As social media has grown over the years, these mistakes have become even more prevalent, sometimes causing massive fallouts that damage reputations forever.

I figured that they simply implied it with the Ashlee Vanilli title, and the jab at Europe at the end. Arguably one of the major lip sync scandals of the music world, WH probably figured it was already too well known. I mean most of the entries are really B-level celeb dramas. Michael Richards dropping an N-bomb on stage is arguably bigger than what some 300k influencer did. But it's also more well known.
Like, how is some jeweler a celeb? Even the astronaut is stretching things... in that field you either be the 1st of something, or remain a faceless nobody who went to space.

I used to play rugby in Sweden for 17 years with one club and in 2018 i went back for a visit . I went down to my old club after 13 years and one of the young players said to me i have heard about you and what you got up to after games and at club parties . Out of curiosity i asked what did you hear ? His reply was hilarious to me when he said , it sure wasnt good

In Italy it happened something quite opposite to the Ashley Simpson’s story.
Back in the 90s ,There was for a popular Italian musical show called Festivalbar. The singers were asked to lip sing, even the band was not play. All in playback . One famous rock-satirical band, “Elio e le storie tese”, decided to make fun of the situation. In the middle of the song, they just stop pretending to sing . all the members of the band remained completely immobile, for like 30 seconds, while the playback was going. This was basically a form of protest, the result was hilarious. One of the best moments of Italian tv.
The UK had a similar incident where the drummer used chicken drumsticks 🍗

this happened here too! but not ashley simpson, i think it was the band "the mamas and the papas" they had to do a show but for some reason they couldn't sing (i forget why) and to protest the lead female singer just stood there the whole time eating a banana lol while the song sang itself.
@@Parasiteve Yup. It was on The Ed Sullivian Show. They never let The Mamas and The Papas sing live for some reason, even though they were a solid live group. Michelle Phillips ate the banana and played with a beach ball.
Nirvana did this on Top of the Pops in 1991. There's video of it on UA-cam and it's hilarious.

Natalia and her husband weren't only dropped from the show, *they were run out of the country* Locals yelled at them in the street, people even spat on the ground when they went passed. They lasted a couple of days and fled when they realized an entire nation hated them. It's impossible to get away with such poor behavior in a country with only 6 million people, especially if you're a guest here.

St. Louisan here - Cardinals baseball announcer Harry Carey was caught in a rather compromising situation at a restaurant here with one of the Anheuser Busch wives. AB was owner of the Cards. AB chose not to renew Harry's sportscasting contract and was subsequently let go. He then moved to Chicago and became the announcer for the Cubs. He as persona non grata in St. Louis.
Ashlee's Simpson's explanation was not "lighthearted", she tried to throw her band under the bus, which probably did a lot more damage to her reputation than the actual incident.

Snl is made out to be a bigger deal. Most of snl isn’t that funny. Shane with being on podcast made it back on to snl. Podcasting is a bigger deal than snl. More ppl want to watch guys on mushrooms and drink bud light.
There is a lot more to the story than is let on and has been discussed thoroughly. SNL wasn't at fault because they didn't know till it was too late to do anything.
The decision was made by Ashlee and her team to do this and knew several days in advance her voice was an issue.

That incident could have been contrived by Paul as he got older and wanted privacy in life, so he 'sh*t the bed', as it where and the Advertising guys didn't want him afterwards, hence giving him privacy. He past away at 70 after battling cancer. He was a great entertainer. RIP

Ashlee Simpson is actually a great singer. I remember like 4 or 5 years ago I saw her perform the musical Chicago live at the Hollywood Bowl. She played Roxy and she was KILLING that performance. Plus she released 2 more albums after her 1st album Autobiography. So I wouldn’t say her career was ruined, per se.

You're thinking of the Ed Sullivan show. SNL famously did not allow lip syncing for decades before that Simpson incident, and there were lots of proofs of this live on air.
