Ron its so great seeing how you treated that lady a lot of tow truck drivers can learn a lot from you. And thank you for not leaving her at side of road to fend for herself like I seen a lot of tow truck drivers do. God Bless you
Having watched lots of Ron's videos, I can say for sure that his care for customers is second to none - I have said it before, and I will say it again and again - Ron is a credit to his industry, and a credit to humanity. God bless Ron, and thanks for another great video.
++fulwell1: I agree wholeheartedly about Ron. He's an amazing man in many ways. Too bad we have to compare others with Ron's great care, because it means too many others show something less than decent human concern. Ron and crew are examples to us all.
ron, I've been watching your vids for a while now... you are so respectful and professional with every situation. I work several different jobs within the human services field (security, mental health and education) and I could only aspire to your temperament in potentially stressful situations. I've needed a tow more than a few times and most often I've been really stressed and anxious about it. You do more than get to work, you calm the person too. Much Respect brother!
Ron I love the way you show this lady respect getting her out of traffic getting her to a safe place being in the cab your truck is the safest place she can be you are what every tech truck driver should be God bless you have a great day
I'm loving your videos, and I love it when you talk a little bit about Religion, church and Christ. And you treat your customers with alot of respect. The world needs more like you. Keep up the good work and thank you for posting your videos. God Bless You my friend.
The computers controlling the car detected a fault severe enough to place it into "limp mode", which generally uses much wider tolerances than normal operation: reduced redline, richer fuel mixture, potentially locking out certain transmission gears, etc.. In this case it apparently limited the top speed to 30 MPH which is _very_ dangerous on a highway with a posted limit of 55-70 - in this case an Interstate highway, which Mr. Pratt has mentioned a few times has a limit of 70 MPH in his area and many drivers significantly exceed posted limits all across the country. Several of his videos show him nearly being run over on the roadside despite the high-visibility, retro-reflective clothing and large recovery vehicles liberally equipped with flashing lights. Basically the car was technically operable but both impractical and _unsafe_ to drive on the road. A significant benefit for tow operators because, as in this video, it can allow them to simply drive the vehicle onto the flatbed instead of winching, which is far faster and reduces their exposure to traffic in both time and distance.
it is my beleif that family should take care of family when they are elder, way too many people being abandoned in nursing homes by their family, remember that we all must one day atone for what we do in life when we stand before god
Ron....I am almost in tears at how well you treat your customers. Especially such a sweet lady like her. I've said it before and I'll say it again. You are doing the Lord's work out there. Practice the faith not only in word, but also in act. GOD BLESS RON!
Thank you for all of your videos. It is good to see good blue collar people doing their jobs in such a friendly manner with so much concern for others.
Sounds like a coolant issue, I have the same car and I love it. But you need to keep it in check or you end up haveing to call the nation's coolest tow guy
Thank you Ron, for being so understanding to us "Oldies". When we get past the Good Lords Three Score years and Ten, remembering place names quickly gets more difficult. May The Lord keep and bless you and all your family. God Bless
Thank you. As you always do, and continue to do showing the utmost respect to any one. Sending the driver many good thoughts and wishes. And to you too Mr. Ron.
Greatly respect you Ron for the way you live life. Not showing the bad accidents and fatalities is very admirable. A lot of people would make their views off that. The fact you give no detail for people to find the news story directly though your channel speaks volumes to your character also. You truly embody the spirit of salt and light. I work in the service industry and people are very trying. I don’t think I could hold my poise the way you do. I never even hear frustration in your voice. Thank you for being the example you are. Especially for all the young viewers.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I do loose my cool, I assure you. I try to make sure it is behind closed doors. LOL I process each video as if I were the person it happened TO instead of the one who is working on it. I appreciate your support and that you continue to watch my channel. God bless
Hi Ron, great videos. The terrain you have around your area seems very flat (in comparison to the north of Scotland where I live at least) the arrow board would benefit from being mounted on a dark painted back board so that the lights would not become invisible against the sky on bright days.
