    Just some feedback with a nod towards making tutorials more useful, don't just show what you are doing, but also explain why you are doing it, and what the process does so people can learn instead of just copying. For example, when clicking on something like a script, briefly explain why you are using that script and what it does. Excellent content.

    I think I missed a few steps, Why the 4 folders?, which pictures do you put where? How does the program know what to look for? So many questions it seems you started in the middle of the process.

      @@davinVeee that doesn't really answer my question but thank you.

      Exactly! And how to get the dark etc files? No-one tells you as a beginner. I still don't know....

    Not needed to copy the images to the pictures folder. Just click the house button and set the home directory to where your folders are and the script will be run in that folder.

      That is right. Thanks for highlighting this. The reason why I omitted this information was for the sake of clarity for beginners.

    Thanks for the information on Siril stacking. I use Siril and Gimp to process my images. Currently I use DSS for my stacking. I will be looking forward to more tutorials on Siril.

    Wow works great with nothing but a "lights" folder with .jpg's from my phone camera on a tripod for playing with "wide field"! Make sure to set Siril's "Home" folder to the one containing the "lights". Thanks!

    As a beginner I need to know how do I start from a series of jpeg files? How do I convert and input the files? I'm stuck on the first step which nobody tells you how to do because they assume you already know.

    Thank you. Very simple. Very clear. I'm looking forward to your next video on working with just lights. BTW, I used your tutorial on star reduction using SIRIL and had good results.

      I don't have biases either, nor flats. Probably should have made them at the time but I didn't. So now what?

    How do you do this manually, I am getting errors everywhere? I can't find a succinct tutorial online and the instructions are not at all helpful. I'm about to give-up.

      Have you tried BorealisLite's complete manual image processing tutorial? It might be of help? unfortunately, I have not yet got around to make a video to do this manually. What errors are you getting?

    You show both stacking with and without flats, bias and darks in your videos but my camera system produces master flats, master bias and master darks automatically (ASIAIR). When i have these in the folders SiriL scripts falls over. I guess the scripts expect the separate individual flats etc or not at all. Do you have a way to stack using the scripts with just the master files? I can do it manually but would be great to just use a script?

    • @AstroOnbudget
      @AstroOnbudget  Рік тому

      Unfortunately master files don't work with Siril :( sorry 😔

    Nice simple video. I have a noob question.
    So you said, "it's rejecting stacking" does this mean Siril removes bad subs (clouds, satellites etc..) or is this a process I have to do manually prior to stacking?
    Thanks

    • @AstroOnbudget
      @AstroOnbudget  Рік тому

      A great question. Well it removes the bad subs automatically by default.

    I use a CMOS and do not shoot bias calibration frames. Is there a way to stack with Siril without just the bias frames? Siril will not let me "ignor" bias frames.

    It would be great to explain the steps BEFORE running the script. It kind of renders the tutorial useless...
