I refused to sell Wambugu apple business to a white man for 30M, today it’s worth billions | LNN

  • Today, one Wambugu apple tree makes him a cool Ksh.60,000 after an average production of 500 apples, 4 annual harvests, and a market price of Ksh.30 per apple.
But, the opposite would also be true
Had he sold the Wambugu Apple Concept to an investor over 10 years ago, he would be languishing in poverty and would not have been able to buy his four children large chunks of land
He however maintains without a shadow of a doubt, his wife is the reason he has come this far. Without her, there would be no Wambugu Apple
His daughter Kate will also talk to us extensively about the apple business in Kenya, the do’s and donts and why Wambugu Apple is putting Kenya on the map

30 million was a lot of money then!!!! Thank you, Papa Wambugu, for not selling your childrens' heritage for a bowl of lentils. Money is paper... what you have is wealth..land and good farming. And now many people are benefiting from this too. Huge respect 🙏🏿. Thanks, Lynn and LNN team, for bringing this amazing legendary man.

I love that Papa Wambugu gives all the glory to God and attributes all his knowledge to Him. Nations are coming to Him because he refused to sell his birthright like Esau. Lessons learned from this episode:
-Let God be glorified through your successes
-The hand that gives is the one that receives
-Find a smart spouse, work in one accord, and trust in God to fulfill what he promised

For me K.A.R.I takes the day for patenting the Apple for the wambugu’s. That really saved them. The idea of Wambugu going selling the apples and bringing all money home and all the family members would see their labor is a big lesson for accountability and motivation for the family members.

Kudos Lynn for focusing on agriculture as a source of wealth creation. We need to inspire the upcoming generation to stop seeing farming as a poor mans hobby. There is a looming shortage of agricultural specialists since it is being shunned by youth who prefer to pursue the new avenues available - social media and tech. Let the youth see such role models to believe that there is good money in agriculture if done right.

Papa Wambugu's strong belief in God is very evident and commendable. He believes that God gave him a vision in 1981* about him harvesting fruits and exporting them via an airport. He's also a humble man. God bless and keep him longer to share in this grace of prosperous farming of Wambugu Apple.

WAMBUGU HAD INFLUENCE ME TO REALISE HOW RICH A FARMER CAN BE.

Well, of all of your conversations, Lynn, this is the most inspiring. Wambugu is the real deal. The sequence of his life is very motivational. One thing I've noted with him is that God comes first. His is a success story both as an entrepreneur and a parent. I suggest that they write a book

Wambugu : "God.... God... God... " not a single sentence without God,that's a true man of God,a role model to many,a good example of what God can do if you put your trust in Him... Every man as a head of the family should raise his family to be that God fearing like Mr Wambugu is.It takes a real dad to raise a daughter who after thinking for a long time, the best example she could find in her mind was "giving Jesus freely"

This is the fulfillment of Deuteronomy Chapter 8 verse 18 where God says "HE shall give us the power to create wealth" power to create wealth does not mean being born with a silver spoon like being born in the Royal Family automatically making someone royalty it means God will give us wisdom, ideas, creativity & even good health so we can work hard & He''ll bless the work of our hands making us prosperous.