Ron. I want to take a minute to thank you for all that you've done for your community. I've seen all the videos with this kind ladie in it the 2 or 3 that has her in it. And the kindness you show towards everyone is just very heat warming. Thank you
Ron, I greatly appreciate your sensitivity to publication of information regarding fatality accidents. I lost my son, his fiance' and four members of six in another family to a weather related accident 14 years ago. Today I still occasionally stumble across some of the crash scene photos on the internet. While I do extremely well in 'compartmentalizing', my wife and other children do not. Thank you again. Best regards,
I’ve viewed this since you had the Go fund me page for her, good to view the follow up, well done! She was overwhelmed when you visited her with the cheque and the radio. God bless you and your family a true Christian gesture brother 👍🙏🇬🇧
An easy pick up, a cool lady. Job well done. Loved this video. This lady reminds me a little of my sister with her love of the oldies music. My sister has to have her Classic Country station here and sometimes its hard to pick up.
Now that is one tired Taurus. I was always jokingly told that FORD meant the following: Found On Road Dead, Flip Over Read Directions, Freaking Old Rebuilt Dodge. lol There were are few more too. Thank you for taking time to put up this video. I always enjoy episodes of Day in the Life of Ron Pratt: Tow Truck Driver. I am truly sorry that you had a real bad call this week, and will pray that God will bring you through it with his grace and love. It's not easy working a fatality, no matter if you are a tow truck driver, ambulance personnel, or a firefighter. I almost became of those stats 10 yrs ago this Christmas. God bless, and hugs from a Canadian polar bear.
I responded to a double fatality yesterday morning at 4:30 as well, 53 year male burned in the truck and the 25 year old male in the other car died in the hospital a few hours after, stay safe out there and keep being awesome!
Hi Ron my name is Anthony Robertson, I am 51 years old, and live here in Anchorage Alaska Thank you for the video. I would also like to thank you for changing my life, On Tuesday October 17th, 2017, i will be Baptized. thanks to you, I have started reading the Bible, i have never read a book before.I also volanteer at a local Church 2 times a week. 🕯🙏🕯🕇
Love the new arrow board thinking about getting my boss to put one on our flatbed since our traffic control vehicle was involved in an accident. Stay safe. Ron love your videos
I saw the strap under the tire when you said you had to move forward and I was like I hope he pulls up past it but no. Good thing it was not to bad and you did not have to undo everything you did. Keep they coming and GOD BLESS
Since you mentioned railfans briefly, I had to comment. I myself am a life-long railfan actually trying to get a job with the railroad. I just started watching your channel within the last year. Love your videos. God Bless!
one of the best videos in your channel , just for the awesome amount of respect you showed that lovely golden lady and how professional you were ( as always ofc )
Love watching your videos, Ron. I don't think I even watch them anymore for the towing (though that is still very awesome - love the train!), but to remind me there's still good people in this world. If only there were more people like you, it would be a whole lot better of a place to live.
So enjoyed this video. What a sweet lady! You are always so considerate and polite to everyone. In today’s crazy world, such manners seem to have been left by the roadside! P.S. Loved the train! Thank you for sharing and may God be with you and your crew.
Man, you're whole attitude and demeanor are in a class of their own. I asked the good Lord for those things but I find the more I try, the more I struggle. Keep up the great work and God bless.
Much respect to you Ron about keeping the fatal accident off of video. You really earned your wings by respecting the families that lost a loved one. Jesus bless your soul for that. And as usual a marvelous video.
Thank God Ron was the person who took this call. I'm a senior citizen and I can imagine how she felt sitting there in her dead car waiting for who knows what kind of person to come and rescue her.
Not posting the Videos of a Fatal Accident shows me that you Are a True Professional. It's so Refreshing to see that in this day and age. Keep up the Good Work Brother, and Thank You.
Even tho I’m hundreds of miles away, I’d be calling you for a tow. Exemplified excellent service, and I don’t think it’s just the camera. I enjoy the less action packed vids because it shows your true nature As always thank you for sharing the mundane.
Another good video Ron. Sometimes it's nice to get a simple one every now and again. Such a nice lady - and you are a positive sweetheart! Stay safe and God bless.
Look at you Ron. Helping her off the highway and then helping her find a radio station. I can't get over how courteous and friendly you are. Sadly too many in your industry are not.
I love the fact that you are always so kind and polite with the people you deal with when towing someone. If I lived closer to you I would have your phone number on my contact list for sure.
