Sweet video! Tip: change your tracking sensitivity time to less responsive (setting 1) and focus will lock on the eye and not refocus as the subject moves behind an object and then returns. thanks for the content and reviews! Cheers from Arkansas.
Thanks buddy, cool intro thanks to the amazing crew 💪 yeah im yet to put this up against the Atomos, but all the SSDs and 1000nit screen really scares me off.
Another good video Toms!🔥 little off topic, would you still suggest an a6000 as beginner as I’m finding can pick up some used a7 series as they are full frame cameras for the same price. (eg. A7R)
Thank you buddy! Honestly, if it was me I would not go with Full Frame cameras, the lenses are very expensive and cameras too. Instead, I would invest my budget into a newer APS-C camera and have APS-C lenses. I thing as a beginner, you get so much more out of it. Get a6000 with a nice lens or if your budget allows, a6100/a6400. ZV-E10 is also a good alternative (although its missing EVF). With Full Frame, you will overpay for the things you can't fully utilize as a beginner. A newer APS-C camera is better than older FF camera in my opinion.
Great video, mate. WHat about overheating issue? Considering I am recording externally (in the SHimbol monitor) will I still have problem about it ?Because I saw that Atomos Ninja V solve this problem (but it uses a exclusive and exénsive solid drive)...same happen with this Shimbol Pro even usin a Micro SD? I mean...Can Shimbo solve the camera overheating issue once i am recording on its micro sd? Tks!
Thanks buddy! I recorded a loot of footage and had no problems of overheating. I think it’s because it records only 1080p. Atomos records RAW and 4K, so you shouldn’t have any problems with Shimbol
Exactly, I was shooting 4K60 and monitor easily can display it. This 4K60 gets recorded in the camera, but if I want to simultaneously record it also in the monitor, I can, but its gonna be 1080p.
Great video mate! 😊 Will you be getting your hands on the Sony A6700 by any chance? I'm thinking of getting one soon and would love to see a review done by you 🙂 Paired with a 24-70 f2.8 of course 😅
@@TomsJurjaks according to another youtuber there is a Final Cut issue where the audio is not displayed, but with other NLE there are no such a thing and the audio is there. Can you share a 5 min video recorded on the highest qualitty using the monitor/recorder please? Google drive or anything else. I'm planing to put the order now, but i need to be sure that the qualitty is good enough for backups. By the way, thank you for the fast response!
I edit in Premiere Pro, so cant comment on Final Cut @@SmartVideoBE but quality is good. The only thing where there is no audio is when you are in a photo mode. But for video mode you do get an audio and here is one sample from the shoot: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BpBjHfDBfpKwSUIY05phxw-bayR4ccA8?usp=drive_link
I agree. It also can’t record proRes etc, thats where atomos comes in. I see this device more like a monitor with simple recording capabilities (not for pro use but for EVF recording). Monitor as a field monitor definitely is a PRO, the recording is just an add-on in my opinion

Hey David, oh thats a really good tip, didn’t know that. Really useful 👌 cheers 🇺🇸
Such a cool intro to this video! Stoked to see an alternative to some of the major brands for these monitors.

This was a fun shoot man! Let’s do it again 😊
It sure was buddy! Thanks for all your help 💪
Does the unit record sound as I have seen a number of UA-cam video comments where people are saying their videos have no sound ?
can you start recording the monitor by touching the big red button on the bottom right of the screen?
$ 325 blackmagic vs this one non pro $279 / which one u suggest / thanks / Great video😊
If I went the SmallHD monitor route, what’s a way I can record externally so I can keep my camera from overheating as fast?
Thanks for the video! Does it have false colour?
It does yes. Basically it has all the features any other monitor would have but it has an amazing User Interface.

@@TomsJurjaks thanks 🙏 also with the ZV-E10 is it a big deal for photography that there is no viewfinder?

Sure will mate! This weekend gonna bring it out for a shoot already 💪 ive already tried it and honestly its amazing! It has all you need 👌
@@TomsJurjaks I'll be looking forward to this review!
@@TomsJurjaks awesome! I can't wait 😍
Can we use this monitor with sony 6000
Yes you can, you just need appropriate cable
is it true that it doesnt record audio on the sd card?
It is not true. Both the video and the audio gets recorded in SD card.

You lost me when you said it records at 1080p
If it would record 4K it would be THE best monitor 👌
@@TomsJurjaks Exactly; but because it doesn’t, it’s just another monitor.
