Grumpy Glen for the win! I might have to do this later in the week, sounds like a great idea!
I'll watch that video Larry.
Quit sucking up Marcia..@@marciap-vc
I will look forward to your response..
Glad to hear you're not going anywhere! Still hurts that you don't have Pet Sounds, but I don't have Hendrix so I get it. I'm with you, I want the killer and no filler.
You get Electric Ladyland and I will get Pet Sounds
I feel the same as you about most of these questions. I'm trying to keep my collection manageable, I listen to any format that works for the situation - vinyl is my preference at home when I want to sit and listen intently, but I listen to CD and digital too (and even cassettes!). I'm only completist for a very small number of artists. I don't care what's considered good or "classic" - I just have music that I like. And as time goes on I focus more on what I have than what I don't have, but I still can't help being on the lookout for something new!
Happy new year! Thanks for all the great videos this year
Arturo..you are awesome..I so appreciate you and we seem to have the same musical minds..whether that is good or bad…lol..Happy New Year..❤❤glen
Hi Glen!!! Great response to this very cool thread, some questions are very good and makes you think about things...... in life, music collections and other stuff. Btw so cool to see grumpy Glen back again, you know the cool dude who's not a snob. cheers and be well
Thanks Glen, these were great responses. I think the best thing I took out of this was "don't be a snob". Such a true statement. I agree that it's cool that this person loves this or that, but don't shit on others if their ideas on this or that are different from yours. I've loved hearing everyone's opinions, experiences and how they see themselves with this whole collecting thing. I am the same with lists and several carts on lots of different websites brimming with future purchases...it never ends! Another good point you make is the same for me. Because of playing music and collecting music, the amount of friends I've made and people I've met has been so cool. Cheers mate...Ben
Hi Glen, very interesting point of view. I almost gave the same answer to the "completist" question. Happy New Year, this video is the very 1st one that I am watching and giving a comment to in 2024
Good video! I think we’d all like to think we have the best collection and if you’re happy with the stuff you have you do have the best!!!!
Totally agree..Happy New Year Dave and a big thank you for your involvement..I always look forward to your comments👍❤glen
Great answers Glen!
Thank you..Never heard that ever…when I was in school..
Thank you for the shout out. That is muchly appreciated. This is an awesome thread. Love all your answers
No probs Tony..it was interesting..
you should give tours to raise money for more vinyl/cd's ! great basement of sound
The Basement..A Tourist Attraction..Why didn't I think of that..Meet and Greets extra..
Great video idea. I too have a full cart on Amazon for buy later.
It never ends…..
Great response!
Thanks Jack
I was thinking about doing this video but my answers are so similar to yours I might skip it, lol. Except the retirement, sadly I'm still part of the daily grind.
You gotta do it..I insist..see you tomorrow..
I agree with a lot of your answers. The only differences is:
1. "About different formats?" I just stick with CDs, I would love Vinyl, but there is too much to get into.
2. "What happens to my collection when I die?" It has to go to someone who will appreciate it more than I do or be donated to a library and archived. I'd prefer it to be paid forward and kept alive somehow.
Here's to a better year in 2024! Keep it rockin'!
You are a generous soul Morris
grumpy Glen is my favorite Glen!
lol…not if you lived with me…Happy New Year ❤❤❤❤
Several questions not asked: 1.) When did you start collecting records? 2.) About how many purchases over the years of any format have you made? 3.) Do have most of that? 4.) Are you surprised with the vinyl revival?
My answers to those questions: 1.) 1970. 2.) Perhaps about 10,000. 3.) No, I got rid of most of my collection over the years. Right now I've got about 1k of CDs, 15 LP titles and 2 pre-recorded cassettes plus 10 other traded cassettes. 4.) Yes I am very much surprised with the vinyl revival.
Good questions..And from your answers..you win👍❤
I never owned Pet Sounds until last year when I finally caved in after decades of hearing that it's the greatest album ever. I don't think it is!! It doesn't take up that much space so I guess I'll keep it. CDs at one quarter the price of the record assures sales of CDs.
Ben came up with some great questions.
I have owned Pet Sounds in the past..Actually not sure what happened to my CD..
The music matters, but your physical collection doesnt.
Because you can still hear 98% of the music without having the physical item.
And that's coming from someone who doesn't/has never streamed or listened to files on a computer, so no bias.
Hearing, seeing and holding are much different experiences though..