Ron this video was very touching to me being kind and that your veiwers are the greatest in the world. I didnt know the woman but she is adorable. Just want to send my BLESSING TO HER AMD HHER FAMILY Happy she. has her car fixed AMEN
You are such a good guy and such a good professional I almost want to brake down in your area! Great work great video. Keep up the good work! God bless
@Wilhem275 Thank you Wilhem. You're so right The sound of that train horn blowing ALWAYS makes my heart sing, and I'm a little boy again, watching another diesel thunder through. I don't know who or what made Ron catch that diesel, but from the bottom of my heart, thanks Ron.You'll do to ride the river with.
I like your lion too. I have a lion for each of my vehicles. They are my guard lions and so for the last 11 years my cars have been safe. Hope yours keeps you safe as well.
Ron; FYI When I dragged Vehicles around in my day, I used Galls Towing Supplies. They always treated me well. Some times I'll still buy foot ware from time to time. Great Video as always, God Bless.
Any day Ron posts a new video, is a good day :) its like conditioner for the soul..the final layer of wax on your shiny car... a treat on any given day. :)
Running a Ford eh? Good man. My Grandfather ran a towing operation in the Glendale / Hollywood CA area back in the 60s and he had custom ordered Ford 1-ton chassis trucks with beds made by a local weld shop with Holmes 440 wreckers on them. He made a killing in the light duty wrecker service business back then. Almost no one was running 1-ton trucks back then and focusing on light towing. Dunno if I could ever do it but I've always been fascinated by the towing business. Great video as always. I'm originally from Missouri btw.
She was way too close to the lane, so great job watching traffic Ron & keeping her calm, because she was completely clueless on how dangerous that was, while exiting her vehicle. Nice coverage sir.
Ron can we get some prayers sent out to where I am in No, Cal. with all the wild fires. It was close to where I live. Lets give prays to the people who lost everything, to the people and family's that lost love one's and pray for the missing. Great Video.
One thing I love about these videos is that you read viewer's questions and suggestions and actually consider them if they are a good idea. On a previous video I heard a train coming and found myself saying to the screen "Ron? Could you at least show the beginning of it?" I also like the trumpet music in the introduction. I hear that was brought back by viewer request. I think the arrow board was also suggested by a viewer but I'm not sure? As always, keep up the great work Ron!
I'm a railfan too, and Missouri must be relatively flat for NS to assign one locomotive to a stack train. Unless it had another locomotive 75 carriages back. I got a chance to see the F650 flatbed up close last Wednesday when my company van lost its brakes and she needed to go to the shop. Unlike you, the driver only strapped down the wheels on the driver side, But I got her back the same day with no damage. Great video as always. Have a blessed day.
Whoa, did you see that Dark blue 1966 Mercury Monterey sitting on the corner as you turned into 20:17 Baker's. Your always a nice guy. Should be more people in the world like you.
I like the way you really secure the cars on the roll-back bed. I have seen several here in Alabama that just put a meat hook with the chain dropped in one hook slot and the winch to tighten it. That is all they use to tie it down. I sure would hate for their winch to malfunction or the cable to brake.
Thank you for having respect for the families that you deal with. I had a friend that found out on the news years ago that her kids father was murdered and the news station showed the body her boys although young were right there. I lived right by train tracks years ago so close the house would rattle and your right you just get used to it barley pay attention when they went by after awhile...lol
It's good you always try to keep an open mind about most every thing related to these UA-cam videos. I do not know how you figured out that by keeping the bed tilted your arrows are more visible. Non the less that is wise that you seem to always figure these things out. Good work as usual Ron. Be Safe always!
Very sweet lady. Ron, Suggestion on the arrow...How about making longer legs to raise it higher and add a backboard for visibility then hinge it just above the cab so it folds forward or aft when not in use. Just flip it up vertical with a lock pin to hold it up when needed. You could add a couple of gas shocks to make it almost weightless when raising it up. Of course a lock pin to secure it in the upright and stowed positions. Alternatively if you want to keep it always vertical you could do a telescoping tube in tube with gas shock to make it easy to raise and lower. Or you could mount it on a home-made scissors of square tube to raise and lower it. (kind of like the old scissors jacks for cars) If I was closer I would make it for you just to watch the blinky lights :)
tom protzman from oshkosh wisconsin hi ron i wish you and your staff have a safe week and your family as well kept up good work and be safe ., take care tom protzman
26:48 Ooh! A choo-choo! lol I have the Canadian National (CN) railroad frequencies for Illinois programmed into my 300 channel Uniden BC75XLT handheld scanner so I can listen to them when the local unit comes around to pick up and/or drop off rail cars at local business in my area. I sometimes walk down to the railroad crossing (two blocks from my house) and watch them do their business. :-)
could have been almost anything that caused the engine light putting it into limp mode. great lady though. I love it when we get easy going old folks in the shop. their pleasant attitude brightens our day.
