I've recently built a Q1 and i have to say it's a great board. I built it with gateron cj switches and some DSA keycaps. I personally felt the sound was a bit too hollow and metallic, which i fixed by doing a tape mod. The spacebar still sounded a bit clacky to me, which i tried fixing with lots of different foams and mods but what ended up helping was hand lubing the switch on the spacebar, now it's actually amazing. What really elevates this board over most other custom keyboard kits is availability and the amount of different layouts you can get this board with. For me it's actually painful to watch all these keyboard UA-camrs talk about how great xyz keyboard kit is, then look it up and find out it's either some group buy and/or just not available in an ISO layout, which i need to fit normal german keycaps. TLDR the Q1 is both an amazing value pre built board as well as one of the best and accessible ways to enter the custom keyboard hobby
As someone who is not big in this space but just wanted a really nice keyboard the Keychron q1 has been a phenomenal experience and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase
Got the K10 for work for use with laptop but looking at swapping out for a K8 pro and then swap my k70 i use on main rig at home with the k10, thats how impressed i have been with Keychron. Might try one of the Filco TLK's for work but think the k8 would be the better bet; will see might get both and complete retire the k70 to backup :D
Got the wrist rest too, like you said its not expensive at all. Bought from a UK company; keyboardco, so that's another option if you want to buy it. One of the things i like with the k70 is the textured keys for WSAD and spacebar, i've not seen the spacebar for sale on its own, something for me to look into.
I'm not very sure we have the same idea of "refined quiet sound". But the keyboard seems pretty nice for the price though I'd probably get quieter switches.
I got both K8 Pro and K3 Pro on their Kickstarters, I love em. Keychron is putting more value into ~$100 keyboards than anybody.
