the difference is if she is a fake pacifist nobody would know, anyone can call themselves an anything-ist. While an mma fighter is a real job that people can check that you actually do.
Pacifist are usually cowards AND weak. That's generally who they are. Women tend to be this way because they are not that good at it and are more inclined to find protection through the tribe. That's the way they are so anything remotely associated with it they avoid. That is why women should stay out of that world.
I think its more to do with the fact that he has done hard work his whole life. Not to say she hasn't but still to reach his level takes much more effort and you can see it in the way he speaks and what he has been doing. He just feels more real and aware I guess.
This woman is an utter sociopath. She had zero interest in viewing Nathaniel as anything but a mindless monster. Even after 25 minutes of him being the sweetest, most gracious little chap, she'd still narrow her eyes and condescendingly imply that there was no merit to his lifestyle. It was very telling that they discussed charity, and Nate had a laundry list of charitable contributions to his community and the world as a whole, while she was focused on being charitable to "her inner self". Weaponized ignorance and casual cruelty aren't pacifist traits.
What she's doing is psychologically referred to as "active projection" she's felt helpless in her life before and holds anger about it, likely violence or intimidation from physical harm and so she's projected this onto anybody who does something she considers violent.

She comes off extremely judgmental. She does not seem very openminded at all. As she said in her own words, "She lives in her own world." She also goes on to explain how she couldn't understand someone being upset over a pet dying until she got a cat. She does not have empathy (an anti-judgement trait). She could only have sympathy after experiencing having a cat.

I don't think I completely agree, because while I love combat sports, I've definitely been in the position where I questioned what it's really all about. There's really nothing inherently wrong with worrying about the fighters, and thinking there could be some issues, and in the end she did change her mind on combat sports. Just not quite on the fans, but considering people like Dana White exist, I'd say it's fair to be critical.

There's also the fact that allusions to animal fighting is flawed because they don't have a choice, and her desire to reduce injuries in fighting would require her to be even more against something like American football, or rugby, because the instances of lasting injuries or even death are considerably higher. In fact, Nathaniel messed his numbers when it comes to ufc fatalities, it's not that the ufc has considerably fewer fatalities than boxing and football, it has INFINITELY FEWER FATALITIES because the ufc has NEVER had a death inside the octagon, or even immediately after, the closest thing to a fatality would be someone dying from a weight cut, and i can't even think of an example for that.

Wtf, she was very polite and willing to re-think her feelings about fighters. Both of them were endearingly self-deprecating and humble. The point of this was to voice differing opinions and reach some understanding of each other, particularly her understanding Nathaniel. This would be ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS if she wasn't willing to put into words how she subconsiously feels about it. It was very important for her to be polite yet adamant about the parts she CAN'T relate to, because these are thoughts and perspectives that are widely held in society. She went out on a limb, knowing she might look stupid and didn't know what she was talking about, to allow for him to ANSWER many questions and thoughts held by similarly uneducated viewers. That kind of willingness should be applauded even if you don't like someone as a person. It is productive toward the goal of greater understanding and less ignorance about the nature of MMA. Look, most people feel the way she feels about MMA when they see it the first time. Most people go through similar uncertainty, at least in the back of their minds. Nathan is so intelligent and articulate with his words. One of the best guys i have heard who have clawed with their words in an uphill battle with someone who does not want to change their opinion and succeeded. Always be weary of someone who labels themselves as a pacifist, I don't think there's a single person in the world who wouldn't use violence in some form if they were under a legitimate violent threat against them. I'm pretty sure most people are "pacifist" in the sense that they're not seeking out violence just for fun, or malicious intent. If you feel the need to tell people you're a normal person, you're probably not a normal person.

I really like this interview. Shows the different worlds between people who engage in the world every day and are regularly evaluating their perspective of the world due to struggle versus people who live in what's given to them with little or no struggle and who are happy to be in that state of being until they expire.
As a semi-casual UFC fan I've actually never even heard of Nathaniel Wood. What an absolute wholesome soul this man is. Every answer he gave was respectful, every viewpoint was sound. This man is such a beautiful soul through and through. I cannot express my respect I just gained from a 20 min video, I wish this man nothing but the best and I will now follow his journey. Probably the most wholesome soul I have ever seen in a 20 min video. AND he is a Christian. Beautiful soul. I will watch his career with enthuasim and a newfound respect.

How is it as a so called good dancer, she cannot see the connection, a talented fighter is in tune with his body, has rhythm and control and athleticism. This woman is an utter sociopath. She had zero interest in viewing Nathaniel as anything but a mindless monster. Even after 25 minutes of him being the sweetest, most gracious little chap, she'd still narrow her eyes and condescendingly imply that there was no merit to his lifestyle. It was very telling that they discussed charity, and Nate had a laundry list of charitable contributions to his community and the world as a whole, while she was focused on being charitable to "her inner self". Weaponized ignorance and casual cruelty aren't pacifist traits.
What she's doing is psychologically referred to as "active projection" she's felt helpless in her life before and holds anger about it, likely violence or intimidation from physical harm and so she's projected this onto anybody who does something she considers violent.

There's really nothing inherently wrong with worrying about the fighters, and thinking there could be some issues, and in the end she did change her mind on combat sports. Just not quite on the fans, but considering people like Dana White exist, I'd say it's fair to be critical.

The point of this was to voice differing opinions and reach some understanding of each other, particularly her understanding Nathaniel.
This would be ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS if she wasn't willing to put into words how she subconsiously feels about it. It was very important for her to be polite yet adamant about the parts she CAN'T relate to, because these are thoughts and perspectives that are widely held in society.
She went out on a limb, knowing she might look stupid and didn't know what she was talking about, to allow for him to ANSWER many questions and thoughts held by similarly uneducated viewers.
That kind of willingness should be applauded even if you don't like someone as a person. It is productive toward the goal of greater understanding and less ignorance about the nature of MMA.

Always be weary of someone who labels themselves as a pacifist, I don't think there's a single person in the world who wouldn't use violence in some form if they were under a legitimate violent threat against them. I'm pretty sure most people are "pacifist" in the sense that they're not seeking out violence just for fun, or malicious intent. If you feel the need to tell people you're a normal person, you're probably not a normal person.
the funny thing about pacifists is, when they practice their pacifism in the face of injustice and violence against the innocent and helpless, they are siding with the perpetrators of injustice and violence. You don't love anyone if you won't fight for anyone.

I really like this interview. Shows the different worlds between people who engage in the world every day and are regularly evaluating their perspective of the world due to struggle versus people who live in what's given to them with little or no struggle and who are happy to be in that state of being until they expire.
As a semi-casual UFC fan I've actually never even heard of Nathaniel Wood. What an absolute wholesome soul this man is. Every answer he gave was respectful, every viewpoint was sound. This man is such a beautiful soul through and through. I cannot express my respect I just gained from a 20 min video, I wish this man nothing but the best and I will now follow his journey. Probably the most wholesome soul I have ever seen in a 20 min video. AND he is a Christian. Beautiful soul. I will watch his career with enthuasim and a newfound respect.

This lady, like many pacificists, doesn't understand violence. She doesn't know how to separate play, competition, and murder. So she sees it all as murder and all fighters as bloodthirsty murders. I'm not the least surprised she's never been in a fight and assume was never really allowed to rough house.
Fighting is more appealing to boys largely, as boys have more testosterone.