Another nice video. I am happy, that I don't have to work next to passing cars on the Interstate / highways. As I am also a railfan, I like when you take the time to show the train passing :-) Cheers Adam
I've said it before and I'll repeat it because it's so true: Ron and all the folks at Midwest Truck are truly a class act.
Ron its so great seeing how you treated that lady a lot of tow truck drivers can learn a lot from you. And thank you for not leaving her at side of road to fend for herself like I seen a lot of tow truck drivers do. God Bless you

Thank you for the shot of the train. An old B&O RR man appreciates.
Small town hospitality, so cool to see its still alive in places.
Glad to see the lady’s family coming to look after her in her golden years. Keep safe Ron
I am wondering why she is being towed. Did you drive the car onto the flat bed? All the best, Edgar
The computers controlling the car detected a fault severe enough to place it into "limp mode", which generally uses much wider tolerances than normal operation: reduced redline, richer fuel mixture, potentially locking out certain transmission gears, etc.. I must say that you do make me smile with your constant use of the phrase Darn it, i am from England.
Whoa, did you see that Dark blue 1966 Mercury Monterey sitting on the corner as you turned into 20:17 Baker's.
Your always a nice guy. Should be more people in the world like you.
I grew up next to a rail line and you do get used to it. One used to come by around 11:00 and it helped to put us kids to sleep:)
God love her heart...you are such a Awesome man Ron....
Good I don't want to see a video were someone died. This is why I'm subscribed to his videos, Ron is so respectful
I like the way you really secure the cars on the roll-back bed. I have seen several here in Alabama that just put a meat hook with the chain dropped in one hook slot and the winch to tighten it. That is all they use to tie it down. I sure would hate for their winch
to malfunction or the cable to brake.
Ron thanks for all you do keep up the good work! God bless
Kudos to you Ron for being so helpful to her.
Piece of cake. Nice lady, nice job. Even the traffic got over, you should go pick up a lottery ticket. The ARROW did help. Thanks for posting.
It's good you always try to keep an open mind about most every thing related to these UA-cam videos. I do not know how you figured out that by keeping the bed tilted your arrows are more visible. Non the less that is wise that you seem to always figure these things out. Good work as usual Ron. Be Safe always!
Thanks for showing the trains Ron! I really enjoy them! God Bless!
I don’t know what it is but I love a quite , in the distance, train horn .
Great work my friend. warms my heart too you helped her out like that. need more like you out there.
Such a sweet lady couldn't have had a better person to tow it for her
An easy one for a change. It's nice when you can just drive the vehicle up. Almost forgot. Thanks for the NS shot. Something of a railfan myself. lol
tom protzman from oshkosh wisconsin hi ron i wish you and your staff have a safe week and your family as well kept up good work and be safe ., take care tom protzman
26:48 Ooh! A choo-choo! lol
I have the Canadian National (CN) railroad frequencies for Illinois programmed into my 300 channel Uniden BC75XLT handheld scanner so I can listen to them when the local unit comes around to pick up and/or drop off rail cars at local business in my area. I sometimes walk down to the railroad crossing (two blocks from my house) and watch them do their business. :-)
Well as usual its beenn a pleasure
watching you an your crue perform with the upmost workmanship. 🍀🙏👀.
God Bless
could have been almost anything that caused the engine light putting it into limp mode. great lady though. I love it when we get easy going old folks in the shop. their pleasant attitude brightens our day.
Glad to see you have an arrow board on your truck. I bet that makes a difference.👍🏻
I've never been able to get a ride in tow truck, they always leave me to find my own way. A great video, I enjoyed it!
Another nice video. I am happy, that I don't have to work next to passing cars on the Interstate / highways. As I am also a railfan, I like when you take the time to show the train passing :-)
Cheers Adam
