I'm pretty sure, they were both born as alicorns. There was this book called "The journal of two sisters" (Pretty sure It's canon) in which Luna mentioned something about alicorns aging slower, so despite her and Celestia being older than other ponies, they didn't have their cutie marks yet. It wouldn't make sense for them to become alicorns before they even got their cutie marks, nor would it make sense for Celestia's talent to be raising the sun, if she was a pegasus, so the only way they could be alicorns back then, was if they were born like that
If they were born as alicorns, then why would Celestia say during Flurry's birth that Flurry was the first born alicorn? It would be mostly natural if Queen Galaxia and King Cosmos were alicorns, and Celestia and Luna had no choice but to be born alicorns, but Queen Galaxia and King Cosmos are more likely to be fan made characters. But if Twilight did ask Celestia and Luna about their parents, or what type of pony they were at birth, then........ What would Celestia or Luna say? Would they keep it as a secret? Or would they tell? Do you have any guesses?
@@TundraKD5263 I've honestly no Idea who Queen Galaxia and King Cosmos are, never heard of them from comics or books, so they're most likely just fan-made characters. The whole Flurry Heart thing is actually quite confusing. The only explanation for it would be that the sisters are keeping their birth information a secret. In G5 there was this fire alicorn, who grew up among Luna and Celestia, and they were all alicorns as fillies, so that also kinda confirms that they were born as alicorns. It could also be that there was some kind of alicorn city or something that got destroyed (There's actually a fan animation for that called "The beginning of harmony" by Minty Root) and they're just keeping that city a secret. If the sisters are keeping something like that a secret, they would probably not tell Twilight even if she asked them personally, as that would be more than a thousand year old secret, and not really necessary for her to know anyway.

If they said Flurry heart was first born alicorn and Celestia and Luna were born alicorns, then either your prediction was correct or maybe when they were young, they didn't notice they were born alicorns.
