Love that the predator looked shocked when Harrigan grabbed the disc 😬
Its quite surprising that the Predator almost died so many times in this scene. That Desert Eagle would have dropped him with one shot if bird shot almost took him out the game. Then he screams for dear life when Harrigan tackles him off the roof. He's having such a bad day, he tries to suicide bomb the city. Then he almost dies again for the fourth time in this scene when Harrigan swipes half his arm off with his own murder weapon. Its funny, but shockingly dramatic because it never loses the serious tone and the creepiness despite the Predator is taking back to back Ls. The Predator almost died 5 times as soon as his cloaking field failed which shows just how ridiculously effective that cloaking field is.
If you think about it, the shoulder cannon is terrifying at a glance, but in reality its hardly better than a desert eagle if the cloaking field doesnt buy the Predator time to lock on thermal and charge a blast strong enough to punch through cover. In real life, every bullet would have smoked through that exhaust vent end the scenario right there.
Yeah, I don't know if it's canon or not, but I like to think that this particular Predator is a very young and inexperienced one. He makes SO many bad moves in this scene, and stuff that would normally go against the yautja's Code of the Hunt. For instance, he threw his spear, which normally is OK in the heat of battle, but then it looked like he was going to jump off the building, which meant that he was leaving his weapon behind, which is ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN, both because the yautja view it as a grave dishonor for a Predator to discard his weapons, but also because it runs the risk of yautja technology falling into alien hands, which the Predators will go to great lengths to prevent. Later, the Predator also leads Harrigan right back to the Predator ship as he flees, which is ANOTHER forbidden action. Honestly, if Harrigan hadn't killed the Predator, the others on the ship certainly would have for such shameful and embarrassing conduct while on a Hunt.

I had a cat in my childhood that fell from a second story window. She scrapped the wall as she was going down. She walked funny for a few days afterwards, but was fine after.
I love watching these clips brings back so many memories of all the nights we spent on rooftops of LA making this movie. I did the weapons in the Props in for a long time after I owned one of those discs, but I gave it to planet Hollywood years ago.

Tbh, it looked like they were trying to save money on this scene. When he pushes him over the edge, the camera didn't follow them. They just cut to another shot of them on the ledge.

Like when Keys was cut in half, they skipped making a prop for the upper half and just recorded the lower half hit the ground and moved on. For a movie so carefully detailed it's surprising but sometimes not all the piece fall in place and theres no time to get it right. I still give it pass, the movie is too good

i hated this as a kid, since movie quality has dropped to a all time low (and may never return) i might like parts of this movie now, but its still idiotic and poorly scripted, firstly how did a aging cop dodge a super fast spear? also predators are smart he threw his ONLY weapon at danny glover? THEN why did the predator have trouble climbing up the wall?? they are super beings, he slapped arnold schwarzennager around easily in pt1, also he chose THAT time to commit suicide?? Predator 1 was different he was mortally wounded
I think you're over estimating the predator's power. They're alien, but still made of flesh and blood. They're not bullet proof, don't have a Wolverine type healing factor and get tired over time. He took about 4 or 5 guns shots to the chest. I imagine that Predator are similar in strength to Captain America. Plus I think Predator's like this are usually young. They do this as a rite of passage. Danny Glover had wisdom and experience that the Predator may not have had.
