I hadn't heard of Steph Curry until Caitlin Clark. He doesn't have that top tier household name status, neither does Mahomes. Hate me if you want, but they don't. They aren't Tom Brady, Micheal Jordan, Babe Ruth, Tiger Woods where "everyone" knows who they are.
It would be unfair to just presume Clark is at that same level. I don't actually think she is. She just finished her first season in the pros. Step back from your social media bubble and ask yourself whether you are SURE that, say, your mom or auntie, or your grandma would know who Caitlin Clark is if you asked. That they could name the sport she plays. Could they?
Believe it or not, plenty of people don't know who she is. The ones who don't follow sports, who aren't glued to their phones. She hasn't made it into *their* conversation...yet. But I believe she will. I think she's the first player out of the WNBA who stands a chance at reaching that level. And it's the reason you see some people constantly trying to fluff up the 'women who paved the way and who work so hard' a la Taurasi and Sheryl Swoopes. Like fine. But no one tuned in or cared. Not your average viewer.

@@vernieistooold all cool. could probably just poll 20 adults off the street to get an idea. I'd wager 95-100% would match the household names I gave to their respective sport and that Clark and Mahomes would be closer to maybe 70%.

She didn’t hit anyone with the drive she mis-hit, she hit someone later with an approach shot to a green, not unusual for even professional golfers.
Mick, she is nowhere near one of the top ten most famous athletes in America. Her fans are just more manic at the moment. Between the NFL, NBA, MLB, Olympic athletes, Nascar, etc… I think she would be closer to top 100 than top 10. For example, I work with a team of about 15 people. Half are big sports fans. Only 2 of them even know who Caitlin Clark is. Neither of them watch the WNBA. A lot of people hear there’s a buzz around a new female basketball player, but most people do not even know her name.
