Einfach wunderbar!
A very fine trio, and more Roentgen than Brahms I think. Many composers such as Roentgen took inspiration from others without compromising their originality. The 'andante' here is quite impressive in its originality; it caresses, almost as a lullaby; the rollicking allegros complement it nicely.
Hey Bartje it's again me, Samuel. I saw your response. I understand. I don't want to disturbe you. I know I could be a bit disturbing. If I'm for you, it's OK. But I just want you to save time thinking ideas for your videos. All of them could save a lot of time for you. 😢 And one question: how do you do your videos?
@@bartjebartmans It's not about Röntgen's skills. He is a competent composer. And it is also natural that composers follow exemplary compositions of their predecessors, also the great composers did this. However, you need to evolve from the model and make it your own. But this Trio is, mainly in the first but also in the third movement so much an imitation of Brahms not only in material but also in style that you ask yourself what Röntgen was thinking. That he is Johannes Brahms reborn?

Mooi werk. Aan goede componisten geen gebrek in Nederland. Bedankt voor dit te delen.

What a wonderful Piano Trio. Thank you for posting this.
Some Rontgen, thanks you so much!!
schön
Casals thought he was the finest composer of his time abd greatly lauded his cello concerto.
Rontgen and Casals were very close friends. They often performed and socialized together.

I really don't see what all the fuss is about this piano trio sounding like Brahms; to me, it sounds like an original composition!

delightfully chromatic music
The first movement is so obviously modelled after Brahms c-minor Trio it's ridicilous. Nice but entirely epigonal.
What is ridiculous about the fact Rontgen could write this? Explain! What are you bringing to the table?
