to work on. Let me ask you…. Does the vehicle shake when braking? Or during acceleration?
@@Gasdieselgarage that’s awesome but I ended up getting a 2005 Honda Pilot and it kinda does have a sluggish start n a shaky stop hopefully the rotors I ordered help with the braking issue
What’s next a supercharger?
Didnt you have to put the spring back on the front pads?
awesome bro
Where can i buy those rotors? Thank you
Click on the the link on the 1st line of the description. It will take you right to the rotors
Next he’s gonna put a lift kit on it ...😂
How to change the door sealing
WHATS NEXT FOR THE PILOT?
Who they heck wants to hook a Honda Pilot up with cross drilled rotors. Looks terrible!
You did not install the clips that pull out the brake pads, those help with eliminating brake noise, and you did not show anything to do with the drum parking brakes. This is an ok video, subpar.
